That's great. I checked your watchlist and I saw that you're watching some lovely family Kdramas. You've made great choices. My Golden Life was my first airing family Kdrama that I watched, and it was an emotional rollercoaster for me. The same for My Only One. It has beautiful OSTs too, some of them are covers of old Korean songs, for example, 'No One Else' by Lee Seung Chul, which was covered by Ulala Session. There is a YouTube playlist by 'MelodicKpopSubs' if you want the whole OSTs from that drama.
I still listen to the songs. They're on my playlist 🤍 My favourites from the drama are 'No One Else', 'I Love You' (covered by Sohyang, originally by Cool), and 'All About You' by U-mb5 featuring Hodge Kim. He has sung songs for other K-dramas like Miss Hammurabi, Angel's Last Mission: Love, Love Alarm, Dali and the Cocky Prince, and Can This Love Be Translated? These are great dramas by the way. Highly recommend Angel's Last Mission: Love.
I'm currently also rewatching What Happens to My Family? I can never get tired of this drama. I'm currently going through a rough patch, so comfort shows like this help me a lot. Another one I watch when I feel down is the Korean sitcom series High Kick. I recommend those to you as well. The most popular actors that we have now have all acted in that series.

These are all great recs! For someone new to this genre they should definitely start with My Liberation Notes. It's life. It doesn't feel like their acting. They were all living those characters 🤍

I'm glad you liked it ☺️❤️ Well, recently I finished a CDrama called Against the Current (ATC). It's a slice-of-life, historical drama loosely based on the Ming dynasty that focuses on the lives of women at that time. It's all about hardship, survival, and the resilient female lead, Lanxiang. I'm not sure if you're into historicals, but I highly recommend this one. Oh, and it was written, directed, and produced by women. Not to mention, one of the screenwriters is Tong Hua, who wrote Scarlet Heart, which was remade into Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo in Korea.
She's among the crème de la crème of screenwriters in the Chinese entertainment industry, so the quality of the script is top-notch ❤️👏🏼 Her touch and writing style were very visible while watching this drama, it gave me flashbacks to Scarlet Heart.
I have to say there isn't much romance in this, at least, it isn't openly expressed like in other dramas. It is more of a quiet love, and the characters know in their hearts that they're loved. I think what makes this drama refreshing and stand out from other CDramas in recent years is that the ML and FL didn't need any words. They didn't need to talk about it; they both knew, and that was enough ❤️
If you want characters with depth, then this is the right drama for you. There are good character developments too, so you may hate a certain character at first, but later on you will cry for them too 😭
And lastly, if you do watch ATC, you're going to need a lot of tissues. A lot. You're definitely going to cry in episode 1, like, a lot. I was bawling!! 😭😭
For me it is one of the finest CDramas I've ever watched. 10/10 ❤️
Another drama that I've started is an old Japanese drama, Kimi no Te ga Sasayaite Iru (1997). It's about a deaf woman and her struggles with love, family, and everyday life. What's different about this drama is that there are only 5 episodes, and they aired only one episode per year. You can find where to watch it under the MDL comments section for that drama, because I don't think this one is easily available on Asian drama sites.
My Xiao Zhan is back!! 😍❤️ I love this storyline since it's a medical and healing drama. Currently watching Doctor X and I'll be adding this one too when it airs!

I think this length was just right for this drama. Older Chinese dramas used to be much longer, particularly those broadcast on CCTV in the past. Nowadays, heavy editing often reduces the final runtime to a mere 30 or 40 episodes.
A prime example of this is Story of Yanxi Palace. In the original script, Noble Consort Gao actually cared for Wei Yingning, Wei Yingluo's sister. Given Consort Gao’s passion for Kunqu opera, Yingning, a gifted seamstress crafted all her favourite stage costumes, earning the Consort's protection in the palace. In a deleted subplot, Consort Gao even attempted to shield Yingning after she was assaulted by Prince He (Hongzhou).
Unfortunately, these scenes were cut, stripping Noble Consort Gao of vital character depth. Had this storyline been preserved, the audience would have seen a much more nuanced side to her. Instead, the broadcast version flattened her into a one-dimensional villain. Ultimately, censorship and modern editing constraints can severely diminish a story's impact, but that is simply the reality of Chinese media.

Give the first 5 eps a go and see if you like it or not. CDramas are longer so it does take time to set the scene, introduce all the characters and so on. Watch the first 5 and let us know how you find it.
It's not really the focus of this drama. It's all about the lives of women at the time. But that cheek kiss was everything. It doesn't always have to be full kisses and steamy scenes.

Yeah. I called it a Jdrama because it is being broadcast on NTV. But yeah I know it's a joint production. And Marry My Husband was soo good, both Korean and Japanese.
MDL needs to disable rating a show while it's still airing. It's the only way to stop some haters from ruining a show for some drama fans who base off their decisions on ratings to give dramas a go. If anyone from the admin team sees this please put out a notice to gain responses from the users on this site first.
