I watched maybe 10 min of the drama and had to take a break. the fact that he looks just like POB which I just finished, is a little disorienting to me. costume and makeup didn’t even bother changing up his look 👀and Wei liang is here!! I think I just need some time for POB to pass within me

same. the visuals are too stunning to pass up. but at the same time, I pray the story and the acting and just the drama itself is a good watch.

I got my eyes set on the end of this year. there’s just so much content being pumped out that it looks like they’re getting us hyped up. TPR took 8 months to air after filming. I remember thinking wow that was fast esp for a costume drama. this drama is totes my Christmas wish 🥹

I heard it’s like a pendulum. it’s strict and then they loosen up and then they get too loose and swing it back the other way. let us hope for Zhu Yu we still get loose censorship!

I feel like there’s always a pattern after leads film their drama. they’re cute in the BTS bc, well, fan service and maybe they genuinely enjoy each others company, but immediately after filming they’re distant almost as if they’re not allowed to speak to each other and then the drama airs a year later and during that time they’re super interactive between themselves and amongst the fans.

I realize this is prob just marketing from their respective labels. and they probably have to separate after filming bc they’re always on to the next big project. like ZLH is now filming Overdo, so that’s likely why he may seem distant with his previous costar bc he has to feed into a new fanservice. but who knows! these young beautiful people are prob still friends! still texting “hey what’s up, filming was ridiculous today lololol” 🤷🏻‍♀️

totes agree. def shorter and slicked back, parted to the side would be more appropriate. I get it, his hairstyle suits him but I think it draws attention away from the drama. her hair I’m assuming would be uniform Hollywood waves, shifted to one side or even in a low bun. can you imagine if she showed up with loose beachy waves? just don’t work that way.

LOVE the aesthetics ngl but I wish ZLH’s hair wasn’t so modern and I wish it matched the time period. he’d actually look suuuuper handsome with the slick back side part ‘do. he seems to always have this hairstyle which works for him I guess but it’s the same hairstyle as the best thing and just daily life. give us something different! also, their height difference is giving me LIFE.

I was so sure he wasn’t dead. I thought the breast plate would save him. I cried when he was for sure gone. I appreciate this drama not giving all the wins to the protagonists though. wei Liang was a big character but they weren’t afraid to sacrifice him for the sake of the story. maybe it’s bc I never see this in other dramas but I appreciate that. def sad but something beautiful about his passing, about his memories and his friends and xiaotao and even manman’s father honoring him the way they did. it was depressing and lovely at the same time

I get it. I think for me I basically took all the characters’ words for it. everyone said the qiao fam’s two daughters are renowned beauties. so I just said okay they’re pretty and everyone knows it.

her death was so satisfying. death is easy. being killed. then everything ends. but the fact that she stabbed someone who was able to explain why he was there, LITERALLY THERE TO PROTECT AND ESCORT HER, forced her to reflect on Wei’s true words that she was basically looking at everyone else’s green grass but her own. what a sad, sad realization filled with deep remorse. she blamed everyone for abandoning her when she really was the one who abandoned herself her entire life.

I wasn’t going to watch this bc LYN isn’t my fave. but I think this drama really secured his foothold in the cdrama industry and I find myself slowly maybe becoming a fan. I think you’re totes right that the chemistry could have been better but the good writing and the actors’ respective acting skills kinda made up for it. sometimes it isn’t even the chemistry, it could be as simple as the visuals just look a bit off (which is actually how I felt in this drama)

tbh the middle got rather boring for me. I’m like wut. why this a 9 but then I kept at it and this drama is the first in a long time that actually was good until the end. it even got better towards the end imo, much more riveting. give it another shot! even if it means you’re kinda half watching in the middle which was what I was doing

never seen such FULL momentum coming to a screeching halt. 🥲
