Ok colleague incident ticked. Yes regarding sister, its when his dad has a stroke that he just leaves suddenly that sister and mom come to his apartment to meet him only to find RY . Mom goes back to Su City but Sister spends time with her and realizing that she is still confused about how her storyline got leaked and how much she cares about XHS that she decides to tell her. But she couldn't do it in front of her so she sends his phone via post and messages her asking her to read the drafts and that's how back story of the plagiarism case is revealed to her. Sister also sends a text to XHS who was about to return to China anyway after his dad's condition stabilised and when he returns they confess ❤️ Its written beautifully in the novel. I hope they kept the class monitors case as well as that would lead to some clues to his fathers case. Then with everything resolved we can expect a very happy ending with a wedding. I believe Zhang Yuan, the popular wedding singer is actually doing a song in the wedding scene . All these in 13 episodes 😅 Also relationship with mom in the novel is not shown like it is here. He actually visits his mom, sis and grandmom with RY and they even spend a night at his home. Distant but not estranged.

By this time in the novel he had already done an ambiguous confession Few incidents which bring them closer in the novel is missing- like she moving apartment, then an incident involving his female colleague from US , his dad having a stroke and the class monitor getting accused in a murder case. Shenao town was not in the novel. Not sure how they are going to show how she comes to know that the poets story was his drafts. It was pretty straightforward with his sister coming out open in the novel . They even spend time together when XHS goes to US following his dad's stroke. Not sure if they give such importance to the sister character here or will ML reveal it himself we have to wait and see.

During the proceedings and after the judgement, the victims family and the entire town targeted their family for supporting a "murderer" escape his punishment and outcast them. Unfortunately the real murderer was never found so they kept targeting the family for 'helping' a murderer. At that time his parents would frequently argue which led to irreconcilable differences. His mom never wanted his dad to take on the case in the first place. Even 18yr old XHS felt that his dad was a disreputable person who ‘takes money to avert misfortune for people.’
And that is the reason XHS doesn't like to take criminal cases. It broke his family down and forced him to leave to US (as we know his very young sister then didn't want to go to US) in a way also stopping him not confess to Ruan Yu. In reality his dad is a very upright man and doesn't mind taking such cases to uphold justice for the innocent. In the later part of the novel they will come across another similar case, the clues of which will lead to the murderer of the old case and that's how he successfully clears his father's name. This happens around the same time when Ruan Yu gives outline of her story to Mingyang to publish. So "Poet" story gets published first and when Ruan Yu's gets published there is a public outcry obviously that Ruan Yu plagiarised due to similar storyline.
At this point, Cen Si Si somehow finds out the "poet" is from the same school as them all and introduces herself to Xu Huashi as her senior. She sweettalks her into putting a case against Ruan Yu (at this point I think she kind of connected the dots based on the similarities in the stories and her knowing RY/XHS) from school days. So when Ruan Yu traces her and asks to meet she gets scared and says she bought the outline from someone else and was unaware and agrees to withdraw the case and publicly apologise.
Then on a particular morning, sister sees that a writer from Jinjiang posted a long comment on Weibo. Though this person didn’t name Ruan Yu specifically, it was quite clear to the readers that this person was talking about Ruan Yu. The person said that Ruan Yu not only plagiarized the new writer but also bullied her, forcing her to give up her pen name. The poster claimed that Ruan Yu’s actions were a shame to all the creative writers.
Then she realised that someone was deliberately slandering Ruan Yu trying to mislead the public opinion. Someone had intentionally stirred the whole thing up to begin with.
