It's based on a true story. He spent 8 days in that chest before he died. The thought of how he died makes me…
@ rainecat, I don't know the actual K history but just finished watching and I was a bit surprised that he lasted only 8 days, cuz in ancient times this was not an unusual punishment and many lived long enough to not only lose their minds completely, but to ingest their own waste :'( Starvation is very slow & very painful and I would love to think that someone humanely helped his death along! I can't even imagine 1 minute like that, let alone 8 frikkin days! Humans are ATROCIOUS!
As of June 20th, 2019 this is on Netflix...at least in America. This was a somber film. It started bleak and ended…
Exactly! Checkout "The Face Reader" if u haven't already... it somewhat parallels that observation that peasant life is actually happier, freer, safer & richer... much more rewarding than actual royal life & the treacherous world of politics & power! Be warned, though! Not an easy watch at all :'( It's def a MULTI-LAYERED MASTERPIECE OF A MASTERPIECE, but scotch guard your hearteu first :'(
What I got is that the fiancée left it open. She really couldn't be faulted for thinking that it was an affair,…
IKR, it was such an open-ended parting, especially, as the gf was such a STRONG, ASSERTIVE & INDEPENDENT type! I really liked/admired her.
Yeah, boy :'( Truth hurts, and JiHyun's character knew she was risking being (misplaced) hated after helping him uncover his memories! She was already fragile and his reaction just tipped her over the edge even damn more. Poor things; ALL of them :/ And, yeah, he was in denial & wanting to believe it was all a figment of her unstable/ traumatised mind! The adopted father seemed more concerned about finally owning his own church (land too??) and finally progressing in life! As much as I felt a rush of strong irritation/disgust for him at that point, I also felt strong empathy/compassion for how much those would've now meant to him after a lifetime of poverty & struggles, too!
Yeah, I suspected that head bump was a trigger, but so could've the train incident. What if the lil girl(s) jogged memories of his sis who he clearly loved & tried hard to protect back then??
HA :D I've only seen the tiny KDrama clips/snippets on FB, but they're so darned PRECIOUS that it's enough for me to fall in UTTER LOVE with them! That's how I first knew of & FELL IN LOVE with the likes of Park SeoJoon, Lee SeungGi & so many more! That "sarry sarry" elevator clip was PRICELESS and even before multiple rewatches :D I was in UTTER LOVE with both her & Kim SooHyun! BOTH sooooo CHARISMATIC, sooooo GORGEOUSSSSS! I saw "The Thieves" months later and realised that they were both paired up back then too <3 <3
Aiiiii-goo... so many to watch, so little time :'(
Yes, I'd love to read that review. I just LOVE how East-Asian movies, particularly, the SKs/Hallyu almost always leave u still deeply engrossed & pondering and wanting more; even if the film isn't perfect or a masterpiece!
I watched it at drama.net but the sub was a little bit off-timing, I guess I'm just 80% digesting the whole storyline…
U should def rewatch this with good subs, now. At the end, the viewers were informed that the official who lived his life fearing a beheading, was found guilty of conspiring against someone's birth mother and his corpse was dug up so that he could be posthumously beheaded! Still superstition??
What I got is that the fiancée left it open. She really couldn't be faulted for thinking that it was an affair,…
Again, the fiancée had NO IDEA about his mental state; her reasons for (open-end) leaving was SOLELY cuz she thought he was having an affair!
Yeah, she had me at hello in this film and I only realised who this INSANE BEAUTY & EXCELLENT ACTRESS was upon checking out this page AFTER the film! Her more-recent pic on here jogged my memory... our precious "sarry sarry" girl from "My Love from the Stars" & icon from "My Sassy Girl" etc! She's truly AMAZING! Gonna bookmark that one now; if I don't already have it!
About the guard's testimony, hmmmmm, makes sense and you're probably right.
What I got is that the friend, with JiHyun's help, was able to uncover repressed memories and she couldn't deal with eating her mother to stay alive! She kept wanting the kids to stay far from her cuz she was wrapped up in guilt & self-hatred etc :/ Poor thing! Not sure why killing the babies got into her mind, but...
You're probably right about the friend's motives at the courthouse. I just suspected that her self-hatred, guilt & shame were projected onto JiHyun, much like misplaced anger, and she could no longer bear the sight of her.
I felt like the guy WANTED TO BELIEVE it wasn't true and that his "dad" was right! He was probably in denial. And why on earth did he feel differently about her upon finding out about her dead baby?? Sheesh @ him. The only thing I could think of is that he felt left out, but she was entitled to her privacy and sharing on her timing, too, so...
Yeah, it really was a mix of psychological & supernatural, if not pure psychological! But that we'll never know. I suspected that it was the bump on his head that started the whole ball rolling! Where his repressed memories got jarred and shaken loose, rising to the surface... from subconscious to conscious mind.
Either which way, it seems like he's now saddled with The Uninvited :/ And, yeah, I agree about the memories being the uninvited. This was really a good film, albeit confusing to piece together, but still worth it! Thanks for your reply and perspectives... for one, it shed some light on who that lady on the ground was -- the one who jumped/suicided off the balcony and was now visiting her as a ghost!
I finally got to watch this on Tubi! There are few things I find unexplained like the church and the circles which…
What I got is that the fiancée left it open. She really couldn't be faulted for thinking that it was an affair, but she went on her trip and left it open. It wasn't about the guy's mental state or anything; she wasn't even aware about that aspect.
I adore Jun-JiHyun, too <3 and yeah, her acting here was EXCELLENT! Not to mention that INSANE BEAUTY of hers! WOW @ her being 21 here! Just WOW!
I was confused (and still am!) about several things, too -- The security-guard's testimony made it seem as if JiHyun was the one who killed the babies?? Why did the friend, after sentencing, react to JiHyun like that & attempt suicide at the courthouse?? Was it cuz of the painful memories that JiHyun had helped her uncover?? At the end, I got that she (JiHyun) suicided so that the guy would see her ghost & believe her, right??
Disemberment, extreme torture scenes, mutilation, a pool of blood and many other brutal splatter gore elements.…
Agreed with some of what u say. Remember, his (main) motive for this was more psychological than physical curiosity or medical curiosity or whatever. I wasn't even expecting to have my interest held or my curiosity aroused. Very surprising film with EXCELLENT ACTING!
Where'd u get proper subs?? It's the most painful thing to watch with bad subs :'( :'( :'(
Hey, I know I already said thank u, but I had seen the film on the same day that I asked u about good subs, and thanks to your prompt reply I was able to rewatch the very next day and finally understand the things I hadn't before! I really loved this movie (even with the dodgy subs!) and I felt major appreciation for u during the rewatch, lol, so, just sharing <3 #hugs <3 Plus, I now have an additional site for those HARD-TO-FIND films that are not already on my beloved, trusty sites :/
Could not agree more. Awful movie. Couldn't crack even the slightest smile at the generic jokes. Oh well, might…
@ Sebastian Joseph, So this is where u got this comment from! Or more like, STOLE! If this is not YOUR own fake/second account, u could've at least credited the owner when copying & pasting to other sites! Sheesh

Hidden gem, indeed! I've already found 2 more movies on it! Yay me :D
I'm in SHOCK
LOL @ "they were not proper, more like tolerable" :D
Sighzzzzz, the struggle is real... Imma need several lifetimes to get through my Bookmarks/Watchlists :/
Do make time for "Monster"... it's so EPIC <3
