I haven't watched that episode yet; but I have seen snippets of the drama where Lady Su is wearing a half gold mask; there is a reason for it; so hopefully if the novel is followed she will not be taken in as a concubine.
If the drama follows the book she is no match for XQ and WS is indifferent towards her in the romantic sense. He only has lingering feeling of gratitude for her; but I donât know if the drama will follow the book. In the book XQ is a time traveller and she knows that lady Su is a nasty bâŠ..h; in her previous life lady Su married WS as concubine and then became the Empress when her cousin died.
She used to be a childhood friend of WS and helped him when his father was killed. In the book they were supposed to get together but she made a different choice to fulfil her ambitions and discarded WS. His grandmother and mother despise her. She is vicious and horrible and has plans on WS. In the book she was cruelly punished by him as her true colours were revealed.
Do not read the below; if you donât want to know spoilers
The drama so far roughly follows the book; in the book WS is much more horrible and cruel to XQ; he is sexually abusive to her; and never considers her feelings and emotions. His mindset is that she owes him because of what her family did to his; so although he develops feelings for her, he takes what he wants regardless. Later he treats her better. His mother has half a brain and in the book causes a few problems; his father was lukewarm towards his mother and WS was never really close to her. WS respects and loves his grandmother. In the book WY is besotted with XQ; she is extremely beautiful and alluring and he falls for her to the point of obsession and eventually has to leave the Wei family. The book is more interesting but I understand that the drama must to be toned down otherwise it would never pass censorship. I think it is also difficult to be able to portray book descriptions and depth of characters with images. So far I am enjoying the drama and look forward to watch it every day.
what's the significance to the final scene with XY and her gege when he asked her to take the red flower and wear…
To me that is the flower of regret. At that moment if he could have gone back in time he would have chosen a different path. His mum wanted him to give that flower to his wife but he sacrificed his true love for political power. He never really loved the women that he married they were just commodities to achieve his goal. Sad

The red flower is the Rio Mu clan mystical flower and it belonged to his mother and since forever always worn by the clan leader or the clan leader wife. The flower is not just a mystical flower itâs also the token that can command the Ru Mu clanâs military force; his mum wanted CX to give it to his wife.
I just saw on the trailer that XY wants to kill CX for killing Jing??? CX killed Jing? I thought Jing and XY end…
Yes In the novel just before XY and Jing wedding CX helps Huo (Jing older brother) to murder Jing. As a consequence Jing disappears for 7 years presumed dead and then XY find out the truth so she tries to kill CX. The relationship with CX is complicated and it come to a head in a dramatic way. We need to prepare for a lot of heartbreaks.
"So I would assume he lost his general title and became a slave (maybe?). How did he get back, like did he secretly…
Itâs a blood oath that LBY and CSS make with each other. They bite each other arms. During LBY banishment CSS sees many doctors to make the bite scar fade (implying that she wants to forget him) thatâs why LBY bites her again and they have a fight.
Just want to write an appreciation post for how the author has created very believable characters! I think we…
To me LBY character is the most straightforward: he is a very passionate man whether it is love or hate he goes all out with a single mind, it doesnât matter to him if he will burn or die. The spanner in the works is CSS and so slowly we see different sides of his personality but his focus never changes.
other than being demoted, how will end up CP?will he be married after?
The Empress will die after LBY returns from banishment, the emperor does not die in the novel; I believe he dies in the Epilogue but I have not read it yet.
Two things that I really look forward to see in the drama (and probably will make me bawl my eyes out) are when…
I donât think they are engaged for long. There is a scene in the novel: LBY enters the carriage with YS, CSS and the 5th prince and blatantly asks CSS to marry him in front of everyone, he doesnât hide the fact that he wants her back. . He didnât intend to go back with her, he decided to stay single and watch over her from afar, but when he sees her he changes his mind. The novel ends with CSS saying he is the best man in the world, I think she finally realises that her heart belongs to him and that she cares about him more than herself.

He will be given a title and lands, he will divorce his present wife and remain single. When the deposed empress wanted to see CSS married before she dies, CSS proposed marriage to CP but he was so shocked that he fell down the stairs and hurt himself. I hope they show that in the drama đ

Yes I agree 100% but he will change even in the latest episodes he tries to protect her and looks after her family in prison. Her dad defecting is not in the novel it was QiQi dad that was in trouble instead. Her mum will regret her behaviour towards CSS but in the novel the relationship with her mother and her greedy grandmother is never mended.
