I only discovered Asian dramas last year and am loving it, Was sick and fed up of the nonsense coming out of the U.S so I completely went cold turkey lol Haven't watched anything in English released the past 18 months. (I think)

Asian shows obviously aren't perfect, you have different levels of quality of course.
I find Korean shows the easiest to watch than Chinese, having a problem getting started with Japanese ones though.

It was getting used to the cultural differences,
*obvious one how women are treated.
*and now I'm paying attention after reading comments about the treatment and pressures on men as well (wasn't expecting that myself and I'm a guy lol)
*The Filial expectations.
*Dear god the cheating is almost every other than show, and the difference in how it's shown and received by commenters when it is one of the leads that cheated, ML cheats he scum and deserved what happened, FL cheats it was beautiful she fell in love, but was in a stagnant marriage (which clearly wasn't worked on, best option cheat lol) I know cheating happens all the time, and these shows usually show the consequences, but seriously the sheer amount.
*The Rich - Poor divide and how waiters, maids etc are practically slaves rather than employees.

Am sure there are many more,, but I will just continue incoherently waffling if I don't stop.

I just had a quick look at your profile and noticed you're watching "Who Rules the World" You won't have any issues with that one, I flew through that one, The Leads are amazing and their chemistry is really good. I just disliked one aspect of the end.

Is this rated so low simply because it's a MATURE show depicting everyday things?
Or is it just bad.

I started this last July I think and binged 30 episodes of Netflix's 43-episode version, then had a break of maybe 2 months then slowly slogged through another 11 episodes by maybe October, so I've had 2 episodes left for a year and can't decide between just finishing it or restarting.
The problem with the second choice is I'm in the same boat with several shows now, watched 80%then stopped for 6 or months.

If he did it, then to bad karmic justice for being scumbag.

Pretty sure I read that he cheated on her with Hu Bing Qing while filming Insect Totem (2023), and was apparently accused of coaching her to destroy Xu Lu image.

Not sure how true it is though?

8.5/10 Nothing special but it's a great if predictable movie.
You know who the villain is almost straight away.

I have started noticing a trend with cheating drama's where it's the lead that cheats whether they have a bad end or not, well the one's I've come across so far.

They are made differently if the ML is the cheater or the FL, the ones I have came across the ML is scum etc and does horrible things and when it's the FL it was she was in love and her marriage was stagnant an her husband etc trying to justify it. And it's the same when you read the comments on here they obviously despise the male cheater but the Female cheater is almost forgiven with lines like it was a beautiful story she fell in love unfortunately while she was married, but her husband hadn't worked for the marriage etc.

Am always of the mind cheater is a cheater if you don't work on it then leave before you cheat as you don't there are possible deadly consequences to cheating. Just reminded me of a series where the FL is the cheater her AP is also married she cheats due lack of communication stagnating her marriage so of course cheating the answer lol People saying it was beautiful lover story but wrong time etc and then in the film sequel the ML wife that he cheated on wouldn't let him go and killed him.

And idiots saying he didn't want her she should have let him go etc no need to kill him.
Am sat there in disbelief like are you stupid lol It's like why I get in arguments on Actor/resses pages when they have cheated when people say it's just a SMALL thing it's not because it causes psychological trauma in the one being cheated on that CAN and does lead to suicide and murders as depicted in that particular drama.

That may not have been coherent but it should make sense lol

I am not sure if I will watch this or not I like both actresses, but cheating storylines are not my thing, I can put up with it when one of leads where cheated on by an ex that dissappears or gets karma,
But when it's the leads it leaves a bad taste in the mouth, and this one it's both leads involved.
From what I read both ML and FL sound freaking awful people.

Please tell me they don't end up together at the very least.

Is her earlier work worth watching I have "Coffee Prince" set too watch but have avoided it, other than films I think I've only watched one pre 2010 drama that was "You're Beautiful" (2009) which was seriously dated, felt like a U.S show from the 80's lol

Depends on how good she is. She's only 39 how many actresses are still leading shows in their 40's even 50's, I have only watched one of her dramas the most recent so couldn't say anything about her acting ability.
Then you have the below actresses that are still leads and older so she could -
Lee Bo Young - 45
Lee Young Ae - 53 - had like 5 year gap in acting
Jeon Do Yeon - 51
Song Hye Kyo - 42
Kim Tae Hee - 44
Bae Doo Na - 44
I'm sure there are plenty more, depends on if she has the ability, the execs want to risk it, and will the public accept her.

Just came to comment this myself.
Saw a clip on Youtube thought the FL looked incredible with the glasses, somehow 10 times better looking than the actress who is meant to be an idol lol

Then noticed that the first 5 cast haven't acted since like 2015 WTF most are still in mid 30's ?

As a man from a Western country I find my eyes seriously being opened at how different countries are values/family dynamics etc.

A few things in this that I've noticed so far that I'm like WTF lol.

1 - The fact that the daughter had been paying rent for however many years for an apartment that the father was always going to award the son for being a lay about but being a son. She got no financial help or anything from him.

2 - The part when she is introducing Se Hui to her families and it comes out that they are living together and the father goers ballistic.
Even if you ignore that fact that they are basically landlord and tenant, If they were living together the way the father had thought so what, he is a hypocrite as his much younger son had been doing the same thing and got a girl pregnant, But he gets rewarded with an apartment that the daughter had been basically paying off for him, to be rewarded for the exact thing she is being punished for lol.

Also the brothers GF shouldn't the father be kicking her out if that's what he thinks of women behaving like that, double standards or what.

Seriously can't understand why she gives her father and brother the time of day.

Is the (2000) series worth watching.
From having a read up, FL was with Man Cho but left him for the guy who cheats and dies in the movie.?

Is the original series worth watching Just had a quick read about it and it sounds awful lol
FL with 2ML adopted brother ends up with ass ML, Then sequel ML has cheated and died with kids making her suicidal, and her original love (adopted brother ) stupidly helps her out breaking up with a better woman.

Obviously just what I can make out from what I read.

Agreed, annoyed me how many people said she was terrible.

I'm probably going to start this and Good Partner this weekend as they both finish next weekend so should be able to get up to date for both by Friday it's only about 5 hours a day lol

Edit - Just had a quick look at your watched list, and some of the shows we've both finished you have similar ratings so I'll assume I should like this, I'll blame you if I don't Haha

I know this hasn't finished yet and people are making decisions on characters when all events haven't even been covered as to why their motivations are the way they are yet.

But is this actually worth watching 7.5 isn't that low but I tend to steer clear of sub 8/10's.

Also is this backlash against the characters or the actors as I remember FL had the same hate for Doctor Stranger due to her character.
