I agree that people see the ending their own way but for me, when they plant the tree, it is 1.5 meters high. Then she takes care of it and it is 2 and 3 meters high. Meaning her husband has been at war for almost 2 years. Then there is no war scenes anymore and she goes to visit the tree, it is almost 7 or 8 meters high. So it means 5 or 6 years after the war, her husband is still not back. For me, him riding his horse from a ravine is fantasy and a wishful thinking from her. We do not see them reunite at all. Because they do not. We do not see a smile on her face. She would be smiling if her man was really here. She is just emotionless.

For me, the ML knows quite soon that she is not his real sister so his fondness for her is not really the one of a brother. On her side, she thinks of him as a brother for a very long time. She even tries to find a partner for him. You do not do that when you are "in love" with a person. No, the extra episode is just made to please the ones who wanted a happy ending. The characters are in an alternate reality and they even break the fourth wall and talk directly to the viewers.

It means she has been visiting it every year at blossom time wishing for her husband to come back and he never came back. Because he is dead and she has been a widow all this time like she promised she would be.
Just another horrendous ending to brainwash the Chinese people that life is not about being happy ever after, it is about sacrificing your life for the country. Until episode 24, the drama is pretty good with a consistent main plot, an endearing main couple, a good annoying villain, a torn but great general, good pace and good fights and nice romance development.
After that, the new plots are lame like the old man finally conquering the teen concubine and making her pregnant or the nutjob king eating the medicine like a gluton or the maid turned into a blood bank.
I forced myself to watch ep 25 to 27 but ok, I decided to end my torture. Will stick with ep24 and the end of the main plot. Good enough for me.
Better stop the drama at ep 24, 8:15, for a good drama and an open ending for the good guys. After that, the drama falls into a sea of BS. I stopped at ep27. Won't resume.
