I’m not Japanese but to my knowledge of years, Japanese man pretty much expect you to hit on him if you’re…
Thank you 😊 I figured it’s probably a rather common practice since so many series have it. So I wanted to see if it’s really common or an exaggeration. It’s really interesting how different cultures view things differently, and what’s considered “common sense” in one culture is unacceptable or funny for another. 🤩
I agree - for me, it came to a point where if I see a woman in a BL series, I immediately start dreading the moment…
Wait, who said that “men love men because they hate women”??? That is absurd! Gay men love men and it has nothing to do with women. Just like lesbians love women and it has nothing to do with men. 🤷♀️ I am ok with “in your face” bitchy characters - male or female. As a woman, I am not insulted, I’m just tired of dumb bitch characters, and not just in BL, but in general. Unfortunately, in BL it’s more prominent when the writers (mostly women) chose an easy path of introducing a dumb female who can’t take no for an answer, even when she has no chance for objective reasons. That’s the trope I am tired of. If she is a really well written villain - I will be happy to watch her! And as I said, I am very grateful for all series that introduced normal female characters. Lately, it seems to be much better by the way. Maybe that’s why when I see a dumb character I go “not again!” 😂 As for gay writers, I would love to see more gay romance from them. I really enjoyed “My Ride” the novel and I wish the series didn’t swap Nadya - an original male character for a female, even though she was an example of a normal female in the series.

Yes, there are series with normal female characters, and each time I am very grateful for them! But it’s like going to the dentist for me - out of all the times I went, sometimes it didn’t hurt, but a lot of times it did. So I am very apprehensive every time I go 😂 I agree that Shimizu is not written well and maybe she’s a good girl deep inside 🤔 From what she’s been doing, though, I find her manipulative - with the whole boss situation that she could easily resolve by herself, and visiting Souta uninvited knowing he’s too polite to not let her in. That’s a bitchy behavior to me, BL ot not. We’ll see what she’ll do next, but honestly I am disappointed with this series for now. And that includes Mahiro’s behavior, by the way. I also hope if the audience voices its disappointment with the trope more often the authors will get the message. 🤞
Ok, I am really curious about something, and I hope people who know Japanese culture can answer.
How common is it for a woman to confess to a man? And how common is it for a man to accept that woman?
I’m asking because where I grew up it was pretty much unheard of. Guys were chasing girls, trying to get their attention and everyone enjoyed the process - it was fun! If a girl confessed, though, she would be considered an easy target and any serious interest a guy might have would vanish. I’m not saying it’s good or bad - just what I saw. That’s why it’s really interesting to me how different cultures deal with the courtship process.
*sigh* It's hard to believe that the same person who directed Old Fashion Cupcake also directed this slog. I almost…
I agree - for me, it came to a point where if I see a woman in a BL series, I immediately start dreading the moment when she becomes a run of the mill BL bitch. Why does it have to be like that??? As you said, the audience is largely women, the authors are also largely women. Why do the authors hate women and why do we have to hate women? It doesn’t make any sense to me! 🤦♀️ At this point, please give me all male cast if it’s totally impossible to create a believable female character 😔
Co-worker doesn't realize that if she doesn't end up with Souta, she's going to be in a awkward workplace with…
I think she does realize it, that’s why she asked him to “not end it immediately” 🙀 My jaw just dropped at her audacity - girl, your feelings are your problem. Why are you dumping it on him??? 🤷♀️
To be honest, I wondered about that as well. I also thought it was very odd that she purposely sought out M to…
It’s super weird. I was honestly cheering when she left S all pouty - I thought she figured out she had no chances here and gave up like a self-respecting human being. But noooo! We are back to a regular BL bitch with no self respect. Okay then 🤦♀️
Very cute two episodes! I read the webtoon a long time ago. Does anyone remember why Chan is calling Sun Yeol “ham” instead of “hyung” (sorry for spelling)? There was something funny about it in the webtoon, but I don’t remember 🤷♀️
Actually, it makes perfect sense for Lomfon to fight for Tai’s attention. Lomfon doesn’t believe in the idea…
I understand that people do what they have to do to survive. A marriage like that must be very taxing for both man and woman (unless she doesn’t care about sex). I’m glad the society has changed (at least, in the US) so that people can openly be with who they love and not be persecuted for that. I’m sorry about your childhood awful experience. That should never happen! I had bad encounters with pedophiles as a child, and they should be hung on a nearest tree. 🤬
I really hope the parents’ story is not a throwaway (although it could be). Tai is very cute! I like Patt, too. Pee is a very good actor - I liked him a lot in Y Destiny. He was funny and cute. Here, he pulls off handsome and fun character.

Dad might be bi. I mean, he did have four kids with a woman… I understand some gay men can sleep with a woman, but how common is it? I’m not an expert, just honestly curious. Like, I don’t think I would ever be able to get sexually involved with a woman. So I assume a gay man would have a similar “eek” factor? 🤷♀️
Edit: also, since you don’t know who your soulmate might be, it seems like there’s no stigma for being gay in this universe. So if dad was truly gay - he could have freely say to the mom “sorry, I am gay and I am not interested in you sexually”. So yeah, his mannerisms are ambiguous, but I still think he could be bi.

That would be very interesting if the plot was deeper than one of the parents cheated! I was wondering - what if there’s more than one soulmate per person? I mean, wouldn’t it be too cruel if they had one and only person for their entire life? What if a soulmate dies young? You never find him? Or you have found him and lost forever any opportunity to have one if he passes away? I think it would be pretty interesting to navigate a situation with more than one soulmate 🍿 Also, dad could still be the cheating one. While mom could just have this friend who loved her from afar for a while, and now that she divorced her husband, that friend is right there, “readily available” 😉
Judging by what Korn said in that scene and that Mintra had nothing to bite back with. It's probably just a facade,…
Yep, our BL Bitch is as regular as can be. Oh well… 😔Maybe she’ll come up with something less traditional than jumping in her enemy’s face 🤷♀️
Korn definitely is better off with Pawin who is way more understanding and way less demanding than Mintra. Pawin is giving constant praise to Korn, and that’s what he needs right now. I love Pawin, and he definitely should get his man! 😻
I actually hope they will backtrack and show how Gun fell for Pitch. Kinda like they showed Gun/Pitch’s day as a back story in this episode. Kdramas do it all the time, missing some clues on purpose and then show them later. 🤞And yes, he has to follow the house rules… when in the house, right? 😉 He does have a nice apartment, though… just saying 😂 The stalker is really sick. I think she should hook up with Mintra - that would be a lovely couple 🤯
It seems like the format the series took is giving an episode to each couple. Well, we’ll see how it goes 🍿😊
Actually, it makes perfect sense for Lomfon to fight for Tai’s attention. Lomfon doesn’t believe in the idea…
I personally would never hit on someone in a relationship. To me, being a “contender” isn’t worth it. In Lomfon’s case, I can see where Tai never implied “fuck off” just because Tai never thought of Lamfon as a “contender”. He was very friendly with him and Lamfon misinterpreted it as some feelings. So to him, if Tai has “feelings” for him (Lamfon) it must mean that his “soulmate” is fake and Lamfon has a chance. I think Lamfon is confused about the situation here, and once Tai clears it up, stating that he’s not into Lamfon - he will stop his advances. It looks to me like Lamfon thinks that Patts is taking advantage of Tai so he feels like he should intervene. I might be wrong, but that’s the feeling I get from him.
Actually, it makes perfect sense for Lomfon to fight for Tai’s attention. Lomfon doesn’t believe in the idea…
Well, it’s your opinion about the situation, and it just happens to be different from mine, which is ok 😊 I think this whole “crush on Tai” phase will fade really quickly in the next episode when Tien sets Lomfon straight and maybe Tai firmly says he’s not into Lomfon. I still think it’s important for Tai to state his opinion. You’re right - it’s just like “there’s a chance for me since they’re not married”. To me, there’s nothing wrong with presenting another “contender”, though, as long as he’s not being stalkerish. Just saying “Look, I am your other option. Do you want me?” At which point it’s up to the “loved” person to say “I don’t like you” and the “contender” backs off. Patt is not Lomfon’s friend, so Lomfon has every right to present himself as a contender (nicely and respectfully). Once Tai says he’s not into him, Lomfon will respect it and will back off. Then, the arc of Lomfon/Tien will start.

I don’t think Lomfon is an asshole, though. I understand your frustration with the trope, but in this case Lomfon just found out that his crush’s “soulmate” is here. He does not believe in soulmates, and he doesn’t know how much “together” they are. Tai has been extremely friendly with Lomfon which he could interpret as reciprocated feelings. So this “soulmate” will have to see who’s better. I think it’s up to Tai now to firmly state his feelings (or lack of them) to Lomfon for him to back off. I think right now Lomfon is in a “savior” mode, trying to save Tai from the disaster of this “soulmate” theory. We’ll see what happens. 😊
