I don't think they come from different worlds. Sang So's family is not so well off. His mom had to keep working even if she is the owner of her business. He had to graduate and work to earn his living. Soo Young has parents who run their own restaurant. It is better than being a clerk or a cleaner.

He wants to hide is average background by staying an average man with no problems to resolve. This is why he hesitated to have her as his gf or defend her. His true status will backfire at him when the rich family of SFL knows about it.
Soo Young cancelled him because she is hot headed and stubborn and she had no patience for him. She justified herself using fake reasons about status and so on but the truth is she did not like him enough to give him a true chance.

ML should make up his mind and move on with SFL. It might work. It might not work. But he needs to move on. FL does not love him anyway. Especially FL should not judge him because she is the one who rejected him and she went to someone else so she does not need to keep being judgemental about him, who he is, what he does and who he is dating.
SFL sensed that something is fishy. But suddenly FL announced she is dating the guard. That put her at ease regarding the FL but she does not know that ML and FL went on a date and then she cancelled him. That should make her adapt her approach of the situation.

You also have to develop relationships with your colleagues especially if you have ambitions to climb in the hierarchy.
