It does not have the same marketing and some shows had, Love and Redemption, for example. Although you don’t feel it is blowing up because there’s no marketing, it is very popular in China, it is more popular than ALP, that received lots of criticism in China and had few views on YouTube during first release.

I don’t know, I hope today’s episode was a foreshadow not a bittersweet moment we will never see happening in the story.

People generally complain about the beginning of Xianxias but it is usually my favorite arc because it is happy and sweet and afterwards there is only suffering. When I finish a Xianxia I always comeback to rewatch these first episodes and heal my hurt :) I like this drama a lot for now, Yang Zi is the best actress for Xianxias for me, she can make this cute leads very funny and also convey their suffering, I never feel bored watching her funny expressions. The scene she open her eyes to make fake tears when talking to the emperor had me rolling, she is just too funny!

I agree with you, they are deities going through a trial in the mortal realm. They don't look like "diying" in the end because they return to their deity form and congratulate they defeated the demon and passed their trials. The last scene is they talking in their deity forms deciding to go to the trial together. It is sweet, it actually reminds me of Ashes of Love, when Jin Mi and Phoenix die in the mortal realm and awaken immediately from their trial. But in Fu Yao it could be more clear if they actually awake in another form not just keep talking making people think they didn't die.

ABOUT THE ENDING

What I understood is that they are both immortals going through trials to defeat demon queen. She was the one going to the trial but he said he would go with her. The last dialogue before the "celestial realm scene" is when both are already dead and return to their immortal forms and celebrate they passed the trial and defeated the demon. Finally the last scene in the celestial realm is actually they talking BEFORE going to five kingdoms realm to pass their trials.

It has humor?

I understand very well the intention of the drama to show that, but the thing is, I don’t want to see that in a historical drama, if it was a modern drama ok, but historical? Do you think Deok Im would really think like that? And exactly what “freedom” she would have? She was a palace maid, the ultimate goal of palace maids was to be noted by the King. Even if she wasn’t with him, she couldn’t be with any other man, she would have lived a celibate, she would serve and obey other people, she couldn’t go out of the palace any time she wanted, I don’t think this show really puts the life of a palace maid in a real light, unless she didn’t loved him, if she didn’t loved him, to be with him would be a prison like they showed. If she wanted freedom, why be a court maid? Why didn’t she go with her brother when he asked, this show does not make sense!

I agree with some comments below. I like the beginning of this show a lot, but when it started to became famous, it actually start to drag, and drag, and drag. I have lost the count on scenes of Yi San declaring his love and Deok Im saying she does not feel anything. It was not once, twice, three, four times, it was every episode until the last two episodes, and even until the last she never said she loved him, like, what? Is this really a romance? Deok Im character changed a lot from the beginning to the final part, it was the first romance drama that got me really questioning if the main lady loved the main lead. They could have showed her free spirit in other way, but watching one sided romance until the last episode was really tiring and got me upset. In my opinion, this is bad writing.
