He Yan literally plays 5D with everyone, including herself cause she is way too into ( I'm not like other girls so I absolutely don't melt when XJ do his thing) 🤣🤣
I can't imagine anyone but ZY as Hen Yan the legendary star general - the little moments,like her eyes,her body language,her subtle hints to her past as a prodigy - cause she is originally absolutely menace of a genius of hard work ♥️ And don't get me started on CL as Xiao Jue *chef's kiss* 🤌🤌🤌
Okay, here's a little fun fact : (from the novel ) In ep 9 around 13 minute run, when He Yan is teasing Xiao Jue and he puts a robe on her - there's a koi fish 🎏embroidery/print on it (around her head ) -It's Cheng Li Su's as HY is pretending to be CLS and has his clothes : Apparently his father used koi fish to court CLS's mother and so they believe Koi fish became their matchmaker,so to speak their good luck charm , so Cheng Li Su has koi fish print/embroidery basically on all of his clothes 💖

I feel you 🥹 While understandable - the 36 ep/30 minute while the original story had so many characters, backstory,plot and storylines,plus all the the different arcs and subtle moments ..so I literally reread the novel as I watch the drama 🤣 I also actively remind myself - this is an adaptation - ENJOY the ride 🤣🤣
I love the drama 😍 Obviously they go on a fast pace ,but considering the material had to be triple edited,plus like 1/3 of it solely went editing Cheng Li Su's character, like 10-20 % of the original scenes had to be cut down .
Also it's reduced to 36 episodes like basically 30 minute run , even with the transmigration storyline scratched out and the some ,the original novel had so much going on ,at least 5-7 different arc focused solely during the Army training before the "middle"of the story ,I am just here to enjoy it all 💕
The actors are just superb - I am obsessed with ZY and CL - the acting,the chemistry, EVERYTHING 😍 I can't imagine anyone else but those two - they literally breath like their characters ♥️ The supporting cast is fun to watch , the episodes are action-packed with little to no filters.
Can't wait for the next episodes - He Yan X Xiao Jue the bickering era is here 🤣🤣

I love how they made him stuttering in the drama - adds that element if being endearing that you see in the novel…
That's the point,that giant bandit man in his 20s had me "aww" and wishing I could give him hugs - the dude was nursed by a wolf and then spent his life all over ,and he is so cute when he tries to emote 🥺🥺
The character 'Chu Zhao' is described somewhat as a nice guy in the description here. But I don't get that vibe…
Exactly 💯 I actually feel cheated how some of the characters kinda got more typed "vilified" - I cried when when Youning was sent to that old piece of scum prince and his childhood especially scenes with his mother made me cry so hard I had to stop reading for a minute 😭 I loved how real He Rufei's childhood trauma and subsequent events formed his psychology, I love Wang Ba and hate how he was made for comic relief; O absolutely love He Yan's He (be th He )families dyamics were written. Coming back to Chu Zhao ,his character left me with this wishful melancholy cause he was so deeply caught up the schemes and plots

My thoughts exactly,like I understand this is heavy underlined romance type story ,but I love He Yan - and she has her moments - she is stubborn, a bit crazy and kinda arrogant but so honestly herself I can't help but admire her 🥰

I am reading this like 9th and actually thought,I wish I could read her back story - throughout the novel there is so much I want learn - like her childhood,her running off to the army ,the first battle, loosing her comrades and meeting her teacher, her learning to adapt and learn little bits of politics, going through the ranks , actually becoming the Legendary General,the subsequent return to the inner court, slowly chipped away until molded into the used object as a daughter of the He family,her engagement and marriage to that Xu scum ,her adapting and becoming smaller, fitting into this cut out they arranged for He Yan ,her disillusionment,being blinded , being isolated, going through the motions,her desperation and depression,her hope and confidence coming back to her with a bittersweet old osmanthus cake and blind trust in stranger's kindness, her slowly and surely coming back to herself and then the final betrayed and her final thoughts
