JANG UK is the most difficult and complex character. He showed the most development. Mentally amd emotionally. He…
Yes. He seemed to get overshadowed by the actress controversy, but it seems like the story is a lot about Uks growth and eventual destiny. He grows through his love of Naksu. He physically matured thanks to her brutal methods. But as people have pointed out, MD, Naksu and BY are not fully realized, only in relation to how they affect Uk.

Just blame the writers for this issue. Making him involved in this kind of nonesense love triangle (with actually…
We will all need therapy after this. I just hope there will be no hate for AoS after, whatever the outcome.

I do notice that he is quite thinner here probably due to the flat hair versus his curly bouncy hair in pt1. I…
Yup. I agree. I am merely asking the question. I have my own thoughts. Just wanted to hear others. That’s what is interesting.

Becuase he did not had the ice stone to himself as 1st the shaman had it and was in control, then uk has it. He…
I agree he is a coward, but he had soul ejectors when he started the organization. I understand he does not want to soul shift when Shaman was alive. But I guess I answered my question.

In the last epic meltdown, I believe they did indicate the Shaman Choi had the last soul ejector in stock, which Jang Kang epically stopped by absorbing the energy and petrifying.

Jin Mu stated he had no intention or interest to soul shifting especially knowing the Soul Ejectors were cured…
I did not see or remember that scene. But he should not fear the bells, since he’s the only one who knows about them.

I’m thinking of the PR impacts of his organization. IRL, I’d sure require that the evil leader selling the snake oil I’m,ortality through soul ejectors, use on himself as a show of faith, but that’s me, and there are many plot holes.

I merely bring up these points as a thought provoker. It is interesting to hear others opinions.

Uk is actually still young even after 3-year time slip, he is still in early twenties (probably around same age…
That’s why LJW is so perfect for JU. But he usually skews older looking. He should be 23-24 years old, and I’m sure that’s exactly why they made it to fit LJWs actual age. I loved that he got to show a goofy young side in Part 1.

I don’t think of him as dumb. It’s another theme of this drama. Things are not what they seem. For 3 years he’s suppressed his emotions, and focused on loss. Here comes Miss Perky, chirping with her own little schemes, bugging him for help. His first thought was assisted suicide. Here we have the grand tragedy, with the ridiculous situations, that end up being significant. He was mourning, looking for her presence in the jade. Classic misdirection.

He did not expect to feel anything ever again, but she kept chipping away. Pygmalion came to life. His whole demeanor was stony the first 2 episodes, much like MD in Part 1.

However, once he came alive emotionally, he had to face a series of events that are shaping him for the final confrontation. He is showing cunning, in dealing with Jin Mu and Mama Jin now. He’s been herding the turtle CP towards breaking from Jin Mu. He is shaping events, because as he told Park Jin, he has the target and the correct reasons for action. That’s why Park Jin will support him. Jin Mu has brought evil to the Palace and Daeho. Now, Uk can oppose him, because it’s clear that chaos will ensue with that evil afoot. His job is to kill soul shifters, and he found a nest of them.

The guilt CP feels for the consequences of his pettiness, has been fed by JU and Master Lee, to make him be the better man. I think we will see the CP become the good king he could be.

Started the c-drama “The Perfect Husband” and my husband likes it. We will probably binge that for lighter theme, since he was bored with AoS

I swear my mind kept thinking Naksu and Jang Uk will finally get married in EP10, then Naksu will disappear. This…
🎶🎶🎶lalala, I don’t hear you🎶🎶🎶. I liked the premise at the beginning, before the real BY showed up again. Uk marries Cho-Yeong in BYs body. BY soul has successfully fulfilled her mission, and disappears serenely into the sunset, and surprise! comes back as Baby Jin, UKs and Cho-Yeong’s sweet witness. The End.

I doubt it. Haven't you seen how Naksu started pushing Uk away as soon as she learned from JBY that she's gonna…
Haha! Noble idiocy. Hong Sisters have thrown every K-Drama trope into the mix. Amnesia, time skip, misunderstandings, even the eavesdropping trope of Miss Heo! All we need is truck of doom, though they did use cart of doom in Part 1, when Uk kept her from being hit by the market cart.
Oh, another dream induced thought.

Why hasn’t Jin Mu soul shifted earlier? Perfect time would have been 3 years ago to escape, instead of appealing to CP for leniency in return for killing Uk. He would have changed his face and escaped!

CP was petty then, since he did not know the stakes of Uk being a potential rival for the throne. He just hated the thought Uk was looking down on him!

If I were part of the dark organization, I’d want the leader to put a little skin in the game to show fellowship. Jin Mu offers immortality and unlimited power, but he’s this grey-haired snake, Shouldn’t most of that organization be younger? And what about the death rate by shriveling that should be rampant in Daeho to feed the soul shifters? Just wondering.
Is it just me? There are times when Uk looks achingly young with the weight of grief, or the weight of responsibility in Part 2. It just struck me. It could be its because it looks like he lost some weight from Part 1, but the vulnerability shown hurts my heart.

In Part 1, I saw flashes of this, especially when he talked to Jang Kang about why he wanted to prove himself not a bastard. To honor his mother. But true tragedy did not strike until the end of Episode 20, and has forged his resolve and character in Part 2.

I think he will be able to wield his power wisely, and this is why Park Jin will support him to death, is because though he could have become twisted like Jin Mu as a bastard and weak outcast, he was so incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by a circle of loving friends and adoptive parents, who made sure he knew he was loved, no matter what, and protected. I think it was episode 1, when they faced Sapsuli (sp?) he told MD, “No one here will let me come to harm” That’s confidence in the people who love you.

I did not like his treatment of BY/Naksu until I realized it is another reversal of Part 1. MD was verbally abusive a LOT, calling him worthless so many times, and scheming to kill him to get her power, but he kept coming back. BY is like that in part 2. Despite his mean words, she shows him that sunshine smile and says she will stick to him and protect him. Even the abandonment echoes Part 1. In their oath, she says they will go their own ways, because she will have no reason to go easy on him. He felt she would abandon him, yet he never agreed to the dissolution part of the oath. I think that’s why Oark Jin’s and Kim Heons words came back to haunt him, because he was made to realize that he made BY/Naksu feel abandoned, by not explaining his actions.

These are the ramblings from my dreams. I’ve been up since 4am, May be incoherent, but had to throw these thoughts out before the finale.

Another thought. Though there is a lot of verbal and physical abuse (I’m looking at you, Mama Jin) between family members and loved ones (I’m looking at you, MD and Uk) between the classes, there seems to be a remarkable respect. MD was treated respectfully, for a peasant blind girl sold to a brothel, bought by a nobleman. Uk got beaten up a lot,, but I don’t think I saw any beatings of minions, like they do in the chaebol dramas.

OK, back to my second cuppa joe!
