They are both unhealthily obsessive people. But I think this gal, she really wants to marry him and he gave her the excuse she needed (that it is to save her shifu) to let herself be happy. I don't see it as coercive as it sounds and she is a tough cookie, nobody is gonna be able to make her do what she doesn't want.

Can't disagree but that is the character to a T, true to legend and mythology... hot tempered, rash, acts first thinks later. It is not just in this creative spin on an ancient classic but in many different accounts of Erlang Shen. People watch this without undertanding what they are watching. If he were rational, smart and mild tempered, he wouldn't be the impetuous and quick tempered Erlang Shen of Chinese mythology. Try re-writing Archilles or Paris and see if anyone even cares about the Iliad.

I actually like Zhang Huiwen much better here, I really disliked how she portrayed her character in NIF2. IMHO she has improved a lot. I also think this is the best role I have seen Ren Jialun in so far. While the OTP in Under the Power sizzled, his character there was rather boring and all he did was pretty much scowl at everyone. I like him so much more here and I think it is much more like himself in real life.

Bravo for your consistently - it is important to be equally irritated irrespective of whether it is the male or female character that is making a nuisance of themselves in love! I also prefer the second couple's dynamic but I am also ok with the first although I agree that Qingci was a little bit annoying at times. But he redeems himself every now and then by making her jealous, putting her in her place and not to being such a doormat. I actually find the way they portray him kind of hilarious because a lot of what he does is how the typical FL usually behaves.

Hmmmm... well I am not a good at watching mindless fluff but I keep hearing Tiger and Rose is good? I am watching The Eight to past time - the characters are cool and the ML is my kind of hot but the plot is only so-so. Lots of eye candy and action though....

Yeah its just his descent into darkness is a bit cliche with all the jilted lover/struggling with inner demons tropes. Not saying its bad but up until this point, this story has avoided a lot of common tropes.

I think Love a Lifetime is quite fun. I ended up binge-ing The Bad Kids. Once I started I just couldn't stop but it is kind of dark, definitely not fluffy.

I generally find less good looking actors try harder and act much better. Many of the idols just cruise on the back of their good looks.

Apparently Ai was even more malleable. The current emperor tries to fight back. Made zero progress this weekend, got sucked into watching something else.
