what is the controversy
Probably you think everything you see in this drama belongs to China. When in fact is it just a few details of clothing. This drama is not chinese wuxia, xianxia like I explained to you with arguments and it does not even feel cdrama.

Overall the drama looks just a kdrama but for nationalistic people like you, you need to "defend" your chinese "property" (You are probably not even chinese citizen living in China) and call everything chinese like if some is stealing something from you and you need to take it back.

This drama has its own refreshing universe, great characters and a good story and its success and the satisfaction it gives to viewers echoes in the house of South Korea. Not China.

what is the controversy
There you said it yourself. This drama just used some chinese influence among plenty of korean elements and some western elements like hairstyle or music based on drum and electric guitar to create a specific universe and an entertaining drama.

what is the controversy
I appreciate my culture so I am glad if you appreciate it to the point you want to use it. You can start making baguettes in your street and call them your chinese baguette, No problem with me. I love vietnamese baguette sandwiches and korean ones too.

You can call it claiming or defending your culture, it is the same thing if you want to make it exclusive for yourself: it is stupid. I am so glad the turk did not put a copyright on their kebab. Now I can enjoy german version, greek version, marrocan version, my own version...

what is the controversy
Just put a copyright on your culture then and good luck suing countries who dare claim your culture are theirs. lol.
You can start with Korea. People like you claimed kimchi belongs to China.

Cultures learn and evolve influencing each other. This is why chinese invented the suit with mao collar and japan invented ramen and my neighbor invented hamburgers made of noodles.

I could not care less about nationalistic bums who are so insecured about who they are they need to claim they own things. You can take all the elements of my culture and make them yours. I 'll be happy if you do. They are here for you to use.

Your impression belongs to you only. It does not mean it is the reality. This drama has:- No guy from poor condition…
On the contrary of you I don't make claim that I cannot back. I listed to you all these chinese elements which make the chinese subgenres called Wuxia and Xianxia. This is not zooming. This is fact. You can have the vibe you want but facts are facts. This drama has none of these chinese elements so this drama is not Wuxia or Xianxia. *

You can zoom on a costume to try to justify your fake claim I can handpick another character the same way. Look at the ML. His collar is hanbok, his buttons are chinese, his hairstyle is mine some years ago. You can pick what you want to make yourself proud but this drama's universe is a fusion one.

You wish this drama is a copycat of a chinese work. It would mean that chinese original can be refreshing and innovative like this one. But that's not the case.

what is the controversy
I could show you a pair of historical clothes you would not know which one is chinese and which one is korean. I am not into this kind of silly debate. People who want to claim their own traditional clothes should just stop wearing suits and other western style clothing and go back to whatever their proud people used to wear back in the time.

No it doesn't.
It is rather you trying to force your opinion on people. This is no a wuxia/xianxia. If you want to know why you can go check on what defines these subgenres.

than xianxia, this drama reminds me more of wuxia drama(ex. the legend of condor heroes 2017). The plot…
Your impression belongs to you only. It does not mean it is the reality. This drama has:

- No guy from poor condition trying to become the best by cultivating himself for years.
- No bunch of guys let's go find a stolen secret book to teach us some technique
- No chinese code of xia
- No chinese kung fu, tiger stance, dragon stance, snake stance, little dunk racoon stance
- No chinese claws with chains, no shield turning into giant saws, warriors jumping on them, no qiang, no guzheng sending swords of energy or other kung fu crazy weapons.
- No Qinggong striding and fighting in the air or on water bouncing using a finger
- No Qi to cultivate and turn into super sayan
- No acupuncture point I hit you you can't move now, now you can, now you cannot, now you can.
- No chinese mythology, taoism, chinese religion, chinese folklore, chinese medicine this pill turn you into a vegetable or revives you.
- No chinese gods, no chinese immortals, no chinese Di Yu...

All these typical chinese funny bs that characterize wuxia and xianxia are not here. So no, this is not Wuxia or Xianxia. This is a new and refreshing historical fantasy kdrama with its own universe made of various influences. Of course you can handpick a few things to back up your silly claim and feel proud of your chinese identity like two buttons and a collar but that does not make this drama chinese wuxia/xianxia at all.

kdrama do not have a lot of pure historical fantasy drama. This is new and refreshing indeed. I hope it is successful and the beginning of a new trend in korean entertainment.

what is the controversy
The clothes and hairstyle have chinese korean modern influences with a guy with dyed hair. Wuxia should sue Sandra Bullock's character in the movie Blinfold in court and Mulan stole her sword stance from Aragon. All this is fake controversy.

Why it doesn't seem like it? That the Grandma and Mum killed the little girl? It is convoluted to imagine a ring…
Your point of view is very defendable. I am just not ruling it out yet since these two are suspicious of having "cleaned crime scene" before...

No it doesn't.
Cdrama historical drama are annoying plots with convoluted actions to lecture people about chinese communist values. This drama is far from that. This drama is a very entertaining typical kdrama.

We're almost a third in but there hasn't been more clues. Almost everyone is suspicious. I was hoping for more…
Why it doesn't seem like it? That the Grandma and Mum killed the little girl? It is convoluted to imagine a ring of organ traffikers or an outsider. The shaman said it was one of them. So it is likely ML's young sister followed someone she knew. Maybe she followed the FL (kid version) and her mom and grandma killed her to obtain and use her organs. Because these two look very suspicious. Especially on the night of the disappearance, FL's grandmother was caught crying while searching. Why she would cry for a kid she did not know?
