Not believable in regards to the operations and production management especialy a company's legal terms and contracts. Obviously the writer has no experience in these fields.
This flaw apart, I want to comment on the ungratefulness towards her father.
This, as a viewer, is the biggest issue in this story. From birth, all the love and benefits she received from her parents were brushed under the carpet. How on Earth could her father discuss her identity at the time of his wife funeral. And to add that it is her mother funeral. The dramatization of the misunderstanding in his office was a little far fetched. This to me is a poor writing. Then, not allowing her father a period of mourning before a heart to heart conversation, therefore, her "me, myself and I" tossed him aside. This attitude of itself reveals a deep egocentric character. She was mature enough to understand her friends' difficulty but not her father's ? I don't buy that.
By the 20th episode watching all her biological family's saga no need to ask whom she takes after...pathetic.
To conclude, from the 5th to the 20th episode it took me 25 minutes to watch.
The director is the sculptor. Young actors are good most of the time. But they become better once they come across…
The acting, the adequate wardrobe, the sound track and OST are to me the most important.
i.e.: Hou Min Hao in Glory and The Unclouded Soul, has lots of potential. But his co-star were excruciating for me to watch. Unclouded Soul I dropped. One is too well aware of the camera. The other is not cut for this genre of drama.
i.e.: Cheng Yi excelled in The Vendetta Of An, The Imperial Age (although it was a supporting role), Mysterious Lotus Casebook. I haven't digged into his filmatography yet. His futur efforts will be rewarded.
i.e.: Bai Yu excelled in Swords Into Plowshares. I don't try to watch his dramas anymore because I drop them.
i.e.: Bai Jing Ting excelled in The First Frost. Other are watchable but he needs again the right director for him.
i.e.: Xiao Zhan was OK in Legend of Zang Hai. I tried his other works but dropped most of them. I have started his movie Gehzi Town, and he works hard.
Some actors/actresses are more cut for contemporary roles. Nonetheless to start their carreer they have to dress roles that fit only for their handsomeness. Or have co-stars, either male or female, who don't know how to act.
There are amazing actresses. unfortunately viewers see only what Cdramaland is good at promoting. And, because Cdramaland attracts female viewers, directors focus on male actors.
Fortunately there are veteran actors to save the boat.
this comment is nothing new but to praise ZLH for his visual -- and its not just that -- he knows exactly how…
The director is the sculptor. Young actors are good most of the time. But they become better once they come across THE director that will take them by the hand to perfect their craft, the result is astonishing.
Hua Mulan is back ! Our piggy butcher has paused like a monument dedicated to fallen chinese soldiers. What a detail ! What a message for veteran women !
With all due respect, I wish to emphasize what are the details you miss when fastforwarding for example: the music theme for each scene and at times the lietmotiv for your favorite actor/actress, all the actor's micro expressions including their tones of voice and script, the settings itself so simple but well drawn from paper to the screen, the scenery, wardrobe accurately designed, the props well documented. All these are quite fun to watch and to listen for "only" a 40 episode drama.
Should you take this gem for granted, you miss the crew's hard work. These departments worked intelligently for month to grace you with your favorite actor/actress. And these actor and actress, in return, molded their craft diligently into something they believe in, and in turn, would please you..
We have to acknowledge that it's not at the same level as a movie with a spendthrift budget. Still, they propel a fun story nicely created from a script to our screen. The director's creativity is to be reckoned with.
You could find it fun if for at least one episode you test your patience and enjoy it at its fullest. In the meantime, I wish you an enjoyable Pursuit Of Jade watching.
From a viewer, this writing has so many flaws.

No offense, but I am a picky viewer.
