Started off really promising but the latter episodes didn't live up to its expectation. Felt really rush and things…
We don't know for sure what the half brother was saying to Pan'er was genuine right? We never find out? Like the charater took a 180 degree turn for no reason... or for reasons that weren't properly conveyed or convincing, shall I say.
Did they even reveal what happened to San Niang's son for him to come all the way to the Capital?
I was really looking forward to this drama as I was craving some good wuxia with good fight scenes. I really liked the vibe of the first 2 episodes and then I slowly realise (while there will always be like politics between sects etc.) they're going to be staying in the capital for longggg time with a heavy focus on power struggle and politics between on the two main sects, mixed in with some meddling of the royal/ government issues and decided to drop it.
I was expecting like, new boy in town (in Jianghu) travelling around, facing different challenges, making friends along the way and all improving their fighting skills.
Definitely not to say it's not a good drama, just not what I was expecting and looking for ;).
I haven't watched a lot of chinese slice of life dramas but from the 2 or so I've seen, I find them really well executed; though I have to admit I do sometimes have to watch them at like 1.5 speed - sometimes they're a bit slow, lol. But there's enough to keep drawing you in to find out what's to come in the next episodes. And like the member below mentioned, theres lots to take away - life lessons, things to reflect on and things you can relate to. Lots of touching scenes too.
Someone mentioned this before, rather early on, and I agree that I found the ML a bit creepy initially, in terms of his feelings towards the FL. I mean, it's all about perspective right? If he were the second ML or say the antagonist, then his character would not be viewed favourably. And when he was angry (at the hotel surprise birthday party and at the restaurant when FL suggested to go holiday abroad), his gaze was really something - terrifying, which made me think he had like anger issues. Maybe it was just me? The actor's acting is really good good, really into his character.
We're almost a third in but there hasn't been more clues. Almost everyone is suspicious. I was hoping for more concrete clues today. especially from the taxi driver.
I initially thought that the sister was probably kidnapped with the FL, something happened and the sister ultimately died and her heart was transplanted into the FL's body. But then. why would ML only feel what FL feels now, after 18 years, so I guess this prediction is weak. Before that, I thougth the Grandma and Mum killed sister for the heart, but doesn't seem like it...
The sister of the stalker is strange in that, like, wouldn't you report your brother being missing by now? Or is that to say, there'll be one less plot so they'd rather leave in the story line.
The new police officer is so sketchy. Glad the lady police officer is catching on...
And when will the restaurant be open for business? Lol
I think they cut a lot of scenes out. Were we ever shown the scene of Da Yu in the gym or in the park, possibly pullng clients for her job? I don't recall seeing them, unless I had missed it. And Li Ao and Xiao Yu doing pottery?
Finale: It’s so strange. It has left me wallowing in melancholy which is not what I was expecting. I wasn’t…
I agree. I wasn't expecting a huge romantic finale but... sigh
I even thought half way through the last episode that the scene of Da Yu and Cheng Wu sitting on the swing (from the ending credits/ ost MV) in the hostel would be the last scene of this whole drama with Da Yu's narrative, but obviously after he has confessed to her - that, I would be satisfied with. But noooo.... We didn't even get to see Cheng Wu pluck up the courage to confess to Da Yu, even after helping Da Fei confesss! I even hoped he would exchange eye signals with Da Yu then as well! So many times when they were at the hostel I was hoping Da Yu would initiate it by bringing up the necklace and the note he had left in the Shangxin museum but that didn't happen either. I kept constantly thinking, something's going to happen, someone will definitely confess, someone has to, it can't end yet! And just kept waiting and waiting...
I felt like we could have been given another episode or an extra scene :'(.
It was a good drama, albeit it ended leaving me feeling a bit empty.
I am however satisfied with the two second leads ending. If they ended up differently, it would've been too unrealistic. I liked that they kept it real and she stood by her belief! Perhaps they will end up later, who knows ;).
I tried this drama but found it a bit too slow and flat. I guess the main plot is who tried to kill him when he was younger and why, how he'll survive in School and that there be some political struggle in the bg. I think I watched up to 5 episodes but somewhat lost the momentum. Is it worth picking up again?
The opening song is really nice and I like the colour theme of their school.
A super brief look at the last couple of messages made me want to ask a question to see if I should venture into this drama - does it end with a cliff hanger? I might pass if questions are left unanswered coz you ultimately want closure and answers at the end.
Stumbled across this drama by chance and turns out pretty good. Slice of life, easy to resonate with but it's not slow paced; the story is moving along at a good pace. And and and love the friendship between the three!
I am looking forward to seeing Da Yu and Chengwu's relationship develop. It's obvious he likes her, but can't see much of it coming from Da Yu yet, though it's on her mind. I don't like the fact the ex has more of an active role now, but I guess he acts like a catalyst (and with the help of Xiao Yu) to get Chengwu to be more proactive.
The second lead couple - I'm not surprised if they break up. I don't think they're compatible (as things stand atm) or at least, to not work together. I wouldn't mind if they don't end up together but to remain as friends as they both grow from the relationship.
I also agree with the majority, it should be rated way more than 7,7!!!
Is this very romance heavy? I don't like spoilers so I try to refrain from reading comments and even the summary sometimes before I watch a drama just in case it spoils too much. I watched like a minute of the trailer but stopped. It's been a while since I've seen such a high rated chinese historical drama so tempted to see how it fares, but with romance heavy romance, I really need to be in the mood XD.
So I've only just started this and avoiding to read too many comments in case I come upon a spoiler by accident.…
quite angry at Sheng'er's actions. Like, I hope there is huge character development for him, as he's just causing trouble for everyone and at the costs of other 48 stronghold's lives including Wang Lao Fu Ren :'(! Granted, it is not intentional.
Anyways, I would just like to know whether the protection and getting the Wu siblings to 48 Stronghold territory forms the base of this entire drama? Or this is just an arc that ends imminently with them returning to 48 Stronghold for at least a while to deal with the senior disciple's death, Wang Lao Fu Ren plus other members, before they set foot out again? I've also noticed Wu Chu Chu is like listed as the first support role here so I'm guessing we'll be seeing her a lot but I feel the arc getting them home is getting a bit draggy now.
Has a second season been confirmed since there's still quite a bit to be resolved? Andddd and ...
Is it correct to say that Xiao Chu doesn't know the real identity of Long Bi Xie? Or did she hear that convo between him and the Headmaster guy with the pools?
how everything/ most ppl are working to Xu Xiao/ Bei Liang's favour so far? Even the well known enemy of Xu Xiao/…
Hm... I don't know how I feel about Xiao Xu at the moment. From all the hearsays and then for him to first appear on screen only to be scolded by his son and not really retaliating, I thought, "He must be a likeable quirky character..." but the more the story progresses, the more I go back and forth between being quite fond of him to like WTH, especially when he decided to send off Huang Man-er to rid him of his strength etc. I was really caught off guard then. From that point onwards, his intentions or plans weren't too surprising anymore... including how more or less every single family member is used like a pawn to secure the greater peace. But I guess this polar opposite personality or belief of XX found in XFN, is why we're rooting for him to find the third way out of things without the sacrifice of too many innocent ppl.
While I hope things go well for XFN, just hope everything isn't too smooth sailing, otherwise it'll kill some of the excitement, coz it all becomes expected.
