I didn't like ep. 2 at all. The end felt extremely rushed, while we got completely unnecessary musical numbers…
"They sped run that plot twist making it very weak." It's the same in the original. It's not a huge plot twist. Plus the story isn't focused on that. I agree with you about the emotions. I don't feel any kind of emotion from the characters. It's like they're describing a story instead of living the characters' story, being them & feeling their emotions. Maybe it'll get better? (I'm only talking about Gemini&Forth. I don't remember about the others😅)
At least, thanks to this remake, I re-watched the Japanese drama and I remembered why I loved it so much.
As a stand alone, this is not bad. It's enjoyable. But knowing what they did? I kept wondering how the original story is different, what they removed, how much it is better or not, etc.? So I'll wait until the whole novel is translated, then write a review about it. I need that to have a definite opinion about this series.
As of now, I dislike 2 things about this adaption 1/ The removal of Yi Heon's homosexuality. This is a big part of his identity and the reason for the bullying. So, for me, if you want to adapt a gay story, you should keep such a big part of it. Since they removed it, it just feels like the usual bullying story, which we already see in a lot of k-drama. And better handled. 2/ The absence of human's warmth? bonding? I don't know how to call it. You know when, watching a series, you feel the characters' emotions and chemistry between them (be it friendship, family, siblings, etc.)? Not only you feel each of the characters' (main/support) sentiments alongside them, but you also feel strongly about the relationship between each character. I can't find that here.
Note: Is it just me or is Se Kyung's home life downplayed? I remember reading in the synopsis that he suffers domestic violent, but they don't show it here. They only talk about anxiety.
the haters are really weird. they are obsessed with this drama more than the fans, always ready to answer questions…
Well I guess people are tired of gay adaptation that remove the gay parts. You don't want gay? Don't adapt gay stories. Honestly, if they only removed the romance, but kept Yi Heon's homosexuality, people wouldn't have been as mad as they are now.
In my case, I don't care so much about the romance between Yi Heon and Se Kyung -though it would have been great if they left it-. However, they shouldn't have removed Yi Heon's homosexuality. It's part of his identity and the reason he was bullied.
The high school boys had a relationship that was censored, and Yi Heon's gay identity was censored. His identity…
What don't you understand in the fact that they changed part of Yi Heon's identity? He was bullied because he's gay. He killed himself because the bullying by homophobic idiots. They could have used this series for some awareness about LGBTQ.
It definetely was supposed to 'bring ground breaking changes', because the plot revolves around the bullying a…
"It definitely was supposed to 'bring ground breaking changes', because the plot revolves around the bullying a character receives, for being gay." I didn't know about that since I never read the novel. In that case I agree with you.
Although I don't regret that they removed the BL part because of the huge age gap. I feel uncomfortable about the 47/18. So I'm okay with it being a bromance (though I would've never watched this if they made it straight). However, they should have kept Song Yi Heon's homosexuality.
Lin Chen was the most disappointing character I've ever seen until today: I was waiting for some character's development and redeeming throughout the whole series. Yet, he became worse. Even when he finally became part of the group, I was expecting him to change and be a good friend. Then he made that choice.
Is it so bad? Can I just watch the 23 episodes, never watch the last one and still not miss anything? Like ep.…
Okay. Thank you for your reply!🥰 If it's not 100% sure, it means an kind of open ending, so I can easily write the happy ending in my head😌😂
Don't worry. I'm currently watching it. I'm at episode 8. I think my favorite character for now is Lin Xiao. Such a cutie patootie cinnamon roll!!🥹🤭❤️ I just want to give him lot of comfort hugs & squeeze his cheeks!😂 And slap his mom😒
OK, I figured out what must have happened. The person who wrote the first 23 episodes died and his younger brother,…
Is it so bad? Can I just watch the 23 episodes, never watch the last one and still not miss anything? Like ep. 23 won't end on some cliffhanger? Also, do the guys end with some girls? (Please I don't want more spoiler than that)
I haven't read the books -since I can't find them- so I don't know how much these Wu Xie & Zhang Qiling are faithful to the original work. However, I know that they're a lot different from those in the series, especially ZQL. I found it refreshing. I wish it was a series instead of a movie (even a short one) for 2 reasons: 1.More WX&ZQL 2.More mystery and riddles in the grave (the part I prefer)
About the story itself: I like the beginning and the horrific parts in the tomb. That's what I love in this story: the atmosphere in the grave with danger awaiting them in every corner. Then there was that ending with the combat. I didn't like it. It was like a different universe from "The Grave Robbers' Chronicles".
Note: the actress that plays the witch is beautiful!^_^
I don't understand why he doesn't have more work. He's handsome and talented. Plus he has so much presence and charisma. I couldn't take my eyes off of him when I was watching "Order of the Sommelier".
I've just finished the series. I didn't expect it to be so good since it's low budget. I wish for more people to see this little gem.
Note 1: The first story is a love story not friendship. I mean it's about "a friendship between a demon and a human" and how they kept meeting in secret. If 1 of them was a girl, that would have been a romance story😌 Same for the last story (with the painter).
Note 2: Kenji Chen (Fu Yu) is 39????????!!!!!!!!!😱 I thought he was in his 20'.
