The only good thing about this dreadful movie was Yamaken in a suit and glasses. Where did all the random singing/dancing come from? Urgh i hate musicals Where did the story go? They butched the characters and their love story. I would say it's a lame romcom since the only romantic scenes are with the oher leads (that weren't even in the original story) I didn't mind them giving it a spin but they turned them into cheaty weirdos that don't turn down other people if asked and don't even like each-other and stayed until the end together out of convenience. Which obviously was not the point of the story.
The ending was great. The frail tragic Nana we see at the beginning is an illusion. The Nana we see at the ending is her real raw self. She forced him just like he forced her. The wolf and sheep dynamic we see at the beginning was reversed. He may dominate her physically but she's actually mentally the dominant one in the relationship. Actually it makes sense that they ended up together. Both were deceitful murderers. Both were shackled. Both were living a lie. Both share a similar past. Both were predators and victims of circumstance. Both were morally corrupted individuals with bruised souls. Both yearned to be loved and accepted no matter how ugly they became, which they ultimately found in each-other.
The four rose vases hint that she killed both her parents. Did Sou love her? Was it Sou from the beginning? The romanticist mystery writer (that adores O Mio Babbino Caro) was fooled once again? There were two roses at the beginning of the story. I thought they represented her and her lover. In reality, they represented how many people she killed.
Was Sou her ideal man? It didn't matter which of the two he was, since she knew who he was and what he did to her, she related to his past and abusive parents, and related to his brokeness. They were alike, so they understood each-other, that's why she freed him from his shackles. She knows he needed that man dead in order to live a happy life. Since he killed his twin brother to be free. She killed her both her parents for the same reason.
"if i can keep being happy like this.. It doesn't matter which one you are." Was it real love? Was it a deception? Is it an unconditional unspeakable bond? As long as they accepted each-other's ugliness and stayed by each-other's side forever. It did not matter to her anymore. She chose to be happy no matter what. It was the best and most romantic ending i'd say.

Then with the four roses at the end, i realized they represented her body count. I love how their roles were reversed at the end. She became the wolf and he became the sheep. They deserve each-other.

So i understand why it didn't matter ultimately who he was since what he felt for her was real and since she accepted both his scary and his vulnerable sides and vice versa. She wanted to belong to someone, who'd stay by her side no matter what. I'd say she succeeded in having her happy ending xD
