Yes and it is very unusual to see in c-drama that their chemistry arises out of conflict. The love-hate way they get under each other's skin is so brilliantly portrayed. I wish more c-dramas would explore this dynamic.

Indeed but I think this one really did give a lot of time to develop other lead characters. Zhuyuan got his whole own arc! I feel this one was more fairly distributed among main characters. As far as the romance goes in this show, IMHO the seond couple's story is way better than the leacouple.

I know JOL deserves all its accolades but time travel backwards or forwards is one of my least favorite tropes so I think its more me rather than the show. I think due to its short length, Ancient Dectective is a more tight wuxia and Miss Truth is fresh. Under the Power I didn't love the wuxia but the couple had me dying of laughter. Handsome Siblings this one as the best version I have seen but I did not watch the Lin/Su version.

In all seriousness, the editing has gotten better but is still lacking/lazy. Like I was scratching my head at how a deathly ill Ziyan ended up in the village when she had been at Dragon Roar city. And then later on they explain that Meiying had smuggled her out and I was like oh ok... So it is entirely possible they just casually drop it somewhere along the way that they sleep together and definitely without the finesse of your innuendo...

I like tall men too much to consider actors. I have run into enough of them to know that shrimpy can be almost universally applied it always jumps to mind. To me, fiction is better than reality. I am better off ogling them onscreen.
Ok lemme just say that I can count on one hand how many truly hot romantic scenes we get in c-drama. Only the younger lesser known actors seem to go all in. All the veterans and established actors are too cool to real kiss because they can get away with the air kiss. The only exceptions I can name are Mark Chao, Chen Kun and Chang Chen but that is also maybe because they were movie actors, the bar is higher/ censorship is lower for the big screen.

I actually found this year quite strong in terms of wuxia but of course nothing in the league of NIF - if you haven't watched Ancient Detective, I highly recommend it. I also enjoyed Miss Truth, Under the Power and Handsome Siblings. Joy of Life I couldn't get past episode 5 regardless of all the hype but I plan to give it another shot closer to the time season 2 comes out.

She actually looks kind of nice but netizens claim she is the jealous type so he tries not to do the super realistic kiss scenes. Info source totally unreliable so just take it in good fun. LOL - doesn't he look completely different in costume? I have never had that problem with any actors. Once they are in different roles, they are different to me... Maybe watch a different show first and then go back?
