I have experience with the stuffed animal one. I love stuffed animals so every guy I have dated (which isn't much lol) has given me stuffed animals. I have a good Hello Kitty and panda collection as a result. :) But matching outfits? Hmmmmm I'll pass lol.
Now for an article about the overrated ones...I have many suggestions LOL. I might add that Amachan is underrated (at least outside of Japan) by a landslide. Anything that doesn't have a typical pretty boy love triangle plot seems to get passed over by many drama fans.
I'm going to sound like a butt but (no pun intended lol) I don't agree with the paragraph concerning looks. People on tv, especially actors aren't really supposed to look "real." That's why we watch them in the first place! Tv shows relay a fantasy so of course the actors are going to look more attractive and made up than regular folks. Honestly I do think many actors, especially in K - dramas have a plastic look to them. They don't look like real people, but why should they when they are preened to appeal to the masses? Only in Asian dramas will we see 100-pound pregnant women, poor girls in designer clothing, teachers who look like models and high school students with six pack abs. And that's the beauty of it! I'd say in Western television, at least in the US, we have much more body diversity on TV. In Asian dramas everyone is skinny with perfect bodies and abs lol.
I tend to wait for the dramas to finish before watching them, so I'm normally not a good person to vote for this…
I agree about Last Cinderella. A bit after I watched Last Cinderella I watched a drama called Renai Neet starring Nakama Yukie. The plot, except for some details here and there was almost exactly the same. Renai Neet came out before Last Cinderella...if I had watched Renai Neet first I probably wouldn't have enjoyed Last Cinderella as much lol.
*Prepares to get tomatoes thrown at me* I honestly wouldn't rate the winners as best of the year, but I have watched them all and enjoyed them! (To varying degrees) But the article was entertaining.
To the person who thinks it was contrived, you have to realize that basically all dramas are contrived. The characters have to run into each other and unrealistic situations have to happen for the story to move on. The pattern of events that happened in this drama (someone new appearing, the main character suddenly running into the new person regularly) isn't anything specific to this drama alone. You'll see that same pattern in many other dramas as well.
for me at the beginning dramas seemed really weird and so different from the tv-shows i normally watched. they…
Yes, agreed! The same thing with the word "suki" in Japanese. It grinds my gears to see it translated as "love." Expressing feelings in Japanese and Korean is quite complex.

cont. Literal translation can result in a paragraphs on texts on the screen. When I was still using subs some anime had a whole page explanation of things after each episode. Or on the screen there's a paragraph in tiny text explaining the reference or pun so I would have to pause to read it. So in my opinion, literal translation can really be a mess. It's really best to convey the meaning without requiring the viewer to read a long explanation. A middle ground is best in my opinion. But the worst subs I have seen were for the Rookies movie and for a movie called Worst By Chance. In Rookies, the subber put in a bunch of random curse words and in Worst By Chance the translation was so bad that even I could have probably done better... Also basically any Jackie Chan movie with English subs. XD
I don't understand a whole lot of Korean but I do watch Japanese dramas without subs. Sometimes I can't find a raw and I have to do with a hardsubs (though rarely). I can tell you, other than simple things like "I went to school today", most lines can't really be literally translated. It would be a mess. Japanese, Korean and Chinese are languages that are completely different than English. Most things can't be translated as they are said or else it wouldn't make sense. A lot subbers take English slang phrases and idioms and just use those as replacement. Problem is, a lot of the time those slang phrases are nowhere close to the original meaning. Translating from Japanese/Korean to English is really tricky...it's more of an art. Japanese is a language full of puns. Most, if not any of those puns cannot be translated to any other language. So it really makes sense for subbers to change it.
This is one of the most weirdly pedophilic dramas I have ever seen. First off, if the father's spirit is trapped…
I understand that but there is still and "ick" factor that a grown man would be involved with young girl(s) no matter what the reason. And yes I have been watching it. Sorry, but I still think the nudity is just odd. Even if his private parts are not shown, I just think it's inappropriate to display an underage boy in that matter. There are plenty of other ways to symbolize someone's soul....and we can't ignore the flower petals surrounding him are colors that represent eroticism.
As for Boys Over Flowers, in the original manga Hanazawa Rui actually has light colored hair...it's a light brown to a dark blonde. So I would think that's why they chose the color. Also, I think the great thing about Domyouji/Go Jun Pyo's character is that his hair is supposed to be bad lol. It's like he takes himself so seriously but there he is with that ridiculous hairstyle. I remember reading in the manga that the artist originally wanted to draw dreadlocks but she couldn't get it right. Imagine if she did...o_o But in my opinion as much as I love J-dramas....hoo boy there are some terrible hairstyles in them. I vote for a part two covering J-dramas. ^-^
I honestly don't see the vast similarity between Kind of Dramas and this one. Yeah there are some basic details in the plot that are similar but otherwise in execution they are totally different in my opinion.
