Five episodes in and I already want to give it up. Why? Because it feels like one of those dramas that will not end well. I do like it so far but it’s not looking good. I do not want to watch 40 episodes to get to a sad ending. That is not why I watch dramas.
However, watching Vin Zhang is especially satisfying.
Really sad this drama is almost over. It was a welcomed lighthearted "historical" drama without all of the drama. The cutest couples and the king was adorable as well.
Absolutely loved this drama!!! Only a few minor objections....I hate that there wasn't more affection between the king and the queen. but I could appreciate their friendship. Queen Dowager would have gotten an elbow to the face a couple of times. I say this in all my comments on historical/ dramas; God knew when to let me be born because I would not have lived long in some of these historical eras. I have somewhat of a violent temper especially when it comes to my family.
All of the sons were adorable, especially the older ones. Wish we could have seen more of the 1st crown prince, he is gorgeous. They killed him off too soon, lol. I could go on for days about this drama. It was just enough episodes, not too many. They didn't drag out the side plots and everything came together nicely in the end.
OOOOh baby! I can't wait to watch the last few episodes. Jun just dug a hole for himself. He should have known not to go against YZ. He is a man of few words, but he will show you better than he can tell you. Ha! LET'S GOOOOO!!! I can't wait to see what YZ has up his sleeve.
yeah i agree i need their kisses to be more intense. i need him to be more thirsty for her tbh lmao. but seriously…
I’ve seen some pretty intense kissing scenes in asian dramas. Whether they frenched or not you couldn’t tell, but you definitely could see the passion and the love…or longing. However you want to look at it.
I think the underwhelming kissing situation might be due to censorship. Imagine if they went all out, all of those…
I don’t need them jumping each others bones and ripping clothes off, just more…..passion? Idk. It was just really unsatisfactory. They make you wait 12 years for them to hold hands and then they finally kiss and it doesn’t look genuine. It looks like a million people are standing around watching and it’s really awkward. We as the audience know this, but at least make it not look as awkward, lol.
I love these two, but I must admit that their kisses will not go down as the best kisses in dramaland. I was a bit disappointed in XK, lol. It looked like two 14 year olds making out for the first time. Maybe I’m just use to western shows with much better kissing scenes, lol. I’ll forgive them though because the two of them together are the cutest. The word play (“fight”) with WF had me cracking up. I love how their coworkers described it. She should know that she will not win against QS and what is up with the ex? He acts like he’s not over QS yet and it appears that he does not want to live off of WF’s family and their money. Which probably would have settled QS heart when she heard the conversation with his mother and she may not have broken up with him. Then again, maybe she would have. Regarding the need for sons and for as many, you answered the question yourself actually. If something happens…
It still doesn’t make sense and doesn’t make it right. It causes more strife in the household and the courts. Factions form supporting one son over the others. It’s all a circus to appease the egos and greed of men. People were murdered and women were bartered and traded like livestock and expected to produce heirs in some of the worst circumstances. You may not agree with the slap, but if no one ever questioned or defied authority, nothing would ever change. It’s been proven throughout history. Someone had to to it.
yeah, HJ made the wrong choice. She was raised differently and just thought power would help her mom and herself…
Thankfully, dating is just dating. In most cases you can walk away from those. Datings purpose is to find one that is suitable for you. Marriage means you’ve found them. If you go into marriage with the wrong expectations then you get what you put in. Sadly it was different for women of ancient times and they just had to put up with it. Sadly it’s still the same way, just in different forms.
It still baffles me as to why men needed several wives to produce a son (I mean I get it, but...). More wives, more problems. 2nd prince is the "legitimate son" of the "legal wife", what was even the point of getting more wives? If the legal wife had a son, why did he need more wives and more sons? The king has to remain unbiased towards all his sons so no one gets killed because if we've learned anything, life in the palace was cutthroat. Queens poisoning concubines, concubines poisoning concubines, giving each other birth control....them heffas were ruthless over one man! Not to mention brothers taking each other out for the throne. I was so happy that the 2nd young madam stood up to the 2nd prince. Letting him know she was on to him and he better get himself together. I was so excited for that scene. Loved when Li Wei slugged his a$$ too and how the 6th prince kicked him and held the sword to his neck like, "you will not hit my woman, nor will you stop her from saving her friend!". Felt sorry for HJ but she's right, she asked for it. She thought he was the one and this was the end result. Like he said, she went through great lengths to get him to notice her. Unlike all the other girls that were trying not to draw attention from any of the princes, lol. Especially LW. Last two episodes were very good. Happy Thanksgiving to all my US peeps!Until next week.
Down in the comments someone made an accurate point, I agree with 100%. I see people are giving Qin Shi a lot…
I promise I was just about to ask for someone to explain to me the logic in not promoting or even hiring single women. That completely baffled me. Isn't it better to be single so you can invest all of your time to work and not have family emergencies and sick kids and all the other stuff that comes with motherhood. I was so confused. I'm glad it's not just me.
I think it was wrong to lie, but I get it and no one should be giving her slack because technically she was not the one that told the lie. She did not want the success of her career to be based on a lie. With all that being said, she picked a good one to be her husband. I don't care about the age gap or any of the other stuff people have taken issue with. He is a very good choice to be arm candy. IJS! 🤣
I'm afraid there's going to be a long separation and/or the ML will be forced to take a main wife. It's bound…
Definitely not looking forward to it, especially since it takes them so long to even admit they like eachother and become a real couple. Then they have to throw in some heart breaking plot twist, but what can you do?
So, 10 episodes in and I’m really enjoying it. Enjoying the ML and the FL. Such a cute slow burn. That first kiss had me asking who had been practicing on since he had been playing sick all his life…..The fight scene in ep 10 was choreographed really well and was well executed. BJT showed off a little bit in that scene. I don’t know why this drama needs to be 40 episodes long, I have the sinking feeling that it’s going to be full of long drawn out situations as the legitimate crown whatever his title is fights our ML to ensure his position. That’s the part I really dislike in dramas like this, but I stay for the romance , the scenery, the beautiful faces, and the ending.
I am trying to hold on. This was yet another drama that didn't need 24 episodes to tell the story. It makes absolutely no sense right now. 2FL in love with a high schooler. ML avoiding FL because why? Just glad that it won't drag on forever. I don't get it. How old are they and they just say whatever hurtful thing that comes to mind even though they are in love with each other? I don't talk to my male best friend like that. We're not in love, but we also don't argue like that and we've known each other over 20 years. She is the most childish, but I get it. She gets it from her mother. So many things could have been resolved without all the screaming and saying spiteful stuff. Just mho. If he remembers everything, he should remember how crazy she was acting before and the question she asked him. OMG! This is infuriating, lol. I don't want to drop this drama so close to the end but I really hate ridiculously complicated plots that are complicated for no reason. I feel like it insults my intelligence. I'm not that desperate for entertainment that I have to sit through a 24-episode drama that contradicts itself and makes absolutely no sense. Not to mention that the acting is not all that great anyway.
