I really enjoyed Maiden Holmes but I wouldn't call it a detective story. The mysteries are meh its just a really hot romance with a great couple. Ancient Detective is a really good mystery, best in a longest time. Detective L is also really excellent.

One of the more extreme internet speculations is that the kid is really WKS/ZZS daughter that was spawned from the cauldron bc there were some characters suggesting that life was created floating around. I think AvenueX mentioned it in her livestream as well but I didn't watch her final review so idk if it made it there.

Yes indeed - all of the director's were unwatchable IMHO.
LOL yes wrt the kiss scenes I never expected any - When Wu Lei shot this he was still not yet 21 and his momma is very adamant about no kiss scenes for her baby. So I don't think that has to do with the director. Hopefully as he gets older he gets to decide for himself what he wants to do onscreen...

Lol tyvm - I always enjoy hearing how people have different perceptions and different things appeal. This is a character drama the plot doesn't go anywhere so if the main characters/CP don't work for you, then this drama is not going to be your cup of tea.

Changge's mom was the most tragic figure in the story. Of course she could have chose to do nothing but Li Shimin saved her life and he was probably her one true love. She chose not to let him die. But as a result, she betrays her husband and all 5 of Changge's brothers were also killed. She just couldn't live with herself.

She knows Changge is strong and probably pretty much predicted how Changge would react, as did Li Shimin. That is why she made her vow not to be consumed by hate and to instead live a happy life no matter what happens. I think she fully considered her actions and the consequences.

Leyan is a tough question - my guess is she would have cried for sure and she would have survived as we see she is strong in her own way. But I don't think she would have thought to try to seek revenge. I would also guess that Li Jiancheng would never have spared her life if the tables were turned.

I think the hardest part of growing up for Changge is to find out her father was just not a good person. And the situation between the brothers were kill or be killed. And considering that her mother was also culpable for her father's death I think acceptance if not forgiveness is the right outcome. But there is no going back for her and Li Shimin, which is why she is in the grassland with Ah Sun.

I think the outcome to everyone's personal journey was meaningful and satisfying. The plot however was flimsy and I am still unhappy about the blurry kiss.

I am actually surprised how openly that is portrayed here. I guess its a well accepted historical fact - LOL!!!

I think the production value is very high but the script writing is lacking.

Funny fact - the Bear is still the Bear in both.

No the Eagle division is with Sun and the Great Khan. He will never fully be his former self again and he agreed with Sun that their people are exhausted from years of war and they should seek peace and rest for now. It is implied is what he promised Li Shimin he would try to achieve when he returns to the grasslands.

I am watching Court Lady which is a completely different take on Li Shimin/Taizong. It focuses on the latter part of his reign. And the men all really casually manhandle the women in that show. I am low key disturbed by it may abandon it if I keep hearing good things about Imperial Coroner.

Don't forget she was still a Sui princess and represents the political alliance between the two states. After Sui fell, he was probably still using her to control Sheér (my guess only) and there is no way to kill her without alienating Sheér.

At some point WKS and ZZS is going to shoo everyone off the mountain. They want their privacy to do all the unspeakable things to each other that will make the censors hair stand up and face turn grey.

They have been together since the final moments of the last episode. The final scene just shows that they chose to stay in the grassland, that they are together but not appendages of each other 24/7. Ashile Sun is just using his eagle to keep an eye on her when she is doing her own stuff. Thus fulfilling his vow to let her remain independent while keeping her safe. Its the perfect ending.

Estimated Time of Arrival. Faith Makes Great doesn't really count but I guess it will have to do in a pinch! I am gonna pace myself with all this patriotic stuff bc there is gonna be a ton of it...
