There really is a fair bit of like father like son - Helan Zhen's dad raped his mother, he tries to rape Wang Xuan. Jian Ning wang foisted his bastard on his brother the emperor. Will the son foist his bastard on Wang Lin's son? It would serve the old goat right but I like his son so I hope that doesn't happen.
Indeed I have no issue with that at all... She just usually has much more interesting and original things to say when she actually likes a show I was kind of hoping to see that from her on this one instead of beating the two dead horses - Age and Mary Sue. Not to mention she was the one who ranted about actresses not being allowed to age so I would be very disappointed at her if she goes down that path.

Indeed but this show is supposed to be more about her so even though I expect him to get quite a bit of screen time, it will likely be more heavily slated toward her.
I can't imagine her on the frontlines... in those unwieldly and impractical outfits no less... can she even lift a sword? It defeats the purpose to have XQ and the army protect her rather than kill the enemy dead... But maybe she wins the court battles while he wins the physical battles... Its synergistic.

I have to say she was just lucky Jian Ning wang respected a certain code of conduct there. Because if it were me, I would have captured her ass and made Xiao Qi surrender. A general captures the queen without losing any pawns - that is the way a war is won and bloodlessly too. As they say, all is fair in love and war. So as much as I enjoyed her playing heroine I have to say there was heavy suspension of belief on my part on that arc.

On a more serious note he did abandon her after their wedding with no thought for her safety. And I think he is one of those the people come first kind of guys which is what a real hero is but its gonna mean a lot of separation and sacrifice. Not to say that is a flaw exactly but I think heroes are really hard to live with in reality bc every decision has to be for the greater good...

Yes... its that slow mo of a very fast but impossibly graceful run that used to be the classic 1970s bionic woman run. It always cracks me up. But that dress, the color I can't decide if its hideous or magnificent and the ridiculous wedding train... only a true beauty like ZZY can look so lovely (running) in something like that... Its a miracle she didn't seriously injure herself on set in outfits like that.
