That's my regret from the ending. After a serious accident there's no way Numata would look that good with absolutely no scars. To be honest when we saw her just before the surgery I thought the scar looked quite cool👍🏻 (not like a real one)

I suspect someone could say it's "advertising" such procedures. Yet I won't agree with that either. I don't feel encouraged, after watching this, to get a plastic surgery, in the least😁 The close-ups were even scary. We got possible complications too. We've seen characters broke under the pressure of "looking pretty" - I believe it called out an annoyance in the viewers as it's ridiculous a talented person can't be successful bc their look "is not enough". As it happens irl. Manipulating children into thinking they want one (or more) too. Etc. etc.

Finally we came to the roots of plastic surgeries - to help ppl deformed after accidents. (small spoiler here)
However I feel suspiciously too many characters - not the clinic patients - wanted to have the procedure. Still, I heard in Japan it's quite common, so maybe it's realistic? Would be nice tho to add some characters being all for natural look.

Sorry, not sorry. The best in this drama is Ji Chang Uk and Son Ye Jin's acting. Also their scenes together. Great acting, tention. There's nothing to complain about, just admire.
I enjoyed most of the music too.

But other than that, it was bad. Explicit scenes thrown without a reason to "spice the show up" and makes it live up to its name (scandalus). Note: I'm not saying ALL of them were unnecessary.

My biggest disappointment was the widow. She behaved like an emotional cripple, totally uninteresting person, meek, boring to the core. There's not a single thing in her that could make Cho Won fall in love with her. As it's supposed to happened.

The original story is much more expanded and complex. This version is very reduced. And still some arcs felt rushed.

Weren't his parents kinda killed for being on the throne? And made a mistake that wiped 2 innocent families? Or so, forgive me as I hadn't get the politics there XD But if that would be correct, Xiao Wu Yi could've no reason to "fight for the throne" (for who? also he saw there's evil empress dowager who poisoned her own son - so I can't blame him for not wanting to go there) and might feel even guilty and regards himself unfitted to the role of the emperor (or the prince). However I agree the degree of his self-sacrifition was unseen.

I loved it for the music mostly. For the first half a had problem with Yi Jun Yeong. Not because of his acting, but because of the fact that he's very adult. His role was a teenager, his behaviour matched that, yet his posture was ruining it. However, in the second half he was so convincing, his acting of hiding great grief and betrayal superb. So I understood why he got the role.

About the relation between main leads. Since it's a Korean show let's use Korean terminology. It was 썸 sseom (from "something"; it means the two ppl are drawn to each other but aren't dating). Friendship, doesn't look like this. Actually what we got was sooo unrealistic... Something strong and serious, but not friendship nor romance, too melodramatic for just rivalry. Could happen only in a tv series that doesn't want to be openly gay🤷🏻‍♀️

I've waited so eagerly for " our minds are alike, so you have to play because only you can play the music I hear in my heart".

They so much overdid it with bloody fingers, it looked ridiculous. Not to mention it'd make piano keys slippery. There're also too much drama w the grandfather and his character shift from A to Z seemed improbable.

Beautiful OST, that's for sure. Rewatch value? Maaaybe. 7.5.

And abt what you've written... I think it's going a bit too far. Tho I can understand the expectations while seeing a romance genre might be slightly different. There are great dramas - like The Double, I love it, watched 2 times already and will come back to it definitely - without kissing scenes. Funny that Ai Mi played a role there too.
I woudn't say there're no romantic scenes too - or did you stress "actively" engaging? In that case she wasn't very active indeed😂

He has two consorts and the kid is not his. One is a woman of his soldier who died. Basically Xiao Wu Yi had rescued them from death by making them his consorts and it was clear from the beginning there won't be any intimacy in their relations.

My biggest disappointment is the political part of the plot. I prefer when it's solid, complex and believable. The characters shouldn't change by 180 degrees overnight. And the plot shouldn't lead from one strong emotion-evoking moment to another WHEN reasoning is so weak. Just for the sake of emotional roller-coaster.
Sadly rather weak fighting scenes too, however I get it's not the type of drama when fighting is of much importance.

At times it felt to me as if I'm watching one of those sensless 3 min/ep micro-drama💀

Now the good points:
Very solid acting from the main leads and most of the crew. Great costumes. Ear-catching music, that you want to come back to it.

Somewhere between 6,5 and 7.

P.S. I think Hou Ming Hao's wig didn't fit him😅😂 Maybe it's the perm?
