Veteran actors like Yin Zheng ( the director in the drama), i think they are proud to show the world what really…
You are too convincing. I started watching it with breaks within each episode. Fortunately I have a cold and my traditional chinese medication and my cat are my only healers.
Such an arrogant comment. Alllow viewers the time to face this story through the lenses of another director. Obviously you haven't read Man Was Made to Mourn by Robert Burns...this would humble you.

I was too emotional when writing my short comment so it is very confusing...my apologies. I am aware of the driving force chinese actors, actresses and the crew embrace their roles when acting as japs and I bow to them. Hope during the process of filming they had the psychological support. I've watched all the Cdramas that approach this subject. But for Man's Inhumanity to Man, my heart won't take it. The level of my hatred will sky rocket. Japs brainwashed ? With all the evidence, how come their government with the support of its population till now haven't given a word of apology. To me they are all evil.
I don't think that I'll have the courage go through an emotional spree. I hate these people to the core. I even stopped watching their Jdramas, movies. etc. For my studies and understanding of their lifes, I HAD to read their literature. I wonder where Chinese actors and actresses have the guts to personify some of their roles. A shame there are veteran actors.
I am at episode 47 because I want to understand why this high rating. I am a difficult Cdrama watcher. I still don't understand the rating. I dare say that it is the worst story put on screen ever for the last decades. At each take I was questionning the director, the screenwriter and the ability of the actors.
I agree, it is not for every one's taste. I don't care about viewers attack. And these viewers have to be honest with themselves. There are pearls out there that honestly need more attention. To avoid hurting my rib with laughters, It's high time to drop it here.
Although I haven't watch this but I'm imagining the domestic audience will know all this. Perhaps you are thinking…
Correct...international POV. I still keep in mind that international POV is based on historical books, reviews written by international historians, scientists, etc. Which means that these are mostly distorted resulting in wars, genocides, stolen artifacts, slavery, stolen natural resources, impoverished countries, depriving women and children from education, children slavery till now, etc.
I cannot be sure that the domestic audience knows all of this. China is a HUGE country and there are still too many taboos. Such as too much desire to look like westerners leading to little selfesteem. But, hey, who am I to raise such a delicate topic that is plastic surgery.
Dang that is awesome. I was wondering who she was. I was immediately drawn to her when I saw the very brief scene…
In the 2022 Cdrama The Imperial Age, his acting was fantastic. I had watched many of his dramas prior to The Imperial Age and I wasn't that impressed. But obviously the director of The Imperial Age guided him extremely well. His role here in TVOA is another proof of his hidden talent.
There were the opium war and the tea war. If Cdramas could cover these subjects, there would be a better understanding of how the brits destroyed China. Such as Robert Fortune who stole the tea by any means. And the silk road to enslave easterner population. Now there is a toned down political revenge from all the countries that were under the brits' power. These countries do not ask for recognition but for reappropriation of their historical artifacts. They are reclaiming their history and their pride.
The script shows lessons to learn but to my view point too much of a subdued script on this matter. However I could sense the wordings raging from the chinese actors. Oh gosh, I love them all.
I rest after the 1st episode because I wanted to navigate a little longer in its dream.
Hours later, i am still wondering if it is another Nivarna in Fire. Am I still dreaming ? Is it my screen or my brain foggy ? Why has Santa landed on my roof that early ?
I need a glass of champ right now to finish this year with the arrival of this grandiose arts in its ensemble. Cdramaland...I love you.

Loved the first episodes on YT but too busy at work. Sadly YT took it off and it's impossible to find another platform.
