I wondered why the grandma didn't help the grandson then. Even in real life, things like this happen; when they do, one does not know what the other party is going through. So, if the grandma has a lot of things going on in her own life and her son screwed up, she cannot just put her own issues aside and address the mess her son created. Everyone is responsible for their actions. It is a man's responsibility to care for his family, not his parents'. I don't think we can blame Grandma so much for not taking care of her grandson when his father ran away.

Remember, according to the drama, Grandma married Huan's grandpa when they were much older. They already have grown kids and might not necessarily be involved in the lives of each other's kids. But, the little kids in the family have their minds and love for grandparents. Also, when Huan was very sick as a kid, we were told in the drama that Grandma took care of everything. Grandma's relationship with Huan started when she was very young.
Also, Grandma talked about being independent and all with Huan to not let her mom influence her. If not, Huan would have succumbed to the domination of her mom. Yao, on the other hand, lived his life like a stray bird without a nest. Even though his parents are still alive, mentally and physically, he is homeless. That's why Grandma said she has brought him into the Mai family. If you can recollect, in the first episode or so, Yao called Ms. Zhang, mom. After that, I expected more interactions from them, and it has always been business between them. That's why Yao said Grandma was the only family she had in the whole world. Yao doesn't understand the underlying meaning between the two gifts she gave them, which was to matchmake them. She doesn't want Yao to be gallivanting around the world anymore. She gave him a home, a family, and work.

I quite agree. Even a blind person can perceive the handwriting on the wall in this situation. Regardless of how wealthy they were, they were disrespectful to her family at dinner. That was enough ground to tell her daughter not to have anything to do with the boy again. Even if he was very much in love with her, he was present when his family insulted her family. So, what sort of life awaits her as his wife?

I think mothers of this mom's generation (around the world) feel their children owe them something for giving birth to them. Because their attitude, as we saw in this drama, is that since I gave birth to you, I've authority over your life to decide your faith. In my opinion, it is a generational problem for that generation. Unfortunately, that behavior distances their children from them because everyone has their own lives to live. Just like the grandma said, parents and siblings are passersby. Everyone has to live with whatever decisions they make, whether right or wrong.
Unfortunately, the family she's pushing her daughter into isn't good. Even before he was discovered as a rich kid, he had no sense of responsibility as a man. If his girlfriend goes around with a power bank, wipes, and a stain remover for an adult, she's more of a nanny than a girlfriend for him.

What is wrong with Zhi's dad? Even if it's a rumor that people from the Hua family are visiting relatives and he is a Hua, won't he want to see if it's true or not? Even Grandpa believes Zhi is the only one in that family who has what it takes to do such a thing, but her own father has no faith in her. I think he knew because when they met some episodes ago and discussed the former chief of the guards that the emperor killed. When the two guys were talking, I think the prince mentioned that the emperor had set up the chief to get rid of him and test the loyalty of YanXi towards the emperor. So, the prince noted that YanXi was given the position, but YanXi didn't deny or confirm it. But, in episode 23, YanXi kept saying he was idle. So, the prince probably didn't know he was the new chief.

It now airs Monday through Tuesday but it's two episodes per day. So, it's okay.

In episode 24, I witnessed a one-of-a-kind woman of substance that can rival ten men. It was remarkable.

It is refreshing to see both leads in a different sort of drama. I loved Jinjin's badass look in her teenage years.

This is a beautiful funny story that you can watch just for the fun of it.

Sometimes, reading the comment and deciding based on that can be misleading, especially if the commenters are haters. So, it's good to watch the first episode constantly, and then you decide if it is to your liking or not.
I truly enjoyed the drama. It is kind of intriguing for me, the crown prince vs. the queen dowager. It seems everyone that anyone in the QD's palace who finds out she's having an affair with someone is killed to silence them. I'm curious: didn't the person who gave the crown prince a tip know that he would get in trouble if he discovered the QD's secret? Also, why did the DQ put a figure as the king when no one received orders from him? Damn, that woman is powerful!
Also, if she's so powerful, she can have her man visit her all the time in her palace in the guise of medical treatment instead of sneaking around and killing people who found out. Now, the CP has to die. I think this drama would be fun to watch.

Also, I think the royal physician jinxed the CP because he kidnapped the wrong person and cast the early widowhood on his supposed son-in-law. At the end of the day, death is still on the CP's doorstep since he's fated to be with the physician's daughter.
