I am only on the first episode, but I love the music. I am not one to watch historical dramas, but this one I am because the premise sounds new (to me, a noob to this genre). Anyway, they use the right intrumental at the right moment. Music can express a lot in a movie/drama so I'm glad they are getting this part right. Also, the show the clowns put on was actually funny.
This really sucks. I really wanted to see him and Sunny have a happy ending together. As much as I loved this…
You're right! And when finally his intentions were revealed and he could be in action without any barriers of "maintaining trust" with the Emperor, his schedule conflicts happen. I am still not over this news. I'm hoping the ending is satisfying without him, although I know that won't happen as he was a big part of this mess. I was ready to enjoy people's support for him and how the those in the imperial household and outside acknowledge him. Ugh.
What?Am I missing something? Why won't he be in the final episodes?
I'll definitely continue watching this. I want to see the ending and Sunny in a better place. I'm just disappointed that Woo Bin won't find the closure he deserved.
I'm pissed. So Choi Jin Hyuk won't be in the final episodes? Way to go. One of the few dramas that was going so well, only for this to be the conclusion. I am regretting investing my time to this.
Basically, the Grand Empress started the breakdown of the Imperial Family. I think there could have been other solutions, but with the two members of the royal family ready to murder her, it would have made sense at that time for her to deal with the guilt and expose the Imperial Family by framing the Emperor and Dowager.
Seo Kang Hee is rotten to the core. Her greed is unbelievable - what an abusive woman. And I am glad the feelings Emperor had for Sunny have not completely evaporated because that would have made him a bigger fool - his feelings are driving him to not trust his mother and the rest of the Imperial members. I call this character development without compromising his true nature.
I can't wait to see O Sunny use the letter of the grand empress and take over the assets to oversee what the affairs of the island. The poppies are killing me. Are they drugs? Or could the smell mean something else? Dead bodies under the soil? Does she sell organs? Lol, I am getting ahead of myself.
It really bothers me when we have a "forced kiss" or "forced contact" scene and they add a stupid love/soft song.…
Not Over isn't a love song, actually. And it has been used in situations where one of the protagonists is tormented and in many cliffhangers which were not romantic in the slightest.
I'm also loving how Na Wang Shik has established a firm footing. The guards respect him, people consider him a hero, and Empress Eun probably came to Korea because of him. He's invincible. The Emperor may kill him, but people won't let that one slide, especially if Na Wang Shik reveals himself to the public. This drama only gets better each episode. I'm glad most of the dots are connecting! From grabbing hold of the slush fund to helping financially struggling people - who would have thought?
I honestly tend to skip more than repeat when I watch a drama, but with the Last Empress, especially in today's 23rd episode, I found myself replaying certain scenes.
Wang Shik and Lee Hyuk's dialogue enraptured me in the start. I kept repeating the scene to not miss a glance they exchanged, or the guest actors that were ready to have the Emperor's blood on their hands. I loved how Na Wang Shik tortured Hyuk too. I'm not a believer of revenge, but Hyuk's perspective of the ordinary person is nauseating. "You're going to kill me because of a woman?" I wanted to fight him, lol.
Also, Lee Hyuk couldn't get more disgusting. He's forcing himself on Sunny now? Not surprising, because he tried to do that a few episodes ago but Na Wang Shik confessed his feelings to protect her. Never liked this man or his warped sense of entitlement.
Honestly, the actors blow me away every time. Choi Jin Hyuk was convincing in his rage, Shin Sung Rok in his madness, and Na Ra in her ferocity. Special mention to the child actress. What a talented, hard working girl
Man I started this drama knowing nothing about it and ended up finishing 44 episodes in almost 2 days. It's so…
Wow, you are legendary to have watched most of it in two days! I am glad you enjoyed it. :p Hang in there for the last few episodes. Let's pray the ending isn't frustrating too.
She has blown me away in the Last Empress - one of her best performances yet! She has always conveyed emotions well, and I would say she is great and refreshing outside of romcoms. I love how she is portraying a a character that has transitioned from being naive and unquestioning to a fierce, stern, angry and clever one in The Last Empress.

more sense now.
