So in conclusion we can say that whoever wants to do weight-loss, health conscious trope should borrow the brain of whoever wrote Oh My Venus?

What a beautiful way to save me from digging into yet another flaming disappointment of 2025. I had actual hopes for this one… mostly because Kang Ha Neul was involved (yes, I showed up for the face—nojudgement 😂).

RIP to yet another dream I had for food porn greatness. And by “food porn lovers,” I mean me. Just me. I carried that dream alone.

At this point, should we just accept that no one’s ever going to replicate Jo Jung Suk’s Oh My Ghost magic? That frantic, on-the-clock kitchen energy that made you want to throw your diet and dignity out the window just to eat what he was cooking? Or Zhao Lusi’s Dating in the Kitchen—pure visual serotonin. Do I even dare bring up Gap Han Yu's Dine With Love, which actually respected the concept of running a food business instead of just romanticizing a plate? Yes that's me flexing with name drop 😂

This is an open letter—nay, a plea—to the directors of 2025 dramaland: we don’t want mindless popcorn fluff. We want art. We want soul. We want at least one drama that won’t make us regret sacrificing our precious sleep and sanity.

We’re giving you hours of our lives. The least you can do is serve us something that doesn’t feel like a reheat.

No.. actually mentioning those dramas doesn't mean I don't like them..it means Youth drama directors have failed to replicate these master pieces..L&P was probably my first Youth drama and I loved it..so is Forever Love,Wang Anyu is one of my favourite C-drama actors.
I haven't watched WIFTY and Lovely Runner just because I tend to steer far away from over popular dramas..
I hope you enjoy Close to You as I did..am a sucker for something different.

Wow..Thank you..I finished it yesterday and didn't want to marinate it,I wanted to write a review based on fresh emotions.
Yes the ending is the only time you question the writer which is a relief but not in away that will make you skip the whole drama.
It's a type of ending whereby the viewers and the writer have had their closure but the director thinks it's a good idea to "man-explain" himself ,if you know what I mean..You go like "was this scene necessary? but gladly it's just technically in the last 4 minutes before credits roll-out..

I just finished the Director's drama "Close To You" and me staying away from highschool dramas ended with this one..it was actually good..so I guess he knows his stuff..I Wil check this one out

Great take on a show that had all the meat and juices.Stepping into the world of J-drama is like walking on a minefield..you don't know when common sense will be blown up but this show despite it's usual Japanese "titling" kept getting saner and saner.I just kept thinking "His character can't develop from a scumbag to a good guy,he is supposed to stay in the original arc" how would the writer turn the table that is already set? But he did and in a uncanny way.
My only negative take is that I feel like the writer played too simple and too safe..If he had turned the ML into the FL's personal trainer,that premeditated punch could have found an entry point and it would have been a vision to behold..That's just me thinking like an unpaid writer 😂

I hate women like Xio Mo,they sound narcissistic and entitled without realising that they are hurting others.
I hate people like Chu Qu who have a door mat character.You will do yourself nonfavot if you decide to "suffer" just because you are in the friendzone..not only in the friendzone but you see your love interest going through life majestical while it feels like your job is to wait for them.
And I hate characters like Zhang Tian Hao..

wow thus was his first drama..he actually did well but I can see he is a stage actor so definitely talented
