In ep 8, why did zhou mei's mother forced her to eat an apple?
It's the symbol of temptation. A warning from her mother not to be trapped in worldy acts. The peeling signifies the mother protecting her daughter from the poison of life that might have been on the surface of its skin. The mother thought and gesture are charactirized by evilness.
Edit : if you remember the film The Devil Wears Prada it would guide you to better understand the mother's fight against successful societies.
Chapter 7th: the scripting of the parents flaws was so well done. Oh Zhou Mei, I wish I could embrace you in my arms and give you the warmth a child deserves. Your tears drenched my heart.
Half way and I dare say that it is a watchable shortlength Cdrama. It isn't pretentious, it is well directed, good settings and props, surprisily daring intimate scenes, intriguing side stories compared to the big production trends. Not yet rated.
one thing i cant stand in cdrama and kdramas is that the customers are alwayssssss shoutingggg
Not only C and K dramas. The other asian dramas also. Dramas are reflexions of some people behavior. There are lots of youtubers discussing about people being loud to the extreme. When traveling one gets used to it.
I also liked how they had the school reunion group speak earlier in the drama. I don't understand much Chinese,…
I would love to know which state in China this school gatekeeper comes from. I'm sure you watched the 2023 Cdrama Blossoms Shanghai and how strong some actors, although in many of their dramas have mainland accent, but could switch to different accents. I loved it.
Three years or so ago, I listened to a chinese youtuber critisizing arrogantly actors because of their natural local accent in a Cdrama. I was outraged, and I wasn't the only one. Then I stopped following and even stopped gifting her streaming. I never heard such contempt when living in England, Germany, France, Canada with such beautiful landscape of accents.
I read some of your comments on this story and noticed, among others, the fun you have. My rent is aiming at the mothers. These actresses do an amazing job to be able to make me fall into their trap with anger. I shall take sessions of anger management once this is over.
Beginning of episode 27 I like the school gatekeeper's accent was unexpected. Some people might find this cringy. As for me it is so pleasant to listen to. It adds warmth and real life to the story. I played it several times.
Like a goose!!! If only we could turn her into fois gras and be rid of!
I was referring to Mi Yu's ex-husband's mother (Nie Yu Cheng's mother).
As for Mi Yu's mother, sorry but I don't buy it. That woman is greedy like hell and still obsessed in pushing her daughter into any man's bed that fits her personal agenda regardless of her daughter's affections. She has a dirty mind, a pimp in disguise. To easy to fall into this script and take a work opportunity to reedem herself. This actress plays her role perfectly and every of her mimic fits in.
Fortunately other Cdramaland's dramas gift its audience with warm, faithful, loving mothers and mothers-in-law.
Episode 25...that mother is disgusting, vile, rude, you name it. She has no respect for herself and for others. Asking the butler to pay for her taxi, stuffing herself like a goose. Shame on her.
Edit : if you remember the film The Devil Wears Prada it would guide you to better understand the mother's fight against successful societies.
Oh Zhou Mei, I wish I could embrace you in my arms and give you the warmth a child deserves. Your tears drenched my heart.
So, we'll meet at the end of this story sitting in an anger management classroom.

End of episode 28. Another histeric mother. Please writer and script writer can't you give me a break ?
