It is his son and heir, who is already an old man. This drama skips a generation.
He is the younger of the two small boys that were playing together in the ending scene of NIF. Obviously Xiao Tingsheng was the older boy. They didn't just grow up they grew old. :)

Title The Eight
OK, not so good news. I clicked "reserve" on the apps, and found out later my calendar is marked with the release…
I guess that is better than Dec 31... The preview looks great.

There's so much content to the NiF world that can be build upon for years (prequels to NiF 2 that is). Mei ChangSu/Lin…
If you watched Royal Nirvana, I always feel that writer "stole" Prince Qi from NIF's story. It takes place around the same period and the royal family also has Xiao surname. And it is a story about a emperor is jealous of his crown prince who is supported by his maternal uncle, a powerful general (sound like Lin Xie?) whose son (sound like Lin Shu?) is close to his cousin the crown prince... I just wish Hai Yin had written the story instead because that writer really mucked it up. But as you point out a lot of NIF sequel worthy content to be explored hope the original writer acts on it soon before other people steal it from her.

Title The Princess Wei Young Spoiler
I've added this to my watchlist yesterday,i saw sad ending in the comment section. Dropped real quick.
It is actually a bittersweet ending - they get quite a bit of quality time together.

I didn’t like the story in the beginning neither, but grow to like it. It’s straight forward and simple, but…
I skimmed the book but I am not gonna read it all. Actually to me Shangguan Tao is a much more interesting but darker character in the book, he just got whitewashed for the drama. In any case, they need to step up the storyline it is 48 or 50 episodes it gotta be more than them making eyes at each other the whole time...

Sigh... I already watched half of this... I want to drop it but I feel so invested already I don't know what to…
It is a beautiful story but the drama execution was poor. Lusi's acting blew up in the second half - she can only do comedy. It is still a good drama, you just have to FF the second couple/middle parts.

Simple is great as long as it is well executed. I only watched 8 so far but the issue is this hasn't hooked me and I am kind of bored with my other dramas but still don't feel pulled into watching the other 8. I rather surf the net. Luo Yunxi is doing great but so far Yuqi is one dimensional. I am more her fan than Yunxi's as I detested AOL so I say this reluctantly.

Hmmm... we shall see.... I am still neutral on the story but lately new dramas have been very mediocre (including the first 8 of this). I am a simple person - I watch a bunch of things at ths same time and the one that I binge is the one that may have an x-factor Sadly so far I am not that into anything. on my list. This one is ok but I must admit I was hoping for more...

On And the Winner Is Love Jun 3, 2020
I know Yuqi looks stunning in red but in the beginning she shouldn't be in it so much it makes her look older when she is actually supposed to be a very young girl. Took me awhile to figure out why she seems so naive. The acting is good but the story is not gripping enough to make me chase.

Title Ancient Detective Spoiler
Avenuex's YouTube videoAncient Detective Could've Been Even Better? - In Its Script Writer's Wordshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItWn75MO5KE
Very interesting, thanks for this - it plugs some holes and the writer's intended ending phrase is wickedly good but would have locked S2 into the introduction of someone else as the titular character. I have mixed feelings about that because where they left things now, there are many other explosive directions they can take this in. I hope this spat doesn't prevent or delay a S2 though.

I didn't watch this drama yet because I have no time, but this drama got very low score on Chinese Movie/Drama…
I am not a huge Jackie Chan fan but I thought this was quite entertaining and enjoyable regardless. If you are interested in detective/wuxia genre however, I would say that Ancient Detective is shorter (24 episodes) and much better. I enjoyed them both.

Oh wow - so they cut her out completely... that's just too bad she definitely looks much more interesting than this other gal. Tyvm.

Really? It didn't look like there was a change to me? Who was the other one? How did they manage to find two bad actresses at the same time?

Title The Eight
This has been listed as "Coming Up" on iQiyi, and I just heard from AvenueX that we should expect this to come…
Two weeks ago iQiyi told investors they will air "Happiness Within Our Touch, Xingfu Chushou Ke Ji and the Winter is Love, Yue Shang Zhong Huo; The Eight, Min Chu Qiren Chuan and Love A Lifetime, Mu Bai Shou" in Q2. The first two are already airing so I think there is a very good chance for at least one of the last two will as well.... :)

I am watching this because it is not about the ML and FL dominating the show but about 5 or 6 main characters…
Hope not but I wouldn't be shocked. In any case, nothing really interesting to watch at the moment.

Yes I agree the editing was really odd and many disconnected moments... But maybe they cut so much of her parts because her acting was just bad.

It is not great at all. I am only continuing because the only alternatives are light rom-coms that I am not in…
Yes there are 2 (maybe 3) main couples. The main lead is paired up with a very insipid character and the romance is meh. The second lead and his wife are a great couple I mostly care about them. It’s a spy story so romance is peripheral and be prepared for some maybe even all of them to die - not spoiler I am only halfway.

Title Autumn Cicada Spoiler
If anyone is curious about deleted scenes of the ML & FL , here is the playlist for it: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1YK4y1t7Eb?from=search&seid=13222320451306936857…
The romance should be non political and not censorship worthy so if it was cut, maybe it is because it was just bad. I don't feel any chemistry between the wallflower He Ying and Ye Chong and my main gripe is they didn't kill her off already. She is seriously awful and nauseating. So I am so happy to hear I was spared any additional scenes of her and Ye Chong. If they were a real couple I see divorce in their future. On the other hand Chi Cheng's romance is hot hot hot.
