It was a badly written episode indeed. People just became obsessed with this series and don't take fair criticism…
Idk about the budgets, but this one is backed by a major sponsor. As for the quarantine, it probably had been affected the ending but to continually build the show with great and high stakes and end it with such mediocrity was kind of sad and kind of lazy on the part of the writer. However, it was not the first time they did a gimmick and needed to explain themselves.
A masterpiece up until the last episode. I am a bit disappointed with the ending. It was mediocre. Transitions were not explained very well (not verbally and visually) and led to confusion with the timeline. Cinematography again is on point. Acting is great. But there were hiccups on the audio/dubbing. Still, it is in league with the best BLs.
So, who's the one Mayora?! Ep1, EP2 and most part of EP3 is building Alex's character and I think most viewers are team Alex. However, that one act in the latter part of EP3 showed how Pearl is still in love with Karleen and EP3 also fleshed out Karleen's background to make her (a little bit) likeable.
As for the cameo, I felt it genuine enough. I mean it was not 'out of the blue' cameo since in previous episodes, it was shown that Pearl is reaching out to her friends but they are too busy and ended up talking with Fonzy. There was also a scene where CaiReel replied on one of Mayora's post. I think as her friend, it was not surprising that they will visit her unannounced. Also, I think the cameo also added to the narrative, as they were the tangible embodiment of the viewer's stand on Pearl's love choices.
As for the last part of EP3, is it a foreshadowing to Pearl's choice?
Here again just to read through the comment section. Keeping my fingers crossed that the viewing experience and narrative had changed since EP4. But no, still flat as ever (according to comments).
Jim is picking stones to bump on his head. "Cheating trope" and a GF who's 'clueless" were presented in EP 5... wow! Will they complete my imaginary TH BL checklist?
Anyway, I like the route they had taken with Jim's confession. They presented it not in the usual BL-ish, rosy, rainbow-like way. The dark theme seems to echo Jim's feelings and the consequence of his possessiveness. I just hope it is not a foreshadowing of what is to come between him and Ben due to his choices.
But how about Olan and Yana?
EDIT: and BTW, was the shirt removal a nod to GB's Wes Vs Gav shirtless contest?
I think a I saw a pinoy guy here complaining about the over use of english in this series. At 1st it didn't bother…
Wow, a very long, healthy , heated and educated discussion. :) And I agree with you, the delivery of the preachy (might be deliberate or not) lines do break the surface of a good viewing experience. It's not often and jarring however it feels to be coming from someone else and not the character.
Ahem, "your cheeks are as soft as a girl's" was used as at that time he was straight, ik u probably won't see…
Wow! Jongens :) brings back memories. One of my favorite along with God's Own Country.
I agree with the "wife/wifey" thing. I cringed every time I read the defense that it was a cultural thing. As if we have no right to call out toxic clichés.
Done watching EP1. It was an OK start for me. There were some hiccups in this episode which I hoper will be remedied in the upcoming episodes. In all honesty, I had watched this one in 1.5 playback speed due to the creeping boringness after part 1 of 4. Or maybe its because I got used to shorter but tight story/plot lines from recent BLs that's why I felt that boringness. Anyway, I get that they shot this episode during the pandemic so maybe that is why. Will wait until episode 3 to tell.
