This is what happens when you have proper actors, proper scriptwriters and proper production. Most Thai BL novels…
Exactamente!

Reading through the comments...
Did the cast woke up from the robotic-like script? And is Khim already obliterated to nothingness? If they had, and Khim is gone, I will watch probably pick this up again.

First half of Ep1 has a lot of cringe for me.
1. Dialogues are done in 'Filipino' albeit archaic
2. The audio was terrible in certain scenes
3. Are they stage acting? Reciting a poem? (pun intended)

BUT, still will support. And hoping to see improvements in their succeeding episodes.

Not really because I've never seen an effeminate character in a Thai BL as a lead.
Will not comment on the effeminate comment. Because a lot of TH BL sure is. And it is noticeable. And who says that in BL the characteristics that you had written is the standard? That is just pure stereotype.

For the 'wifey' comment I believe I did not complain on the original post I made. I just pointed out that it uses the wifey endearment - which really brought goosebumps. And btw, people have their rights to air their comments/complaints, it will help makes the show better.

"seemed to be most Thai-like" was my observation not 'same as Thai."

And yes (Jim and Ben comfortable with using that endearment) that it brought discomfort to a lot of people because it is so over used in TH BL and most often than not signifies dominance of the one who is masculine (if that was even measurable) and passivity of the partner (ugh!). I prefer the second endearment Jim used which was 'asawa' because it is gender neutral and lacks the attached animosity with 'wifey' with certain(meaning a lot) people who got tired of that 'putting' in place stereotype. BUT still, reaction to this is based on the person watching the series.

Idk what the "separate things" you are talking about. We watch these series and screen each one base on the lenses of our experiences. And much like a person, we form our conclusion on how these shows settle and collide with ours.

Oh and BTW, pointing those observation does not mean I don't like the show. It's just for me, for a lot of PH BL out there, this is the most TH-like.

I skip here and there, but the childhood scenes here were important
Idk, for me it can be explored in healthy dose of flashbacks. BUT yeah, it was just the one that bugs me. Still, ep 1 is great.

Uh-oh, early as ep1 of Thai BL, you can really pin-point who's the T or the B

It's still reality, sadly. That's what's making the Pinoy stories work too. For the most part, the Thais seem…
I agree with what you've said and yes GB will always be that 'forever commentary' when talking about the pandemic, however, re-using the vid-call technique in PND is really getting dated because too many PH BL are also using that technique. It is so good in GB because they were the ones who did it creatively and they owned it.

GSP is turning to be good because of the proximity we see between each characters. Though there is nothing new to the storyline/plot (as it was common in hetero films), seeing them interact within the same space adds up to their chemistry and the visual experience the audience are feeling. B-Lockdown's ep1 is also great because we saw the characters interact physically. Same with Ben X Jim. And GB's finale was god-tier because we got to see the 3 mains physically in contact with each other.

Don't get me wrong, I love PND, but I hope they incorporate into it what made GB great and what making GSP so good.

But yeah, it might just be me. I mean, we all have our own experience when watching these series and we screen how we view the world through those.

(it's so long... im tired -_-...)

EP1 was great. Finally, TH BL is getting back on the groove and letting go of the nonsense and no substance fluff. I love that this one is anchored in an emotional story/plot.

The only negative thing that I had notice was that I found myself playing the childhood scenes in 2x. For me that was a weak spot to build a first episode. But other than that, I can't wait to see the next one.

And they didn't include a preview for the next episode... seems like they are learning from the other God-tier BLs out there.

I might get shot with my comment for PND EP1, so I will begin with the awesome things I had observed. 1.) Acting was so good, 2.) Production value was heaven, 3.) Characters are relatable (except for Fonzy, I don't get him for now).

Now for the one negative thing for EP1. My excitement plateaued when I realize PND will be shown in a series of vid-call much like GB. I mean, can't they at least start moving away from that and show us movements from A to B etc., that technique is getting dated because of the slew of PH BL coming out.

I don't think he's a dick.I think he's hurt.• He's in love with someone who doesn't love him back the way he…
I think it was his defense mechanism kicking in. Hurt first before getting hurt. It made me want to know more of Ben's past, what happened to him that made him that guarded.

As I've said in my earlier post for observations in EP1, this PH BL seem to be the most Thai-like. The use of fair-skinned effeminate character and the use of wifey as endearment (which brought goosebumps to me). I just hope they will not follow some of the toxic and ridiculous plot devices presented in some of TH BLs.
