Not very related, but doesn't your religion punish homosexuality with death? Or it's just in some countries where…
Shortly: of course! As being trans/asexual isn't really mentioned in the holy books, although there might've been some references that "wearing clothes of the opposite sex is wrong", but def not as "a sin", homosexuality is widely condemned in those religions too. If a homosexual person would be saying they're very christian, believes in everything it's written in the bible, then yes I would ask and I would wonder how this person reconcile those two things. ----> ofc I'm not running and asking such questions any person met in real life XD IMO it's another schisophrenic approach a believer has to make to stay considering themselves as believers. Like when a scientist says, thinks and feels he's a believer, but what he learns and understands tend to contradict what's inside of the holy books. And he acknowledges that. What's interesting how and why he still believes :) I heard that clash can bring many internal suffering to gay ppl. Hearing from priests and in churches that they are "sinners", "won't get salvation" - if they keep committing such ugly, dirty etc. things. But at least there's no death punishment for them in Europe (although in some of the European countries homosexual acts were punished by the law even several decades ago. We grew up from it and I'm very glad we did. Still, there's much to do in the area up to these days.)
Why I wrote too you was bc you've said you're a believer, demanded ppl across the world to abide to your traditions and religious commandment, but you break them by yourself ---> it's clearly a clash.
Also the most important thing: just using some religious terms, even if it's shallow - is.not.offensive.nor.disrespecting. An intelligent satire ab any religious laws or paraboles - is.not.offensive. However mocking and dissing ppl also exist, I condemn them, it's stupid and brings nothing. Same as making shitstorm every single connotation is disrespecting, offensive etc. Actually there's a similar case regarding catholic church. E.g. when any dissmisal towards priests behaviour or saying there's no need for a whole nation to pay for certain religious lessons at school, as well as church to no pay any taxes while receiving even 3 pensions is not fair towards a country - they scream "it's attack on the Church!!!" That's ridiculous. Treating any religion too serioulsy has never brought any good to noone.
I forgot how insane the chemistry between Suzy and Woobin is !!! seeing them looking at each other again feels…
As I'm one of those who don't see "chemistry" in general, it's just good or bad acting skills, after reading so many comments regarding that matter, I'll watch and check if I finally see that mythical chemistry🤓
How many blood-bags were harmed in the making of this film? Luo Yun Xi should win an award for how many times…
I want to give more likes to this comment, but I can only like it once😂 Long time ago I'd left a comment here, it's a really great drama, if you don't mind bloody teeth (in one moment and super clean the next one) and there're so many plots, there could've been 3 separate dramas. Each one interesting! Despite being slightly tired after the show I highly recommend it!
What's wrong with Jin?🤔 Even more I have no idea what's this .... storm ab Iblis🫣
You've lost nothing - Lucifer is a booooooring show, I've dropped it. Although some audience did like it but not many. So we're agreeing with each other on one point: you can't understand how ppl in the West make such movies/tv shows (btw heard ab Monty Python? one of their movie is an intelligent satire and parody on a parable and people aas far as I remember. A good one😂) and I can't comprehend why be so serious about it.
Knowledge is not faith and vice versa. Believers get their prize for believing. And knowledge is smth that can be seen, measured and proved.
I see it like this: if your faith is strong and it says you shouldn't do it - you don't and it's totally fine. If someone does it somewhere bc they want to convey smth - it can't harm you and he can succeed in conveying or not. If one deliberately does it just to offend, the proper answer is: your acting is only stupid, my faith and my God are stronger, you can do nothing to me nor to Him. Otherwise what's ahead of us? New religious war? Bc of "offended feelings"? Shouting on every corner "it's disrespectful!" doesn't bring understanding, and really in the majority of cases it's untrue. And when it is you're only fulfilling the offender's wish. I think it's better to be smarter than such ppl only wanting to make mischief. Shouting so rather discourages from any contact with such aggressive society. If that's what you want...
they literally named the main guy iblis.. why would i as a muslim want to see the main character have the same…
Oh, so he was a jinn afterall. Therefore it makes sense now😅 Thanks a lot for the explanation🙏🏻 You see, bc of this this whole "controversy" other ppl can learn a thing or two ab Islam, how it's written there. Although like I said, I get the clash with funny fluffy rom-com and high level religious names. I guess we should prepare ourselves for Zeus and Odin next😂
I've just started and watching it in 2025 gives off an old-school drama vibe😂 Male lead is soooooo toxic💀 We have to get through a ridiculous, unethical psychological experiment... On the other hand Han Ye Seul always runs around wearing killing stilettos - it hurts me to even see this. And she's sooo skinny😳 For now - ep 4 - it answers my mood for smth light and funny. Her speaking French from a travel guide conning everyone it's Marie Antoinette's ghost🤣
Finished: and the time when we saw the actors pores and they all didn't have irritatingly super white teeth :E At around the 8th ep I had thought about dropping but finished afterall. Good for making smth while watching.
What's wrong with Jin?🤔 Even more I have no idea what's this .... storm ab Iblis🫣
Good point with Jesus, I remembered that after posting it, that it also might be controversial, but as you don't identify him as god, I thought it might be ok. And easier to picture for those with little knowledge ab Islam. Who hasn't heard ab Jesus, right? And without being a believer who would want to watch a rom-com fantasy drama with this name?😂 (but still it might happen in a country where Jesus is normally given name...)
Well, I think never and nowhere nothing good came out from taking religious sayings/beliefs too seriously. As a matter of fact in Korean cinematography I saw many various religous twists, they don't mind using their own too. It's not "disrespectful".
What's wrong with Jin?🤔 Even more I have no idea what's this .... storm ab Iblis🫣
Thanks for the explanation! Interesting part that there're genies falling in love with humans. When "a genie from the lamp" arc was chosen they should've followed that! But I really don't think it's about respecting or disrespecting. Let's say they'd make him say "my name is Jesus". I wouldn't say it's disrespecting for Christianity. It just doesn't make sense, but it's also not so serious matter to blow up such a shitstorm for many pages of comments...
they literally named the main guy iblis.. why would i as a muslim want to see the main character have the same…
And I agreed with you too - knowing it's the name of satan, and a genie isn't satan - it's a mess. Doesn't make sense. It's not that much of work to find out who is who, if one wants to use them. I'm really trying to understand your point of view. In the future, if you want to make such comparision, use the name Lucifer, as it is the name of satan. Also there're more high level demon's names that can be used like Belial, Leviathan, etc. :) Still, using their names in a rom-com would be kinda laughable. Even in a drama that would cover some known religous arcs. Otherwise viewers will have to treat them just as any other names.
Rather off topic, but you've sparked my interest: so the story says iblis was a human? And after making atrocities, became satan, the biggest evil?
they literally named the main guy iblis.. why would i as a muslim want to see the main character have the same…
For one thing I have to thank you - for explaining what' this all about with the Iblis name. I literally had no idea. Now that I know, I can express fully my agreement with Ch3rry. It's NOT disrespecting in any way (at this point as I believe there won't be any strong religious arcs in this drama). Rather, it's just a weird decision same as, as you're saying, naming him "Satan" or maybe "Yeomra" (one of the king's of underworld in Korean mythology) - doesn't sound good, and ppl might recognise "a Jin/Genie from the lamp", so why naming him "satan"?😂
Last but not least, Hiter was a real person, a human. That makes a huge difference. And it's his last name. His first name was Adolf. Still in use actually. But less and less popular.
This drama is way too overhyped. I'm giving up on it after 9eps. It's so boring and i don't see any chemistry…
I totally relate. I hated the romance between between the goblin and the girl. So forced, ugh. For romance arc the grimreaper's story would be enough. As Ji Eun Tak I see someone def older, 25-30 and so their interactions more dubious and complex. No big-love trope.
Still I really enjoyed it (just don't focus on the girl!XD), loooooved grimreaper<->goblin parts<3

P.S. I'm glad they've made Suzy's character "a psychopath" as she looks emotionless to me😅 I mean her acting, I don't know her personally ofc XD
