Title 49 Spoiler
This is one of the most weirdly pedophilic dramas I have ever seen. First off, if the father's spirit is trapped in this boy's body, then why is he trying to pick up high school girls? It is essentially a grown man trying to get with underage girls. Secondly what the hell is up with that opening sequence? Why is he nude? In Japan, pink is a color that symbolizes eroticism. So we have a teenage surrounded by pink flower petals...huh. Lastly, in the second episode, he wakes up with an erection and says "Wow!" To my understanding, his body is still inhabited by his father's spirit, correct? So that is essentially a grown man marveling at a boy's penis. This one of those so bad but can't look away type dramas...

For supernatural Japanese dramas, there was Minna Esper Dayo! which was just crazy and hilarious, Starman Kono Hoshi no Koi which was sweet and endearing, Akuryo Byoto which was much like a J-horror movie, Share House no Koibito which was a nice romantic comedy with light supernatural elements, Kuroneko Tokidoki Hanayasan was a short and sweet one too, with an adorable cat! Detarame Hero also had a supernatural element and it was kind of on the slapstick side with sentimental moments. Kasuka na Kanojo I thought was a so-so drama. It had some funny and cute moments. And that's all I can think of. My favorites were Minna Esper Dayo, Starman, Akuryo Byoto, and Sharehouse no Koibito.

I saw about 22 Japanese dramas this year and I took my time to vote and all. Then, Itazura Na Kiss and Last Cinderella…
Surprisingly I have actually watched more than 22 this year because I have the advantage of being able to watch without subs. I actually voted for the actors/dramas that I felt were highest quality while keeping ones I liked in mind as well. It's hard to have a unbiased poll when most people on this site really only watched the "flavor of the moment" dramas like Kazoku Game, Last Cinderella, Itazurana Kiss, etc. For example, in Japan, Amachan swept the drama awards and won best drama, best lead actress, the OST and song compilations were some of the highest selling of the year. Yet on this poll it is almost in dead last for best drama. So I will honestly take this poll as a popularity thing and not really as what dramas were the highest quality.

I always hope it was possible to enable/disable the fangirl factor of the rankings so the results were of use…
I think that at most this is a popularity poll and not a poll based off overall quality of the dramas. If you look at the pages of the dramas, most have less than 1,000 watchers who completed, some even less than 100. And many have not been completely subbed. So yeah...it's apparent which ones are going to come out on top.

It's pretty absurd that they expect us to believe that these characters are supposed to look exactly the same from their teenage years to their forties.

How is Kamen Teacher a sci-fi/fantasy? All the dude did was put on a mask. He didn't really have any powers. There…
Yeah, I understand, just thought I'd point it out.

Sakurai Sho (Kazoku Game) for best actor, weird I thought he messed up his character. for an addict of 90's Jdrama…
I don't even know why Yamapi is even on this poll.

How is Kamen Teacher a sci-fi/fantasy? All the dude did was put on a mask. He didn't really have any powers. There were no fantasy or science fiction elements, at all. Also, in the best newcomer category, Fukushi Sota's dramas should also include Umi no Ue Shinryojo and Starman Kono Hoshi no Koi.

Well, if you like seeing scantily clad women in lingerie in every episode, this is the drama for you. I, for one, grew tired of it quickly. Outside of the half naked women it's pretty interesting.

This isn't an American version of Hana Yori Dango. On the website itself it says that it's a series loosely inspired…
From the actual website, bbfseries.com: "Between Boys & Friends is loosely inspired by the widely popular Japanese manga Hana Yori Dango." I was going by what's on the site itself, which I assume was written by the creators. There is obviously a discrepancy here.

Oh yes it is definitely worth it, if by worth it you mean worth your time. Relatively it is really no longer than a lot of K-dramas actually. So yes, I think you should definitely give it a try! :)
