Title The Rise of Phoenixes Spoiler
I've just started this, I'm on episode 28! : ) I normally wait until I've finished a drama to leave a comment,…
Agree completely with what you said. Not much kissing though, it is pretty much a lot of just that slow burn intense hunger. It is like they are such good actors they don't need to do such obvious stuff like kissing to convey physical attraction.

Where are you watching this?
VIP gives access to all devices: I can use it on iphone, ipad, computer and Apple TV. However, for streaming to TV you have to buy Diamond VIP which I think is not an option on the international app, just the China app. If you can read Chinese, i recommend the China version (you just have to download from app store after changing your location to HK or Taiwan). There is more content for drama and movies and you get anime, kids, variety shows etc etc but it is all in Chinese. It also is half the price - I paid US$32 for 1 year, I think the international one is $60. If you watch it on a computer you can turn on English subs for some (not all) content. The international app may allow you to access all devices including TV because it is more expensive. Be careful before you subscribe. My first subscription was 1 year I didn't know about Diamond VIP and they made me wait 1 year to upgrade it to the Diamond. So if you are not sure start with 1 month and then see if you like it before committing longer. If you don't use itunes, you can get a China subscription directly on www.iQiyi.com.

I watched the first one the story seems quite interesting and different.
Me too, I think there are too many new things airing. I am trying to be more patient and watch a few more before dropping. I like Leo a lot so I think this one is promising. The other two seem decent as well...

Oh ok, tyvm. So now where does DJ think the stone is? Does he think that it is destroyed and no longer an issue?

I thought he knew someone disguised themselves as him and took it before he went to the mortal realm. But tbh I wasn't paying that much attention in the earlier episodes so I could be mistaken.

Aren't they just the most interesting drama couple?
Ni Ni should get many awards for her acting she is so excellent.
What I love about Ning Yi is that he is somehow dark without being exactly evil. He is capable of compassion and has his own code of conduct, he doesn't target innocent people but he is not bothered if they suffer collateral damage either. He doesn't make excuses or try to explain his own morality either. Oh how am I going to watch anything else after this?!?

Where can A Canadian such as myself watch this with English subtitles? we don't have it on amazon prime. so please…
Viki.com is probably your best bet. You may or may not need a VPN to get around regional restrictions. Good luck.

Yeah, and I got confused cause I thought white was a funeral colour.
It is indeed but maybe in Sky Kingdom it doesn't matter. That said, let this be a strong warning to anyone who thinks a fusion Chinese/Western wedding gown is the way to go.

The cameo is a total waste of Yang Mi's talent. You are pretty much right as I too wonder why they even bother…
It is interesting your observation about bias against Dilraba by directors. I think directors definitely make a huge difference in actors performance and I have seen Dilraba deliver stronger performance in other dramas including TMOPB. To be fair however, that is at best 50pct and the actors have to pull their own weight as well in terms of interpretation of the role and character. I think she is stunningly and uniquely beautiful I really can't help liking her onscreen even when her performance is poor. But I will observe she is at least part of the problem. She relies too much on her looks and doesn't try that hard to expand her versatility outside of the absolutely adorable and ingenue tropes she is so good at. As she ages out that will start to hurt her. Take someone like Ni Ni who is a more unconventional beauty - her acting always elevates her and makes her look much more beautiful and interesting than she really is. Dilraba's acting I am sorry to say doesn't do that for her but maybe she is already too excessively beautiful it is not possible to be more.

Don't binge it, just watch it slowly and watch something happy at the same time. I watched it with Joy of Life at first (which I dropped) and then ROP.

I was also disappointed. I was hoping it would be a different colour. They could have at least put the white with…
We should just consider it Ye Hua's last major trial: he has to wear matching white to get to finally marry Bai Qian!!!

Episode 24 was the first episode I quite enjoyed. However, being completely honest, Bai Qian's wedding dress was a complete fail for me. Why get her to do a cameo and then pretty much cover up her whole face - was that even Yang Mi? And the white dress just sucked all the color out of her making her look pasty white. Against the vivid pallette of the rest of the show the entire white themed party looked like a coloring book with all the white bits left uncolored. I seriously thought it was at a ghost wedding. Not to mention how they plastered white foundation on everyone's face but left the neck bare. Zero makeup quality control. Other than the visuals though, I am happy to get a good episode for once.

A great review! Although I liked the ending I can see why so many despise it. :D
Tyvm for your kind words. Its so wonderful to know someone liked the ending. I can live with it and love the show regardless.

I feel bad for shipping qing ti and feng jiu
They do have a more natural chemistry but I am still on team DJ. It does say something though when viewers start shipping the love rival...
