We were doing well until the last episode. I felt everything was going too well with the wedding I knew something…
It was....a very predictable ending. I was hoping he'd survive, cause I was loving his angst. He didn't really get a heroic death, he just did the one thing he's done consistently thoughout the entire drama, which was be incredibly possessive and protective of his meimei. He never wanted to hurt her, he just could. Not bear the thought of her being with another man, let alone his personal nemesis.
SML is what has made me put this on hold. I keep coming back to the comments to see if I should continue (I’m…
I think she seemed to settle down more after about ep 10...I kept FF thru the more annoying scenes, until I realised at one point she wasn't quite so unsufferable.
Just before the end credits at the last ep...After it fades from the end scene it flashes to a shot of the two…
I enjoyed this. The cast put in a decent show... with what they were given... The story was pretty flimsy and a bit too silly in the first half, but it felt like it matured a lot in the second half. The female characters definitely matured and most of the stupidity seemed to wash out. Plot got more serious and the general vibe seemed to settle down a little, but its still pretty light hearted, low stakes fluffy romance.
Just before the end credits at the last ep...After it fades from the end scene it flashes to a shot of the two Jasper pieces, then it jumps to the forest set where the green flash is, briefly.....and did anyone notice something unusual in the sky? Half hidden behind the tree in the top left corner...Someone with a sense of humour decided to give us an "explanation" for the green flash! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 . . . . 🛸🛸🛸 !!
I'm on ep 18 I mean finally Li Hanyi & Zhan Yuzen met & they killed him, not even an episode apart.I am so mad.Like…
I think the abruptness of it, is kinda the point. It's a story that has been going for over a decade, and just when their about to have a happy ending, BAM! it's all over! And Hanyi is unable to accept his death and falls into a killing rage. In the greater narrative, his death is there to show that jianghu is still a dangerous place, no matter how much luck and or power you may have. And that not every story has a happy ending. It's a bit of a wake up call for the audience, so their not lulled completely by all the puppies narrow escapes, and to give a sense of urgency to their battles again.
I think Wei Zi Xin's portrayal of Yu De Shui alone, earnt this drama another whole 2 points in my regards so far...As much as I truly *loathed* his character in ShenLi, I absolutely adored him in this! Also my God, Tan JianCi was truly and staggering funny in this!
Tbf, there's usually a difference between an age gap between *adults*, and an age gap, when one's under 20 and…
The reason age gap are usually squicky has to do with life experience, personal agency and power inbalances. Normally the young one doesn't have any of that. I'm going to think a battle worn general probably has a bit more experience than a closeted noble girl....and much more agency and personal power.....Also the likelyhood of them meeting, his brains promply falling out and being unable to do anything except cling to her and cry, "Master, Master,Master,Master,Master!" are probably pretty high! 🤣🤣🤣
I haven't watched 1 age gap drama that was actually good.
Tbf, there's usually a difference between an age gap between *adults*, and an age gap, when one's under 20 and the others over 30...The last is where most people start pulling out the sideeye.... :D
I agree with the part where you mentioned that the director has a crush on HMH🤣🤣🤣 After the drama ended…
Heh, Yeah, the way the camera definitely just *loved* lingering on HMH was very telling...🤣🤣🤣 Honestly some of the plot decisions just felt wierd, but I haven't read the original novel, so I don't know if they happen in there.

Gong Jun's acting was perfectly fine. The problem was he was acting opposite Yang Mi who *really* struggles to portray *anything* when she's playing a stoic/iceblock character. Her stoic tends to come off more as completely emotionally dead. Being cool headed, practical and calm, does not mean you don't have *any* emotions!!!! Nuance and subtly are well represented in cool characters, but YM doesn't have the range to represent that. It's just wooden face all the way.
So Yuechu sacrifice himself with his blood to help FL get rid of the black fox. FL turned into a little girl.…
Yeah, It really feels like it invalidates everyones sacrafice and story to just bring them back for an unearnt, no effort "Happy Ending!" ...Having everyone wait for their loves to reincarnate would have been an acceptable happy ending...All they had to do was put "30 something years later", and bam, all new lives, all new chances to fall in love again!!!!
There are many lessons to be taken from this drama such as, you can’t stop progress; businesses have life cycles…
I liked them together, but I do agree... I wanted to invest more in their relationship, but I think I realised that I honestly cared more about Dajiang and A'Tao, broken as that was. I know it's coming of age story about teen's/20 somethings making mistakes and learning life, but honestly some aspects really were jarring. I could see both sides of the relationship, but I honestly wondered at times what happened to Bai Lan's spine after she left for ShangHai? Oh wait, I know. Life. Men can keep their ego and opinions, but for a woman to "grow up" means they have to accept that they will be every bodies punching bag from then on apparently.... I applauded Bai Lan's decision of career over love life, but she should have completely let XiaoLu go. Not to mention when her boss consistently abused her trust and failed to deliver on a single goddamn promise she should have walked! She would have saved everybody so much damn trouble. Instead she passively avoided any real confrontation until it was far, far too late. Xiao Lu, dude you really should have given up and moved on. If it was all a dream, then meet another woman who won't waste your time, will be open and honest with you, and won't let your cousin run off with a gut wound to bleed out alone on the street! ... Have I mentioned how I'm *STILL* not happy with Dajiang's death?!?!?!?!?!?!
😅😅🤣🤣, Poor Tianyao, he got rid of that 'constipated ' labelwhile potraying Wang Ye already ..I don’t…
Neo's always been a great actor, just depends on the character requirements. The actors all did a great job, the main issue was the writing. Story arcs felt like they got wrapped up in a very half arsed job, and far too many bad guys did not get the emotional ending viewers probably needed. If you want that kind of end for bad guys, then use a proper procedural crime story. None of that belonged in what we were sold as a light and fluffy coming of age story. There was a serious discrepancy with certain aspects of the story and the nauseatingly optimistic music and overall tone. I loved it at first, but then it started to really jar with A'Fang's story... From then on the discrepency just got worse.
it is happy ending for those who are curious. everyone else is happy ending but the cousin died.. they really…
The dream ending was a major WTF, but honestly I'm really more steamed about DaJiang's death. BAILAN WAS A DOCTOR!!!! WHY DID YOU LET A MAN WITH A STAB WOUND TO THE GUT LEAVE WITHOUT TREATMENT!???!?!?!?!?! Tho this was less character issue and more SHIT WRITING!!!!!!!!!! There were alot of issues that were either chronically shit writing after realising they didn't know how to wrap up a story arc and fumbled it badly...Oorrrr Censorship came in and munted things!...But why not both .gif!!!!!
I think it says something about some of the character choices, that our forum needed a rant thread to deal with some of the toxic behaviour on display in this show. I get that it was never technically condoned, but there was way to much" forgive and forget" going around, and not enough " Behold, the consquences of your goddamn actions!"
