EP. 71… So the Emperor is an unjust Emperor and going against the Imperial Laws of the Empire? The other people beat the drum for a whole 20 seconds and they were quickly rushed in along with their evidence to make unfounded claims… they didn’t even call the victim but found him guilty, took his title and exiled him? But the victim comes with her complaint and evidence and the emperor left her for a day and a half and a night and refused to listen to her! And then the Empress has some stupid words of no wisdom? Reassigns like this is exactly why you should always let the emperor die! T because once you save their measly lives, that sacrifice becomes meaningless! An Emperor can openly favour a consort and defile Imperial Laws to cover for her but cannot openly favour an officer who basically handed him his life? I really hate when great storytelling becomes mediocre! Even if the end is a big “WOW IT WAS ALL PLANNED” … Okay, but why the in between stupidity? Why the nonsense middle story that made zero sense? These people were BOLD enough to come into Morning Court and LIE !!! All based on the fact they believed that protecting reputation was greater than the punishment received …. WHAT TYPE OF PRIMITIVE LOGIC IS THAT? Thieve last few episodes are honestly getting on my nerves now because of the concept… Protect Reputation even if it’s a bold faced lie, take the punishment ! To think the Emperor met GTY (MG) WHILE HE WAS ROAMING WITH HIS DAUGHTER IN SEARCH OF HIS SON !?! DID YOU GET AMNESIA? WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SCAR ON YOUR CHEST AND THE WITNESSES FROM YOUR MANOR AND YOUR OLD AREA WHEN ZMN RAN AWAY WITH YOUR SON? YOU HAD POSTERS UO AROUND THE CITY …WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THAT EVIDENCE? Nope as I end the series, the rating is decreasing more and more for me! Started brilliant, just a normal story about ancient life focused on an illegitimate daughter turned into mediocrity! WO PEH!

I was hoping for a child at least especially during the festival when they were being wished many children etc… I was thinking the ending would be SMZ playing with their son or even if it was them riding in the dessert, I wanted shot of her with their son even if it’s 40 years later. I feel an ending like that would have been a very satisfactory ending… bittersweet because at least YZJ legacy will live on. The Yans have literally all died as he was the last one so his legacy doesn’t even survive? Nah extremely sad ending. Painful even. The ending left me very dissatisfied especially after everything we’ve been through 😭😭😭😭

I finished it when express came out but I didn’t get a chance to update here. Amazing story and Amazing story telling! Amazing actors and actresses who did wonders with this… im only just disappointed with the end. I felt a little dissatisfied! Like we all knew YZJ was going to die, yes… but then why was there that scene wishing them children and all of that? I thought oh maybe they would have a child together to continue the Yan line at least because that then means the Yan line has died with YZJ and that’s no retribution! At least let their legacy live on. I feel like I would’ve had more satisfaction if the end was SMZ travelling with her son YZJ junior or something to continue BOTH their legacies… the end seemed rushed and confusing… EVERY OTHER PART - SOLID 9.5.

Just coming to quickly vent my anger at the last couple of episodes! Maybe it’s my impatience or my lack of tolerance for stupid story telling but WHAT IS HAPPENING? Ep 68 -70 so far… I mean, can we all stop with the stupidity to salvage the Sheng family Name please! So you’re telling me, it easier for MG to go to prison on BLATANTLY FALSE ACCUSATIONS rather than simply explain why that deranged Wang woman was trying to kill SML? I mean her father already justified the simplicity of the repercussions for the Sheng Family when he stated during the Wang interrogation when they were discussing going to court that at most his wife would be laughed for 2 years and they would still be able to live their lives as they were the victims! Furthermore, the Wang Woman went further to commit even more Gregory’s atrocities… WHO WOULD BELIEVE THE WANG FAMILY? MG is absolutely patronising! SO THEYVE HUMILIATED YOU TWICE USING THE EXACT SAME METHOD! THE EXACT SAME! Nothing changed in the method and they had the audacity to tell the big lies in front of the EMPEROR and what you’re kidding and laughing and relying on favour from the emperor? SIR, DON’T PISS ME OFF! Just so this part alone, I can’t give this story a 10 because they need to MORE THAN WOW ME IN THEIR COME BACK! For The AUDACITY of these people, I want to see 1000 cuts type sentencing! I’ve endured some of the silly storylines for this long and I’ve been engrossed. SML can be a little stupid at times, like some things need fast action, kill it at the source immediately, but instead they let it foster and foster and harm themselves, WHY WOULD YOU HARM YOURSELF!?! For a bigger fish? T catch the small fish so you may eat until the big fish appears! If you keep waiting on the big fish, what happens? You Starve! In other words, if you continue to wait for a big fish before you eat, you harm yourself which is what I’ve gathered so far with this drama. I think the method worked the first time with the Lin Woman, she had no power… but when she married MG, why are you still acting like you have no power and using customs and traditions as excuses but you’ve BEEN breaking ALL the rules! You care about public opinion but you don’t care about public opinion…. I’m I’m confused PICK A DAMN STANCE AND STICK TO IT! You acknowledged an evil doer as your Mother and allowed her to stay in your home but you moved out and had separated… The Emperor didn’t force you to break the wall as between your manor, you chose to do that knowing this person wanted to harm you. It’s an enjoyable drama but the holes I’ve seen are bigger than the mouth of a whale and I would’ve kept my mouth shut and gone along with everyone else if they didn’t begin to frustrate my patience in these last few episodes… you got trapped in a state of lies and you’re choosing to sit in it and ask for an amicable separation? AGAIN, DON’T PISS ME OFF! RANT OVER! I’ll update again when I finish these last three episodes! 73 episodes and I’m telling you if I’m not screaming by the end of this, I’m going to need someone to give me the contact details of one of the producers as I need to be compensated for time wasted! Tell a good story and tell it til the end! Don’t ruin a good story by dilly dallying with pedantic nonsense in order to fill the time!

Someone wrote that she’s taken ZZH death as another shield in her request for revenge. To me it’s clear CSJ has no purpose. Her priorities can shift at any given moment. Initially it was a quest for the tribute pearls in which she was blocked along every way to the point of the ruin of her family. The fault initially lay on DW who she wanted to kill but then shifted her aim at YZJ. Then it was getting back her family’s pavilion in which we saw her need for revenge towards YZJ dissipated as she felt comfort in gaining back what she lost, then she dove into trading in stolen jewels, and ZZH love and need to protect her led to his ultimate demise and now her excuse to continue down the path of no return is ZZH death … but I’m confused as to why she lied to ZJR because if she would have testified in that moment, she would have avenged him right there and then. Her choices are really led by irrationality more than anything at this point. And her fall is eminent.

She was forced to go to Xiyan due to that meddling of that annoying Princess! CP of great Yan then solidified it when he went back and used the fake was voodoo girl to manipulate his Father into naming him CP, then further manipulated his Father so that he could return to the other state (can’t remember the name) so that he could go back for Mei Lin, WHO NEVER WANTED TO LEAVE WITH HIM! If it wasn’t for his annoying clearly DEAF meddling sister, Mei was meant to be Prince King’s Palace but again meddling annoying princess and his friendship with the emperor, she instead ended up in the state of ceremonial affairs! The story made no sense and was genuinely annoying at points! It was their meddling that ensured she ended up in Xiya. I understand your synopsis of episode 6, but I believe at some point, I don’t remember what episode exactly, she was meant to be with Prince Jing, I’m not too sure if it was as a concubine or not, but the ceremony ended up not happening again due to that ANNOYING, I can’t scream enough how actually ANNOYING that character was, constantly meddling and making demands without actually knowing the full story of Anything! CP of Xiyan meddled by manipulating the Emperor into decreeing their marriage stating that his Father had approved or something like that and to keep the peace the emperor had to grant it, then he went to Mei Lin saying it was just formalities knowing exactly what he intended to do.

For me personally, it was just too much! From the annoying Princess, and I promise you I wanted to slap her mouth shut from episode one, to the gullible emperor to even Mei Lin herself and some of her useless decisions, it was all over the place!

She was a pawn for everybody’s use including Prince Jing! And I can understand the character arc of this innocent girl turned assassin, but I would’ve thought assassins were a bit sharper and to know when they were being manipulated … she just ended up being a dumb, easily manipulated girl who just knew how to use a knife. Like I mentioned earlier, I like when a story makes sense, even when it frustrates me til the end, I still understand the sense of it and the reasoning when certain things turn out as they do. I’m not sure if you’ve been reading some of the threads on this platform but if you happen to come across some of my comments you’ll note that I’m very reasonable with characaters and try to understand how they’re written. With KMLM, I tried but I had no more time to waste. It started off so strong and I was routing for it, but by the middle I was just left confused. I won’t lie, the best character for me was Prince Jinghe (Prince Jings Older brother)! At some point I was routing for him even with all his calamities, why? Because I felt like he WANTED ghat glory, that success, that title way more than anything and he was extremely meticulous, left no stones unturned and that’s the true nature of someone looking for revenge. Like compare him to YZJ… would you not say they’re very similar characters except one is a villain yes, but YZJ is on the border between villain and anti-hero! Extremely meticulous, no stones left unturned and at whatever costs! The fault of Prince Jing was over planning, and Mei Lin was just not very smart and unnecessarily kind for someone who had gone through what she went through not saying that’s a bad thing I just didn’t think it fit. Maybe I’ll go back and watch it again when I’m bored, in my maternity leave lol but as for now I felt like it started STRONG had so much potential only to be a let down by the time I left it. Ahh I see… as I mentioned I dropped the show episode 22 and the Prince she left with had been crowned the “Crowned Prince” of great Yan so I made an informed guess as to why she would be addressed as Empress seeing as she was Crowned Princess of great Yan so technically when the King dies being the “ Crowned Prince and Princess” automatically puts you next in line to be the next Emperor and Empress that’s the line of ascension. I was explaining the line of ascension to you not specifically based on the show just the general idea of ascension in Dynasties.

Again, I didn’t finish the show, because I knew where it was headed and went to the comments to confirm my theory which it did. Also tbh, I was already getting annoyed with the story… the last draw for me was when she rode all night just at the taught that he may have died, only not to see him and then to leave him and marry the crown prince of great yan! I don’t know about you but after all that building they did to get the two main characters where they were… it was a slap in the face.

I’ve watched one and only, and the realism of that drama taught me something, once it’s decreed, there’s very little chance of coming back from that decree. Especially with her being sent far away, they did that grand exit… I knew where the story was going, I didn’t have to have my intelligence played with as I felt the writers did and I believe many viewers shared the same sentiments. Even more insulting to know the original source material had a HE so why stray from that? For dramatic effect? After all that tragedy and build up? Nope. So thanks for your advice but I make very informed and insightful decisions when I decide to drop a drama, I rarely do, but if I drop a drama it’s because it was unnecessary to finish. Til this day I still haven’t healed from the trauma that was One and only even though I’ve watched Forever and Ever like 10 times… the damage was done.

I see!!! I watched it but didn’t finish it as I knew where they were going with the story and it made absolutely no sense to me so I dropped it. Yes she would’ve been empress of that other state because she left with the crown Prince which was his plan all along to give her a better life so she was crown princess of that state so automatically when the king died as crown prince and princess they would have been next in line for Emperor and Empress. It doesn’t need to be decreed because the title “CROWN” automatically grants them next in line to the throne except decreed otherwise. If an Empress is deposed and a new empress is to take her place, that position would require a decree. I hope I made it a bit clearer? 😇

Yes, and the dowager titles are bestowed by their emperor sons. A servant could never address her as empress whilst alive unless it was decreed so. Why are you asking if I may ask?

I think empress dowager titles are bestowed posthumous but never seen an empress titled bestowed after death.
