I don’t think that LBY mother’s (aunt) is crazy; she only seems to act crazy when LBY father (uncle) is present. Her craziness is a pretext to hit and get away with it , she hates his guts for good reasons. I love how LBY refuses to call his father ‘s wife mother you can see the disgust in his eyes and even his father seems to be scared of him.

I am so looking forward to part 2, but I hope that my heart can take it, if the drama follows the book our girl will go through so much pain. LBY all consuming revenge will impact her life to the point that in the book she almost dies. CSS was abandoned by her parents and now LBY for whatever reason also abandons her.

I also just realised that the actress depicting the 5th princess was Xiao Tao the faithful maid of Minglan in the drama the story of Minglan. Her character was very nice there.

Who wouldn’t resent their parents for 15 years of neglect? Even if their reasons for doing so was valid it can’t be helped. Don’t forget that the road to hell is paved with good intentions

I guess is good that she regrets but I can’t quite get her love, not once has she embraced her daughter or comforted her even after knowing what her evil aunt put her through, is love destroying someone’s personality and prospects? CSS even questioned the meaning of her existence. I don’t think she loves her, but I get the author intentions, what you wrote makes sense.

After the events of episode 24, there is a clear split between CSS and her mother. Even in ancient China which parent will go to that length to humiliate their child in front of the emperor and thus jeopardise their future? She might have meant well but this time she is gone to far. I think that CSS has realised that she will never live up to her mothers expectations, she will not conform and so her mother is lashing out at her all the time. In a sense although they are blood related they are complete strangers. All those years of neglect have taken their toll, CSS lacks love and care, you can see how she craves love and approval, if people are good to her, she will treat them even better. We see in trailer a snippet where her mother slapped her I think (not 100% sure) is because she said she likes the empress and so she might leave her family to enter the palace as a clean break from that unbearable situation, it is the healthiest way to get away. Just because you are blood related it doesn’t mean you are a family.

LYB declaration was gold; when he said of course and turned all the so called bad qualities of CSS into what he is looking for in a life partner. She is the only woman worthy of walking besides him. It was a dig at CSS mother for belittling her and a message to all those aristocratic ladies that all their tricks to get him will not work. By stating that in his life he will only marry her he was alsosending a signal to the people opposing him that he will not change his mind. LBY knows what he wants and the kind of wife he needs, those noble ladies are petty, catty, narrow minded and only interested in themselves none of them possess CSS extraordinary attitude. It was lovely to see his joy when CSS expressed her thoughts and her view of him was higher than he expected. It was a well done scene. The conversation between CSS and her parents was heart wrenching you can see that all those broken bridges cannot be mended especially the relationship with her mother, the symbolical act of turning their backs to each other said it all. CSS mother’s actions are unforgivable, I thought for a short while that her mothering was getting better, how wrong was I.

I think one of the people up the tower when CSS was there is the 3rd prince, he is after the crown prince position. We shall see how the plot evolves
