Lol same. This is my first show of them I didnt even knew that they acted im other shows too. I just dont get…
I still don't get why he created Enchante... I decided to finish it only because Jimmy was supposed to be there - why so little? ๐ข
I have been re-watching Only Friends and mainly warchin Sand/Ray (and Nick+Sand - they are actually friends... Mew+Ray+Boston+Cheum - not so much IMO).
I'm new to BL dramas (only watched animes in the past). I just randomly found this show and it's my favorite aside…
Sand/Ray for me as well ๐
I would recommend one of my Thai faves: Not me. Thai BL are plentiful and sometimes it's hard to watch everything. People seem to love I Told Sunset About You and I Promises You The Moon but I will admit that I dropped it after 1st or 2nd EP. It wasn't bad (I watched a lot worst) I just couldn't get into it. Cinematography is beautiful, though.
Japan has like the craziest range, where you can find series that is basically a p*rn the whole time (End of the world with you) or not even hand holding (8.2 Second Rule) and all all in between. I would advice you to definitely check My Beautiful Man (2 seasons + movie), What Did You Eat Yesterday (they are releasing 2d season now and it has special + movie as well) and Zettai BL (2 seasons, it's based on manga and hilarious - basically makes fun of BL thropes).
Korea has usually short (10-30 min/EP) but packed series. Color Rush (nice but with dead fish kiss and 2nd season has different main), Blueming (2nd season is in the making), Light on Me (very sweet and quite long for the country), Love Class (each season is about different couples and the 2nd is better IMO), Semantic Error, The Eighth Sense, To My Star.
Taiwanese have usually more balanced series than Japanese ๐. Try: HIStory (it consists of multiple separate stories and fan faves are: 3 - Trapped and 4 - Make Or Days Count but let me warn you about the 2nd one - BE), Because of you, DNA says love you, We Best Love (was absule hit when it aired and I still want 3rd season focusing on the cousin-doc and student).
Now China does BL very differently due to censorship. Censorship really cracked on them after Addicted (they weren't even able to realese all EPs), so now they have to do it subtly but you can clearly see how they feel for eachother. Here are some not to miss: The Untamed (besed on wuxia novel, now officially translated; look for the bowing in front of ancestors tablets - it's how people got married ๐คญ), The World of Honour (also based on wuxia novel; I have no idea how this passed censorship as ML is flirty as hell), Killer and Healer (it's a hidden gem but unfortunately has BE for basically everyone - they gathered some scraps later and made alternative, HE for 1st copule, though; it's set in 1920's, I think), Justice in the Dark/The Abyss/Silent Reading (censorship cracked on this in February and stopped realese after 8 EPs), Stay With Me (remake of Addicted, filmed outside China so it's a bit riskier; 2nd season in the making which is important as 1st ended with cliffhanger; some say it's not what it's advertised to be but for me if you watch opening you get that it's about family).
Vietnam has Mr. Cinderella to show off (now releasing 2nd season) but BL industry is not as in other countries so it's quite low quality (I constantly see that there are fan meets with Thai BL actors in Vietnam, so it's not like it's not popular genre there ๐คทโโ๏ธ).
There is also Norwegian SKAM (=shame) Seaon 3 (each season focuses on 1 person from friends group and 3rd is about closeted Isak and guy he fells in love, Even, who has some issues I won't spoil). Series was so popular that like 7 other countries did remakes. As far as I know Seaon 1 and 2 are basically the same in all remakes (just a bit more country specific) but the changes start with S3. I watched Norwegian (4 seasons), French (12 seasons) and Italian (5 seasons) versions and all were great in their own way. My favourite S3 is FR (not just due to "painting" scene Luc and Elliot made ๐คญ - apparently they filmed in their own clothes and needed hours of shower afterwards ๐). FR has the added bonus of doing the most seasons, so Luc and Elliot appear in later seasons (I think up to 6th?) but there is no Elliot season, as oryginal creators wouldn't allow it. Definitely watch FRs trailer (1min).
Lol same. This is my first show of them I didnt even knew that they acted im other shows too. I just dont get…
I dropped Enchante and watched it till end due to Jimmy and his voice ๐ I agree with comments under that series that it was hard to tell who is whom sometimes. A Boss And A Babe was at least funny and I enjoyed most of that series (it got so-so towards the end). Here they are the least interesting couple ot of main 3, I agree. I am wondering if they have a bit of Moonlight Chicken issue: there as 1st couple were Earth/Mix but they were the least interesting to me, Liming/Heart ware my faves and Alan/Gaipa (again Firs/Khao) had almost non-existent pairing but I still liked them a lot more than the mains. Similarly My Engineer (my faves were the 3rd: King/Ram). Some series "suffer" from 2nd/3rd copule syndrome ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I refused to beleieve that this is gonna end in this week ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ This is soo goood! We get this goood show…
I am hoping (if the series is a big hit) that they might do it HIStory or Love Class way - new season with new set of friends (and occasional cameo from OGs), as I don't want to torture those guys anymore (and we all now how they would have to break them all up for next season ๐).
Not me was thinking that they'll do 3some lol ๐๐ I hate my mind plus Ray mentioned 3some too in previous…
It's his scare tactic, a total bluff. He did it to Amm (girl leaving with Sand in EP2), "Freddie Mercury" and Nick - it's just Boening taking him up on a challenge which he was not expecting.
See, my problem with second seasons is that they always feel they need to break everyone up and start from scratch.…
I would not be counting on there being season 2 - they hardly happen in BL. If they wanted to do S2 they could go HIStory or Live Class route and make each season about different couples (perhaps with cameos from OGs).
I might be in the minority but in my humble opinion neither Ray or fruitloop Boeing deserve to be with Sand. Ray…
Have you thought that perhaps Sand needs to fix other's messes? Like with his mother (Ray reminds me a lot of her). I also think that after Boening he might be looking for somebody who would be crazy about him and not dump him for the next shiny thing (Ray had "Mew episode" but it's a bit different - white moonlight is hard to resist). Fruit loop? More like green tea b*tch! ๐
I question my judgment for watching this in the airport yesterday as I was waiting for my plane back from the…
I haven't watched the series yet but I read the novel. So in Diao's mind if the marriage gets postponed Yi would loose face and hence Diao's family could never bother him for money (they have been leechin for years). Yi's dad told Diao that he would help him if he managed to escape for at least 30min and then told Yi that he would help him if he got Diao in under 30min. At the end it looked like Diao's friends were helping Yi. The final betrayer? Nong! ๐ Still the whole thing made little sense to me.
Sand helped Ray to face his issue, fight with his addition (not sure how successfully seeing how he had drink…
I am not excusing Ray. There are however people who need other people. By that I mean that they need to be fulfilled by doing things for the other, they find purpose in making them happy. Is that healthy? Hell no! It's similar with his rehab - why did he came? Because Sand wanted it. I hope for him it all starts with doing something for Sand but end up doing it for himself.
any recommendation for similar shows? Preferably not western. Thanks!
Depends on which part(s) got you hooked. If you want toxic mess, then in recommendation there is "Love Mechanics". I haven't watched Friendzone but read that it's similar. Together with Me (it has "preque": Bad Romance) has some messy relationship (they basically sleep together at the beginning on 1st EP and one is in a relationship with a girl) and you get the added bonus of "grandfather's of BL", i.e. Max/Tul. Kinnporshe (with actual SA is the novels but here kind of romanticised) - only shhh in the comments, as we are tying to beat them ๐ Kiss [me again]/[Dark Blue] kiss - it actually has 3 series but 1st (Kiss) focuses on straight couples. Moonlight Chicken has some relationship drama but I watched it (like most) for 2nd couple (Liming/Heart) and for literal crumbs from 3rd (played by the same actors as Sand/Ray). You want a lot of mess and toxicity (even physical violence)? Love Syndrom is at your disposal. From other countries: History 1 - Obsessed - here we have kind of time-traveling to avoid past mistakes (it's not SF) and we end up making somebody super obsessed. Light on me - also messy relationships in highschool but in a quite light way (I don't mean it's comedy). The Eighth Sense The End of the world with you - we get backstory of how messed up their relationship was My beautiful man - I think in EP4 (season 1) you get "kings" perspective and it makes you look differently on their relationship Zettai BL(...) - if you like comedy that makes fun of BL thorpes you should check it out (it's from POV of "mob" = background character, who realised that he is in BL manga and all the guys around him are going to get together)
SKAM S03 - this series started in Norway and each season is about different person from friends group. Season 3 is about Isak who is closeted and the boy he meets (Even has mental issues). The series was such a hit that there are remakes in like 7 other countries. I watched FR and IT. All 3 versions had Season 1 and 2 basically the same (they just more country specific). The differences are starting from season 3. People say that Norwegian version is the best but I personally really liked FR and they expanded more on Luc's and Elliot relationship in further seasons (NO had only 4 seasons) but could not do Elliot season due to oryginal creators not allowing it. On of the further seasons has GL (they made 12 seasons so far).
Boston and Nick give me high-school-sweethearts-vibes-meet-adult-realism. Boston's transformation from a playboy…
Sand helped Ray to face his issue, fight with his addition (not sure how successfully seeing how he had drink in the pool...) and to have some goals in life (earning money to go to the festivals with Sand is a start, I think). What is so bad to like to travel together? It's not like they plan just to travel (I see it more like vacation plan). Thy both grew, are more honest with eachother and different people's relationships look different. I think that being there for your partner and supporting them is a big part of it.
Can any of the 3 couples make it realistically? I think that Mew/Top have the lowest chance - Top would have to tip-top or gets "dark Mew" and they would fight (there are toxic couples that can exist in such a setting but still ๐ฎโ๐จ). Ray would get jealous of somebody looking at Sand and blow up. How much if that can Sand take? Here I am afraid that Nick has too soft heart and can forgive a lot, so Boston might take some risks and then we get back to creepy spying and downward spiral. So the verdict is... none? Just joking - they all have chance but relationships need constant work, so if they are committed not only to each other but to make it last and be good partners they can.
Onlyfriends is one of the many shows I'm watching that I really looked forward to every weekend. I read many comments…
I think they met in uni. Cheum mentioned that Boston knew her bro since the were year 1 (when she accused him od SA her bro) and I think that Boston mentioned number if years of "Mew owning Ray's" (end of EP5). Ray kissed Mew like 2 years earlier (Boston told this to Top in the car). Now they are graduating.
I decided to finish it only because Jimmy was supposed to be there - why so little? ๐ข
