I think that Lady Luo (5th princess aide) is the woman that will get engaged to LBY towards the end of his exile but our boy only agrees to the engagement as an excuse for his return and to snatch CSS back. Loved it how LBY described what CSS meant to him in front of the emperor and stated he would only marry her, he stands firm. Wang Jin and Yao cousin Lou Lin should get a hobby instead of harassing CSS all the time. Yes; he is so conceited and he can’t believe that she has zero interest in him, so his jealousy makes him behave in an awful manner towards her. CSS doesn’t see him as a man just a nuisance. Has anyone watched the trailer for ep 26? Looks lIke LBY father (uncle in reality) doesn’t approve of his marriage to CSS because he won’t benefit him and wants him to marry the bratty princess instead, so he tries to sabotage the marriage by not sending CSS family the betrothal presents. That bratty princess gets on my nerves, she was clearly told he is not interested.

Lady He lost her family and that’s bad, but let’s not forget that she is partially responsible for it. If she didn’t dump Yao and soo wanted to marry prince Xiao it wouldn’t have happened. I am still puzzled at her shouting at CSS you stole my husband. What ? you didn’t want him on the first place. Yao is a wimp; couldn’t face her when they met and let CSS deal with her? I feel a bit sorry for Yao because he is used as a sacrificial lamb, Lady He can’t marry anybody else because his family is the most suitable for her little brother development and his family isn’t greedy enough to want to get hold of her wealth. The only positive is that Yao family (second Chamber) will gain power through this marriage.

LY being a minister will never happen, the emperor has implemented a limit on the number of officials per household. Tutor Lou his uncle is making sure that those jobs are filled by his family (First Chamber). The Second Chamber that is LY family so far has no power. If they get married and have to live in the Lou household CSS life will be hell as you can see the first madam and her daughter are vipers. When LY brother gave the map to LBY he refused his help. Yes I agree, but she is a soldier and in her life she has been in battles, she has seen people suffering and dying , these matters must look insignificant in her eyes. She never expected her daughter to be like her, I truly think she doesn’t know how to handle her and she does it all wrong.

She took her daughter to visit the Lou family to make her aware of the kind of set up she is letting herself into. She is not stopping the marriage, she is pointing out all the obstacles as a parent should do. I don’t agree with her ways, but we also have to put her mothering in the contest of the era that they are living. She is riddled with guilt about abandoning CSS so she tries to overcompensate and achieves the opposite.

That’s not the reason why; the Lou family is a family of scholars CSS has no formal education or upbringing and so she will be despised and ridiculed, it has already started the first madam is a vicious person, you can see how she wants to dig her claws into her, she thinks CSS family is inferior to hers. Yao dream of becoming a country magistrate is futile the emperor has put a limit on how many official positions one family can hold and his uncle has already stopped the second Chamber from holding any position in favour of his own family, thus the Second Chamber will depend on the First Chamber for survival. Yao is weak and cannot protect her, in that era women depended on their husband achievements and position to have a foothold in the family, even LBY can see that the imperial edict was issued to raise her status, he was trying to help her. CSS will lead a miserable life in that family and her mother can see all that, for all her faults she is very sharp. CSS only accepted the proposal because of her insecurities, she likes Yao because she thinks he can let her live her life without any restraints and he is obedient. Her journey from a teen to a woman has begun.

The end of episode 18 was great; ; when CSS stumbled and touched LBY chest you could feel the electricity sizzling between the two. The intensity of their gaze was tangible, she definitely has feelings for him but she is scared and stubborn and so she is in denial. The Lou family seems to be a nest of vipers; the first madam and her daughter are just despicable all they want to do is humiliate and belittle her; that’s why LBY got the emperor to issue the edict. Yao is too weak and wouldn’t be able to protect her. Those were the reasons why her mother objected to the marriage, she can be ruthless but she is no fool.
