I didn't understand why this drama had so much hype at the time, but after marathoning it for the past three days, why did it take so long to hop on???!!! This drama was just AAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shin Sung Rok.....was what made me watch this drama until I had enough. I felt like he should have been with Jung Eun Ji's character because simply his character was so unusual, his interactions with her was sometimes puzzling, funny, and sometimes registered a dumbfounded look on my face.

His character wasn't the same cookie cutter which was obvious with Ji Hyun Woo's character. A jerk in all sense (and I watched most shows with jerks and they slowly evolve and I fall for the,) but his character was a level of jerkiness that couldn't and didn't get better for me as the episodes went on. Only that it made me wish that Shin Sung Rok's character was the male lead and that there might be some redeemable characteristics left in continuing.

This was one of my first dramas that i started watching and despite how the ending is, there is something that always draw me back to this drama. Maybe because of the leads chemistry, the story, and the camaraderie I felt with the characters, and just the simple fact the drama had me bust out in laughter every second or so or feel like crying when things became complicated for the leads. Even though the ending left more to be desire, I just can't stop re-watching as it felt for the first time that i wasn't watching a drama and just letting characters unroll and go on and about with their daily lives.
On Marry Me, Mary! Apr 26, 2016
The utter garbage this drama was pisses me off because once again it didn't start that way and I really liked..but i just couldn't stay for the trainwreck. At the time I was really in love with Jang Geun Suk's drama and as soon as this come out I immediately waited for subs and watched. But after a period of time....I just felt that the story began to drag and this unending loop of who the heck she was going to end up with despite knowing she was going to end up with Jang Geun Suk's character despite me not liking him very much.

Poor Kim Jae Wook, I have been waiting to see him in lead role for years because he has the acting chops to back up with that handsome face and this drama felt like he was slowly squandering away his abilities in taking this up and having his abilities be put to waste.
On Devil beside You Apr 26, 2016
This drama was one of the second dramas I watched after BOF and these are one of those oldies that are definitely goldies. These remind me of the good ole days when dramas might not have a great budget to have special effects, extras, or grand or elaborate stages and scenes but they stuck to heart of a good plot, strong characters, and an overall great story.

I know this is a late reply but agree with Musikklass, don't waste your time. The summary or synopsis is nothing like what actually happens and focuses more so on her reconnecting with her long lost mother and her family. The leads had chemistry (in my opinion) but the constant idiocy of some supporting characters and the unending loop the plot was unfolding into was just something to stay away from.
On Beautiful Secret Apr 26, 2016
I liked this drama but dropped it after a while. I loved the leads chemistry and despite the minor problems of annoying supporting characters I still loved the show. But what I disliked was the expectancy of getting what was promised based on the summary. I expected a simple drama where a girl from nowhere becomes famous and hits it big as a singer. Instead we are derailed into something completely different. I felt overall why I dropped it was because I noticed it wasn't sure where it wanted to head and I didn't want to be along the ride or waste my time. It started off with so much promise, but felt like more thought could have been put into the plot.

I am not going to say if it was overhyped or not but can say this drama was not my cup of tea. I don't like commenting on something unless I tried and I did so with this drama. Even while airing I was hesistant in watching, not for more episodes because it felt like it might be a waste of time. But I eventually caved in and tried, and 30 minutes. That has been the shortest time I have watched and dropped a drama, less than 30 minutes I stopped. I will usually give a drama 4-5 sometimes pushing it up to 10 episodes until I call it quits as I try really hard to give it another chance or hope that things might get better. But I....just couldn't.

The characters had me scratch my head on one end or just completely had me draw a blank. The romance and I love me some romance and the cheesier the better, but for some reason the romance or the pick up line from the main male character to the female lead character after meeting her in less than 5-10 minutes had me rolling my eyes.

In the end, I will say DOTS has caused a lot of stir internationally so I guess a plus plus on either side but plot wise and character wise it just wasn't my thing.

I was insanely bored of watching my usual dramas so was on viki and began perusing through what i call the "other end" if viki where its usually really great dramas and movies buried under current or popular shows. I found this not really expecting much but dang...the lead Jindachote Sean had me go straight into nostalgia as he reminded me of another actor from a different country, Barun Sobt, when he was in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon, and I was done. I couldn't, because I fell for Sean and his little smirks, his smile, his walk, and that little weird air or atmosphere he had about him that reminded me of Barun and knew i was goner and was going to finish this show. This show was absolutely lovely, fantastic, and i loved the second leads as much as the first as both couples were so great and fantastic.

This was my first lakorn and I am sure and in fact KNOW for a fact it won't be my last. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend.

I am currently enjoying this drama and if not giving this drama a try a second time, i was ready to drop this drama after three episodes. Although it felt so slow in the beginning, I agree around episode 6, the show figures out what it wants to do and gets into the direction it wants to go and ever since it doesn't look back. I really, really great lakorn.

I kinda wanna watch this but after doing research on some lakorns, I gotta ask: this doesn't have rape in it,…
I am currently on episode 19 and so far there has been no rape at all, except for a scene where a shifty photographer tries to get the girl to pose nude but the lead comes in time to save her but other than that nope.

Title Secret Love Affair Spoiler
It doesn't bother me for romances where the actors have a considerable age difference or when the taboo topic of adultery comes up, what matters if there is chemistry (addressing the age difference in the actors/actresses) and how the story surrounding the adultery. Basically, is everything is presented in a realistic manner or sealed into a nice cute little bow tie.

That is what i loved about this show that although it brings up the subject of adultery, it focuses more on decisions. On deciding what to do within our lives. on settling for a safe option or living our life to the fullest. That is what happened to Hye Won where she decided to settle in the perfect job, house, husband, and life. But beneath it all, its all a shame. She is a just an indispensable pawn and puppet for her bosses, her husband is an immature baby and a coward who used her as a stepping stone for his ambitions, and she lives in the same repeated mundane cycle and lives in a cold home. I felt like this story presented us with more than an affair but to chase our dreams and no matter how lame it might sound, life can only be lived once.

although I disagree with Hye Won entering into an affair, but I loved her character, fighting between wanting to reclaim what she lost in her youth, to break free, and finally be able to choose love rather than convenience. she spent the past 20 years in a cage and Kim Hee Ae did such a wonderful portrayal of this slow "evolution" of her character. the headstrong, independent, and dependable woman that had control over everything, Kim Hee Ae showed us the cracks, the vulnerability, the hidden passions and desires that she wanted to do but locked away.

Also I also have to say I already fell for Yoo Ah In in Sungkyunkwan Scandal, but I fell completely in love with him in this drama. Although his character development wasn't as hashed out as Kim Hee Ae's character, Hye Won, I felt the innocent character chasing a dream in the beginning slowly evolved after his mother's death into the same proposition Hye Won was presented 20 years ago: chase her dream or settle for convenience. However, thanks to Hye Won, she helped wake him up into choosing what she gave up on, which was Yoo Ah In's character dream.

Although the ending might have felt like what next, what about them, what about the leads happy ending....but to be honest, I felt so fulfilled because this story wasn't about the affair, the adultery, or about Sun Jae and Hye Won as a couple. It was about Hye Won or rather that person that choosed to be trapped into a safe and mundane life that they can choose to be free. That no matter how out of rails life can get or how trapped it may be, you can still find a way in being happy, being free, and accepting the future and life that you want. You will have to make sacrifices and that is the challenge, but once you do you will be happy.

Sorry for the long review but its been years since I last watched but this is still fresh in my mind as being a drama that I really held dear as being one of the best dramas I watched.

I tried finishing this drama because of Ye Seul and I love her acting but I agree with a previous comment that for some reason I cannot watch any of Sung Joon's previous shows. Its not that he can't act, he can and is a really great actor in my opinion, its just that his characters come off too unappealing. I have dealt with characters that have been on the worse end of the spectrum and there is some growth within the character but to me, it seemed within this particular drama, Sung Joon's character never changed from the beginning to the end. The same jerk that started from the beginning continued to the end. I couldn't take it anymore and had to stop watching.

I tried with this drama because of watching the female lead in Apple in your eye, but I had to drop this drama. This drama could have been good without them giving him amnesia in Episode 5. I felt like they were on a good track until the pull out dramas old adage of amnesia and since then had Shao Qing become a complete nutcase. In the end they could have had the male lead realize he loved his childhood friend all along but it would have been too late as she moved on with the lawyer, but instead the writers lead themself so far into s*** they didn't know what to do from there. This drama hurts because it had the potential to be good but failed once again in the direction and the writing.

I don't know why but I just loved this drama. Its been a while since I watched but I have loved every show of Ella Chen and disappointed that she doesn't act in that many dramas but this was one of the best I have seen her in and would love to rewatch.
