Let’s get the facts straight it was Lee Tae father that framed Lady Yoo father not PGW; PGW gained nothing from her death in fact it did him harm. He wanted Lee Tae mother to be deposed not dead. Only Lee Tae and his father knew about the suicide; however; yes you are right PGW is responsible for the destruction of her family.

I am not rooting for her either; she stated that she will not share her husband; considering the era in which she lives and her noble status she surely must know that it is an unrealistic expectation, even if she was made Queen polygamy in the royal families was normal; her being naive is borderline stupidity. He never once told her he loved her; in fact in a couple of occasions she annoyed him. Her father knew the score; who is using who?

I think the archer might be PGW man if she gives him the wrong answer he will give him a signal to kill her. He should kill Lady Cho instead !!!

Let’s not forget one important factor Lee Tae is the root cause of Lady Yoo problems and indirectly the cause of her family destruction . That is why he is feeling guilty and tries to protect her. His mother suicide masked as an assassination was her family doom. I believe that after his father died, only Tae knows that his mother committed suicide hence the conversation in front of the temple between Lady Yoo and PGW on ep 8. PGW might suspect and uncovering the truth could lead to a division between Lee Tae and Lady Yoo; I am not sure; only speculating; we will see how the chess pieces are moved in the next round. One thing is for sure getting rid of PGW is not an easy task it is not just getting rid of one person but of a whole system behind him. I agree that PGW is a villain /hero his beliefs must have been born from past traumas hence his dead eyes and his scary demeanour. It will be interesting to see if they reveal his past. Lee Joon acting is the most difficult task, he has to portray an array of different facets; from being teary and longing in front of Lady Yoo,, showing rage and hate in front of PGW, despising the Queen Dowager with a poker face, pretending to like Lady Cho but also making the audience aware that he doesn’t ; so many; he is doing a good job. This drama is very exciting and unpredictable.

I used to agree with you but thinking back he wasn’t always weak; as a teen he displayed courage by making Lady Yoo the crown princess with disastrous consequences. When his father died a tight leash was put around his neck and his every movement was monitored. Since then I don’t think he had a happy day in his life, his eyes seem to be full of rage, grief and guilt he can only be himself in front of Lady Yoo (that’s why the tears). The leash became a little loose when his Queen died and so the less than honourable plan to marry Lady Cho to gain support was concocted. He was trying to fight to gain power the only way he could so he didn’t resign to be a puppet king and considering the constraints surrounding him it shows some kind of back bone. We don’t really know what kind of king he can be as he was never allowed to rule. It will be interesting to see how things develop from now on; all the chess pieces are in place and the mysterious monk character is very intriguing.

Yes you are correct; so the only person that knows that the former Queen killed her self is Lee Tae as he was there at the time. Things will get interesting.

I agree; at the same time we have to take into consideration the era of this drama; women then were used as commodities by their families in order to achieve wealth, power and a strong position in society . I think it was quite common practice to sell out a daughter for that. It is lovely to see people opinions and I love all of your comments.

You need to rewatch ep 1 to fully understand ; I will try to summarise: Yoo Jun was selected as crown princess even though her family had ties to a rival political faction. In the eye of PGW this would be seen as gathering power to go against him and the officials; therefore he decided to stage a protest by claiming that Lee Tae mother was a traitor and she should be deposed. His claim to her being a traitor was based on the fact that her family was the subject of the previous king whom PGW got rid of and that her and Yoo Jun father were plotting treason. Lee Tae father was powerless against these accusations. In order to protect her son Lee Tae mother took poison in front of him (so he must know that she killed herself? She also mildly poisoned him) and died making it appear as though someone tried to assassinate them both (she said she would die as a queen). Though Lee Tae father knew exactly was she had done he had little choice but to let PGW place the blame on the Sarim the political faction Yoo Jung father belonged to and so all her family was executed. Therefore I am not sure if PGW knows to this day that Lee Tae mother killed herself and perhaps what he said in the preview of ep9 is a mean to divide Lee Tae and Lady Yoo? His mind works in mysterious ways 😊. Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I don’t hate her she is a fictional character after all; why would I hate her? I see your point and you are right; however, she never showed any compassion or kindness therefore I don’t feel a bit sorry about her. 😊

It was most satisfying to see the smug smile of Lady Cho being wiped off her face. She never showed any kindness towards Lady Yoo even for one minute, she just displayed superiority in the belief that she was chosen out of love. She is so naive and has no clue about palace politics all her father did was spoil her; everyone else was aware why LT wanted to marry her and many hints were given. She treats her servants as disposables and hides behind her father as soon as a problem arises; she gloated when Lady Yoo was humiliated and badly treated by LT. How LT even considered making her Queen is beyond me; I suppose desperation. We shall see how LT will deal with her father; she could become a problem and a chain.

It was amusing watching LT walking into Lady Cho chamber; his face looked like he was going to a funeral and at the same time he was thinking about Lady Yoo. I don’t feel sorry for the brat; if she was to have his child with a mother like her he wouldn’t be a good person. She is not Queen material.

Wow what an episode; finally LT has chosen; I think PGW is in awe of Lady Yoo; no one has shown him such strength of character and foresight she is as formidable as he is. I love this drama. Angst to come they will have to fight for their love.

Yes agree; this drama feels like a tragedy. I read somewhere that this drama was compared to Romeo and Juliet; well in this case they both died to reconcile their families.😭

Il mio personaggio preferito e’ Lady Yoo, coraggiosa ed intelligente specialmente quando si e’ resa conto che il Re l’ha abbandonata nonostante la dichiarazione d’ amore e cosi’ ha deciso di andare per il suo sentiero per proteggere la sua gente. Il Re fino adesso e’ patetico si appoggia alle donne via matrimonio per supporto politico e ogni due minuti piange. Il Re ha causato I problemi di Lady Yoo e la distruzione della sua famiglia.

Yes you are right how can the King even think of appointing this brat as the queen of the country she is so immature and selfish has no idea about any important issues all she wants is his love. Her as queen would be a disaster. His desperation and desire for power has clouded his judgment; I hate it when he smiles at her and pretend to like her. I think his plan will backfire at some stage.

Agree 100%; what is the King political agenda? We know that PGW wants the noble class to rule over everyone; YG cares about the people before herself; she wants to give hope (ie the eggs scenario), but the king wants absolute power; does he really care about his people? He seems to me he is clueless about what is happening outside the palace and he is using women to get what he wants; his so called love almost got her killed and her family was decimated; what kind of love is that?

Hello everyone I am new to this so please have patience; I love all of your comments and find them interesting. In my opinion Yoo Jeong revealed her identity to PGY because of no other choice. She pushed both PGY and LT in a corner out of necessity. She tried to sway LT into making her queen but he told her again that she is of no use to him and he will treat her as PGY niece. This also happened when he abandoned and humiliated her.on the previous episode. So she told him to go ahead on his path and she will go ahead on hers. She understood that he was not going to choose her as Queen as she is not useful to him. LT does not portray a lover that wants to really protect her; how hurtful must his words have been; he just wants power. Should she have chosen to go out of the palace she would probably be dead. On the other hand she wants to protect herself and the people that depend on her; she told him that she dreamed of clearing her father’s name but that was not possible now and that she no longer want to live as a corpse. Maybe she is abandoning him; I must say she is my favourite character, she is very intelligent and brave I think PGY found his match. I find LT a bit pathetic and so easily prone to tears; she is so much more. Now we shall see how playing her chess piece will plan out ; PGY knows that LT saved a traitor daughter. Will LT have to choose her as a Queen? How will their relationship develop? This drama never ceases to surprise us !!!
