loved it, refreshing and interesting subjects got tackled really intelligently. Pretty short but I'm glad it exists! Loved Aki and Kentaro.
/slight spoil?/ the image of the family waiting when Kentaro was giving birth made me smile. Their profile is so different yet so true to what you'd expect seeing. Overall very modern!
I'm gonna say it, this series feels messy to me. I like it dearly, and I really try to hang on to it: but every time I see light, the next thing happening makes me go "oh well shouldn't have expected that much out of them". I don't see where Akk and Ayan have developed a romantic relationship appart from the actors chemistry. Threatening to kiss someone, falling in their arms then crying bcs you can be weak with them? How did we come to this point? They never talked before? What made them this close? There is so much to say about this tbh. I had hope after ep6 but apparently no... (btw what was this beach scene w the friends looking in the distance? who directed this lmao). Still watching tho but so far to me the only impactful romantic story is between Khan and Thua. They are absolutely killing it.
I think I would even enjoy it more if Akk and Ayan had started by becoming pals and Akk questioning his beliefs in a simply platonic thing with Aye, then only starting the romance from this point on in the story where they could've built growing tension and the beginning of a sweet romance, still paired with their dilemma. Because rn we only have a traumatized Ayan and a lost Akk, not knowing shit about each other, that somehow are kissing on a boat? What even, appart from the basic gay crush attraction could lead to this... maybe I'm too salty hahaha. It's not all to throw away. some other series just have placed the bar higher for me. I might've been a big fan of this one two years ago. Sadly in the meantime BL series evolved and some started showing us believable romantic stories!
incredible episode definitely one of my favs so far. This ending was bonkers, the raw feelings got me at a loss of words. and the choice of not putting any music over their kiss EBFJNZLDK anyhow I'm really pleased :> can't wait for next episode
I mean first trailers are usually not how the show turns out in general. They seem to be there just to show the…
@YouPulledMeIn Thank you for this response! I know that first trailers aren't supposed to be exactly like the finished series, I just felt disappointed in the obvious loss of filming quality and the overflowing typical BL aspects that got obviously added over time. But you're right who knows what's to come! keep our hopes up! The band being blue does make sense overall it's true: more about calm composure and order than red being about rebellion. As @Pincolino said, there might be a budget thing going on that ended up making this series not as good quality or as advertised as others. (which I'm sad about but that's how it is)
Also true for the darker concepts. So far few of them managed to keep the seriousness with a good balance of cinematography, humor and believable romance (not me placed the bar too high for me omg). I guess I had high expectations for this one to be in the same category as not me. Time will tell! Hoping that BL dramas will get less shy of showing some seriousness!
I must say tho I agree with Pincolino about KP. The only thing that kept me watching was the imagery quality at first, then because I like to watch a whole show before giving critics: it clearly disappointed me in many ways, but also had some good points: however clearly not as good as most people tend to say it is. Overall I have a clear thing against romanticizing r*pe culture, non consent etc, and KP was right in it all the way up there. The eclipse is starting to edge on it imo that's also what worries me (warning slight spoil: who needed that shower kiss or that car cheek kiss?? the tension is high enough on it's own :')) BUT ANYWAYS thank you for this whole thread of responses!!
i was watching this series from afar, being really excited about it for a long time since the trailer dropped and I decided to give it it's shot: I'm waiting to see how it develops. However let me just say this: I rewatched the first trailer that dropped with the scenes that never got used: and it pissed me off really badly. One negative thing I felt about this series is the lack of colors compared to GMMTV other quality of filming and production, this one fell flat for me (so far). But rewatching the first trailer: IT LOOKED SO GOOD!! It's so pretty! powerful! and the scenes felt way darker and more serious than what is taking place right now in the series. Even the use of a Blue band on the arm rather than the Red one. Everything feels like it's passed through a dishwasher and then sprinkled with problematic scenes that are supposed to give you the "BL yaoi chills of a young fangirl" (I'm talking forced kiss, cliche falling or proximity, seatbelt etc). I'm getting underwhelmed. Also I understand that we're only 4 ep in and I shouldn't judge when It's only the beginning, but I'm getting scared for what's to come. Does anyone also feels this way when rewatching the first trailer compared to what we have now? Anyhow I'll continue watching but I have mixed feelings about it...
they avoided every mistakes or faux pas that they could make and managed to make one of the sweetest romance in this industry. Not completely flawless tho but overall one of the best I've seen so far!
i was contempt with the last episode, balanced out my thoughts of the series, I think it works as a whole. Not my favorite show but I liked the cinematography and the acting! thanking the people working on this for bringing it to life it was an interesting experience! :)
everyone talking about Vegas Pete but is it me or are Kinn and Porsche literal cousins??? legit like Vegas is Kinn's cousin? So Porsche and Porschay would also be Vegas and Kinn's cousins? Or did I miss the entire point? (it's getting confusing to me)
I don't like the pacing in this. I was excited for this episode but I ended up very bored. I find myself not caring one bit about Porsche's parent's death story. This show was set up to follow a very vague plot of "mafia bodyguard au" and tries to slip in some deeper plots throughout the whole series but it just feels bland to me. I don't get to care for the issues they have. If they'd put the story of the parent's murder at the center (even just mentioned with better proofs of misery as growing up for the boys) and surrounded it with all that happened there it would feel fine to me. But right now I don't care about the parents, I don't care about Korn's issues, and wtf is going on with the uncle... Fr it's like we're at ep 12 and y'all are just trying to put this deeper plot in now? Also wtf was this episode, first Vegas Pete (which are the only reason that still gets me excited ngl, I don't support the toxicity but at least it plays with my curiosity and I'm invested in understanding the characters (tho this spice scene was really bland why is this boy making sweet love to Pete, weren't they talking about being rough...?) , then 2 freaking product placement with some weird nonsense?? like did Kinn quit the family? can he do that? when is it shown? what the hell is happening? And ofc Porsche would spare the guy when he was in the car, seems obvious and the only thing I could still enjoy at this point was the actor's performances, that are still blowing me away, but that's it. Kim and Porschay were a meh to me from the start, the age gap of the actors really icks me and although I get that it's cute, the writers need to settle on either putting Kim of use and actually trying to find answers around the whole accident case, or just show him to be with Porschay. It feels like stuff is all over the place and it makes it hard to follow and empathize with the characters. Did we need that bj scene for kp in ep 11? (lots more to count there as useless), instead they could've focused more on other very interesting aspects of the series. Also what is it with Tay and Time? What is Tay implying? Istg if they let us hanging with this like they did for Big's death I'll really get mad. This series had potential but clearly needed better writing... imo ofc See y'all next week
some pretty good parts in this episode I must say, they put a good twist to the "third party jealousy" plot device, Tawan makes me so mad I wanna bang the walls but also he really makes me laugh like damn he's b*tchy and it's hilarious (Porsche as well). While im not a big fan of misunderstandings I get why it happened and I'm so mad at Vegas because this man is LITERALLY the cause of every issue ever??? he always comes back with puppy eyes being all friendly upfront when in reality his intents are so twisted and manipulative :') maybe they're trynna make him sympathetic but sorry I just can't see him that way, he is a deranged man and Bible plays him beautifully. And I wanna give Pete a hug. sue me. side couples feel kinda added in for now I like Kim and porschay but I would've liked for it to me a bit more intertwined with the main drama? Also can you imagine if Porsche ever comes home after all this, single without Kinn and ready to start a new life, only to find his little bro in Kinn's little brother's arms like?? :')) anyways see y'all next week
damn that was some god tiers acting in that last scene my full respect to the actor for being able to play something that intense and that close without laughing. For real the look in Apo's eyes was unmatched. Anyways I'm sure there is more to this ex story than Vegas said. Suspicious. And I'll never get over Bible's English. Goodnight y'all see you next week
I keep on seeing bad reviews so I had to throw my grain of salt. I don't think the drama is bad. Actually I find the two characters pretty refreshing, their chemistry isn't put into place with forceful keys like "holding eyes" or stuff like that I think they're pretty confortable around each other and it works to make them fall into a comfort routine that can be linked to a certain type of romance. The two characters complete each other in the best way possible, I also love that they both have a depth and a backstory, and one that isn't really cliche. I'm actually curious about Tommy and Han BaDa, I think that even if the production lacks a bit in some points, other points are really really good and refreshing as well. (warning spoilers) For exemple the feet washing scene? Never seen that in a drama before, but the meaning behind it and the vulnerability it holds really touched me. (end of spoiler?) I also find Holland to be a pretty good actor actually. His character is really natural and I think what makes him even more peculiar is the fact that he isn't your typical Korean beauty trained actor. There is something very charming about him. Also I won't talk about Gichan but we all know he can play and is actually really good in his role here as well. The only dark spot for me is: the girl like omg I wanna slap her so bad I swear she pisses me off badly. And the humor maybe at times? tho I'm not really taking this series seriously so the few unpredictable scenes (the car accident like?? I died laughing when I saw holland on the ground) made me laugh more than cringe. But it is also very calm and kind of endearing because its not about big romantic moves and cliche personalities, for once the "life of the party cheerful" character isn't that naive and obliviously happy. He is flawed and we can also feel it. To end this let me say that I get why some people complain about the lack of tension and the speed sometimes, but to me it's not that bothering. It's normal to have fights with someone you are getting to know, it can go south quickly, and it's not toxic or overwhelmingly annoying. I feel like this review was going everywhere but I'm glad If you took the time to read it till the end! on that note enjoy the rest of the show :)
another day of missing Gameplay for Jeff. Don't get me wrong, Barcode is doing a really good job but I always felt a special attachment to Jeff and Gameplay's chemistry, and even further than that, their chemistry while singing. Green Tea and Honey gave so much of them, their friendship and Gameplay's voice. I was so looking forward to see them in this series and I still can't get over Gameplay's departure from it. Barcode and Jeff's scene in ep 5 was fine but my mind kept coming back to how it would've sounded with Jeff and Gameplay while singing together. I guess it could pass as the series goes on and I really like Barcode. I just wanted to put this out there because it's been bugging me...
