I'm thinking about to watch this drama, but I'm not sure yet.Can someone please let me know, what this drama is…
The previous post summed it up really well. It was a drama that had a whole package that really focused on the republican area. There is hints of romance but it was not heavily emphasized due to the military setting but this was one of the rare dramas that I still go back to time and time again as it is very rare for me to watch any dramas nowadays. There was a huge emphasis on characterization and one of the rare dramas where you will focus on every character involved as there were growth for main leads, their friends, and even the so called villains. Like someone mentioned, I think this is one of Xu Kai's best drama (at least to me) as his character moved beyond a rich spoiled brat. Bai Lu, she played such a convincing male character and the reasoning behind her disguising herself is enduring and heartbreaking. Give it a watch if you haven't already. It is slow in the beginning but don't give up as the story does pick up and it becomes more intriguing.
I'm not going to lie... this was not my cup of tea. It's not that I don't enjoy slow dramas, but something just…
Lack of interest. I really liked the ML and the FL, just felt the story was not holding my interest. It felt predictable. It might not be the show, most dramas do not hold my interest nowadays and gave this a shot thinking it might spark interest.
Thank you Ari and Cho Na for this article. Back in high school, I was introduced to Taiwanese dramas due to DBY and was obsessed in trying to watch all her dramas. Its been a decade since then and though my interest in a lot of Asian dramas have dwindled, I still remember the nostalgia of those days.
That was the first and only drama where I wanted the main female lead to end up with the second lead. His character was amazing and he accepted the female lead before her makeover and post makeover.
When news of F4 first came out I remember I let out a very loud scoff and said "Not another one". But my boy Win…
All I can say is.... Watch it. I haven't been watching dramas for almost a year or so, and this version of BOF has me glued. Its a breath of fresh air ( i have been saying this repeatedly) especially if you have watched the previous versions. Just walk in it with no expectations and just be surprised.
The directors and screenwriters are visibly aware of this being the 4th adaptation and they have to bring something new to the table. I can appreciate when a team behind a drama attempts to step up, is aware of their audience, and doesn't insult them with regurgitated nonsense. All the actors and actresses are bringing their A-game and the OST is another bonus as well.
Yeah, I actually am impressed with her acting, amongst all the main characters, even compared to Bright and Win…
I usually binge watch a couple of episodes at once but I saw her next project, i think its with GMMTV as well and its already saved for me to watch later. She is going to go far if she ready to tackle complex characters. I would love to see a rom-com down the line but i think its a smart career move to start off with such complex characters.
Mind you, this is my first project in watching Bright and Win and I am also loving their portrayal of their characters. Especially with Win's portrayal of Kavin, he is pulling out more dynamics of the typical playboy F4 member. There are hints of that coldness and manipulation, though it could be fully fleshed out, perhaps in the upcoming episodes.
Amazing review. Really enjoying the Thailand version and the breath of fresh air that it is bringing. I keep getting shocked that Tu is a newbie as her depth of emotions is something that most actors/actresses achieve after several years in the industry. If this is her range with just this first project then I'm excited to see more of what she has to offer. Loving the chemistry between Thyme and Gorya and although Dew's portrayal of Ren had me almost getting SLS, I'm still rooting for Thyme and Gorya.
This is real? For real? Like really reals? I was literally in pins and needles thinking this might be a joke but it's real??? Woohooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!
I watched a lot of Kdramas but this drama left something in my heart. Already watched it for 3 times and still…
Most people don't acknowledge that second season on the Chinese version. After the time travel ban in China, they had to seriously scrap and edit that season to the point it became utter trash.
Have to agree with mimi0108. I watched the Chinese version first and fell heads over in heels in love and declared that another version couldn't compare and that I would never ever fall in love with any other adaptation. Fast forward towards the end of this series in 2016/2017 and I was crying in sadness , happiness, frustration at the ending.
I went in with the expectation that both versions will be different especially since the Chinese version came out in 2011 and a lot of older and well established actors were involved compared to the Korean drama that used mainly idols or visual pleasing actors or actresses. The Chinese version felt mature and they tried to be as historically accurate as possible compared to the Korean drama.
I remember reading hana yori dango when I was in middle school and once, I got hooked into Asian dramas I watched every adaptation that was made. Cannot really say I have a favorite version, rather have appreciated each country’s flair and take on the manga's story.
So, when the Thailand version popped up it was during a time of me taking a long hiatus off of dramas. The first trailer in 2020 reminded me of an old school drama and knew that I had to watch this version when it came out. I can say that after watching the first four episodes that has come out so far, I can say that the Thailand version brings a breath of fresh air into the series. There is character development and an actual thought process as to why characters are reacting the way they are. It's not being flung or thrown out of nowhere. When a character is sad, stressed, angry, happy, or shy you are seeing them walk through their emotions. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it feels as if you are not watching a drama but seeing these characters play out their lives before you. You can see they are not trying to mimic the manga as the other versions have already done so. You can see the director and screenwriter gives credit to its audience, in knowing that we have watched at least one version of the drama adaptations and offering a new flavor for this version. This version explores darker themes such as bullying, suppression, pressure, self-esteem, poverty, and identity. It makes it complex, not letting it be used for slapstick humor, comedy, or for puns sake as the other versions reduced these themes into. It’s trying to make messages, several, in the state of Thailand but also with the state of today’s modern world.
All the characters feel completely different from other versions and I am really loving the chemistry between Thyme and Gorya. In the other versions I was dead set in shipping the main leads, as logically I knew they were Domyouji and Makino so they were going to end up together. But in this version, I am actually rooting for them to be together and interested in seeing how they will end up together. They remind me of the manga with the constant fighting and bickering/flirting between one another. I cannot wait to see what else is in store for this drama and I am really enjoying this pacing.
I’ sorry i don’t get it, how’s it different from the other versions??
No they were saying the hana yori dango series is different from any other drama out there. The era for dramas like hana yori dango has slowly fazed out and its not the same.
Acting is superb..Overall I liked the storyline..The female lead is really smart..I think 'cunning' may be the…
I never thought the female lead fell in love with the emperor, more so for survival and revenge. Even in the end, i always thought she gave her heart to Fu Heng.
Secret and kleun cheewit have been the best love/hate dramas i have watched and cannot say which was better as both were amazing. The same way i watched each episode in 2013 when secret aired, the same way in 2017 i watched each episode of kleun cheewit. One thing for sure, that complex writing, acting, and plot hasnt been replicated in any other drama i have watched thus far.
In actuality, the foster brother was originally the leading man, with CEO Terry as the 2ML. Half way through the…
That makes sense. At the time I watched, I thought the second lead was James Wen's character and they were trying to have the second lead end up with the female lead. Didnt know it was the other way around. It should have been a given with Chris Wu acting. Even when they have his character play second lead, the actor's charisma and portrayal of the character have you rooting for him to get the girl.
Still watching but based on the spoilers, it seems to be an ambigious ending with no heads or tails. It seems that it inferred that the leads ended up together.
It might not be the show, most dramas do not hold my interest nowadays and gave this a shot thinking it might spark interest.
