Does this have a tragic/sad ending like many historical dramas?
Not really, i mean in the end the main leads end up together. They struggle to get a happy ending and the male lead did have a harem but he loved only the female lead

One thing that puzzles me is what the heck is going on with Gang's actor? They used a different actor for group…
Wasnt it around the time China was banning Korean actors and dramas? I think the person who played Gang was originally Korean and to still air the drama they got a chinese actor to fill in the scenes of the korean actor. Thats the only thing i didnt like about the drama. It was tok obvious that he was not originally in the same screen
I would suggest back to 1989. I would say its one of those time travel dramas that was done really well with a great plot, story, and great character development.
I didn't think I was going to like this drama but the female lead struggle as a nurse reminds me of the current struggle I am going through and I just cannot stop laughing and relating to her growth and struggle as a nurse. I'm loving her interaction with the male lead and his stoic nature and deadpan replies having me wheezing in laughter. Its one big pile of happiness and sweetness in one lump sum of a drama.
if i'm lowkey tired of legal drama would I like this? is there a lot of court room scenes? heavy legal blabla?
I undetstand where u coming from with legal dramas but this show is different. As the previous comment mentioned, each case is related to one another and it shapes the leads character. You see the multilayered depth of each leads and they are not one dimensional. I might not be saying this correctly but I really like shows that make me think and you get this here. The leads chemistry is electric fire and there is sparks each time they meet. There is a mix of mystery, intrigue, and suspense and I would recommend you watch this drama. Please note, the leads characters are not one note. They are going to make decions and do actions that will have you question in rooting for them but they grow throughout the show.
I'm still working but I get to watch some turkish dramas along with watching Hyena, the lakorn version of Deja Vu, Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo, and rewatching old dramas.
Really love this version, it makes more sense to me as to how they fell in love and the female lead is not constantly sad all the time. You can feel her love and longing without her having to cry every second compared to the Taiwanese drama female lead. Really love Esther's potrayal and love the chemistry between her and the male lead, just all around adorable and cute.
Wasn't so sure in atching this drama but the first two episode were so unexpecte, funny, hilarious, and intriguing, I usually dont care too much for law dramas but this is so interesting and intriguing to watch. Its been a very long time since any kdrama has me lingering in watching the net episode. Their characters are complex and hanging on the lines of immoral but they are realistic. You can feel each and everyone's emotions, drive, desire, and urge to push ahead and to prove themselves. The acting potential of both male and females leads are heavily carrying this show as it can otherwise be mundane, boring, or even tiring to see the leads eventually fall in love, instead it is intriguing and each interaction is either electric fire, hilarious, or just plain raw. Really love this show and cannot wait for each week for new episodes.
Thank you for the article. Kdramas was my first love and now I have moved on. I have found myself unable to watch any new kdramas except Crash Landing on You (not for the romance but strangely the leads relationship with the supporting characters) and Hyena (more so the competition and chemistry between the leads have me keep coming back). Something went "off" in the recent years with kdramas that it doesn't have the extra something that would keep you glued in watching the next episode. I find myself rewatching older kdramas or other Asian dramas.
As you mentioned, I get the romantic fix from Chinese dramas and some lakorns every now and then but I do at times like watching kdramas but nothing is too appealing to me so I end up running back to other Asian dramas to watch.
I didnt think I will like it but after the second episode i really love the dynamics of the main leads with the supporting characters. Although the leads chemistry to me is more so cute and not as electrifying as I thought it would be, I love how ALL the characters are being given a chance to shine.
May I know where do you watch this? Is it on Viki?
U can try kissasian but i watched it on ondemandkorea.com. The only downfall is that on ondemandkorea there are ads but if ur willing to pay a dollar, ads are blocked for 24 hours.
At Episode 4 right now. I would really like to continue watching this, because the production quality is so high…
I would say in reality he has shown kindness, because in real life she would have been dead along with all the other rebels who are plotting to kill the emperor. He does show more care and you will see how he is trying to protect her but at that same time maintain his wits and protect his family.
I liked it and after 7 episodes it just stopped clicking for me. I liked the leads and their chemistry, the story as well, but I feel like the supporting characters is what is killing it for me. I might give it another chance.
I can watch this drama over and over again and not get tired. This is the best romantic historical kdrama I have watched and its been nine years since I first watched this series. Park Shi Boo and Moon Chae Won delivered their strongest caliber of acting in this that the chemistry is so freaking raw and fresh no matter how many times you watch. I really miss this type of engaging plot, complex characters, and unique storytelling from Korean dramas nowadays....
