For me, the ML knows quite soon that she is not his real sister so his fondness for her is not really the one of a brother. On her side, she thinks of him as a brother for a very long time. People should know the shitty ending before they start this drama. They should know there is a happy ending if they stop watching at 31:00 of ep40. After that, it is just the usual bs propaganda to promote stupid values like "no need to be happy, just die for the country".

It means she has been visiting it every year at blossom time wishing for her husband to come back and he never came back. Because he is dead and she has been a widow all this time like she promised she would be.
Just another horrendous ending to brainwash the Chinese people that life is not about being happy ever after, it is about sacrificing your life for the country. It was unnecessary to have ML and his subordinates who were so fun and competent to die in the end. Better to stop watching at minute 31:00 of ep 40. That's where the happy ending is.

Until episode 24, the drama is pretty good with a consistent main plot, an endearing main couple, a good annoying villain, a torn but great general, good pace and good fights and nice romance development.
After that, the new plots are lame like the old man finally conquering the teen concubine and making her pregnant or the nutjob king eating the medicine like a gluton or the maid turned into a blood bank.
I forced myself to watch ep 25 to 27 but ok, I decided to end my torture. Will stick with ep24 and the end of the main plot. Good enough for me.

Shamefull. The writers gave the main villain an honorable death and that made him the real hero of the show. The story is not about the main couple but about an obsessed pitiful brute who dies to protect the love of his life. Crap.
