Not surprised who the benefactor of the cousin was. I watched some previews so...for those who read the novel,…
The book has almost no angst or drama. They are engaged before the first chapter, married less than a third through the book, and are sweet and in love throughout the whole story. No love triangles (no crazy stalker 2ML and 3ML), misunderstandings, breakups, etc.
The conversation following the big reveal of their identifies goes something like, "So you're a Taoist priest?" "Yes" "Cool, I'm the demon cat lord" "Okay" "Let's go home and eat dinner" "Sure"
The fights in the novel are finished in a paragraph. There are no crazy stalker 2ML and 3ML in the novel. The Daoist monks know about the demon market and don't hate demons (unless a demon kills a human). The main couple is engaged before the novel starts and married less than a third of the way through it.
Killing a "Plague god" takes a few paragraphs in the book, while events like "Let's go shopping in the market", "Lets host a dinner party" and "Let's go the Dragon Boat festival get an entire chapter or more. The novel is basically a slice of life that follows a super cute lovey dovey madly in love couple who happen to be a demon lord and the strongest Daoist monk in the word.
The "dramatic tension" in the novel, if you want to call it that, is from watching a super extroverted party animal wife married to a super socially awkward introverted husband. With a comedy and romance focus.
I really like the book. It's just totally different from the TV show (which I really like as well).
Bored waiting for new eps so I started reading the novel. I'm about 2/3 finished and wow, very different. Almost no angst. I would classify the novel as: romance, comedy and slice of life.
Yes. But it's a C-drama, so you have to have tropes. I'm bored, so let's list them.
Harem, reverse harem, CEO, Prince. Poor guy who is actually a CEO or a prince, ML being FL childhood friend, leads having met as children (but one somehow doesn't remember it), contract marriage, amnesia, falling off a cliff (usually paired with amnesia), time travel, reincarnation, girl tripping and falling into guys arms, guy slamming the wall next to girls face (this one is dated), misunderstandings (perpetuated by no one willing to communicate), college dorm room the size of an average house, full makeup and perfect hair when waking up, spitting up blood (any c-drama injury causes this. Step on someoneâs foot - they spit up blood), parents who died in an accident, MLâs random allergy or phobia to show heâs âflawedâ or vulnerable (Despite being handsome, rich, smart, best in the world at whatever his occupation is, speaking nine languages and having six Olympic gold medals), Simp ML, toxic 2FL, stalker 2ML, toxic mother, kind grandmother, kind but not very bright father, overbearing chairman fatherâŠwhat am I missing?
Tian Xiwei is really good at doing the cat-like mannerisms.
I like how she always does can things, like sleeping in front of windows, , stretching when she gets up, and batting the ball (fruit) back and forth between her hands.
It was review bombed yesterday because the main actor was accused of cheating on his GF. The show itself is great! The show had been in the 8's until hundreds of 1 ratings dropped in a few hours.
7.9 ? Just finished watching LEGEND OF THE FEMALE GENERAL and searching for new drama and found this .. but 7.9…
It's very good! I am guessing the low rating is some combination of 1) fans of other shows/actors downvoting this one so their show has a better rating, 2) people who are mad their region (for example the US) didn't get the show, and 3) a combination of both 1 & 2
Is there any comedy in this drama? Planning to watch because of Xiwei
Yes. The drama is great. It has suspense, light "horror",, hints of romance, mystery and comedy. High budget. Good: acting., production, sets, CGI (for a C-Drama), etc.
So guys⊠should I start this drama ?any feedback..
Yes. Best drama airing right now. Though I am also enjoying Legend of Female General and When Destiny Brings the Demon. Three great shows on at the moment.
The streaming services really dropped the ball on this one. Everyone will have already watched it using "other" means by the time someone in the US decides to air the show.
Great show. Very fast paced. Not sure where the low rating is coming from. Maybe because it's violent, and there is no romance? It might be more geared toward guys than girls.
The conversation following the big reveal of their identifies goes something like,
"So you're a Taoist priest?"
"Yes"
"Cool, I'm the demon cat lord"
"Okay"
"Let's go home and eat dinner"
"Sure"
It's that impactful to their relationship.
