Yes so those were the good parts of his portrayal. But excessive waterworks are my pet peeve. They really irritate me and that mars my perception of his portrayal. Its like they swapped out the blood spitting for water works.

He is not talking to dead people bc of course that's not possible. He is really talking to himself and removing himself from the situation to analyse it rationally. It helps him formulate the battle strategy more objectively. And he is also starting to understand that he should forgive himself. He did his best.

Its possible - he is learning to forgive others and more importantly to forgive himself. All of his "conversations" with his father shows his mentality is changing.

Huaian is not sacrificing Wuyang. Wuyang is their last hope and the greatest remaining obstacle to Tiemo. With limited resources, he can best keep tabs on Tiemo King by being close to him and pretending to help him smoke out Wuyang while secretly undermining him. Its similar to the strategy he used with YFS. Tiemo King is smart of course and he knows Huai'an's play but it is still his best chance of getting Wuyang to show himself. In any case, Old Sha should be on Huai'an's side and my theory is Huai'an cut the ribbon to summon Cai Weizong. If I am not mistaken Cai has hidden himself as the eunuch in the palace. When he sees Huai'an remove the ribbon from the palace, he will emerge. YFS didn't dare kill him even though he let Gao go bc he knew he may need him later on to deal with the Tiemo King. It is possible that Wuyang is hiding with Cai.

The girl that looks like Wumei was guarding him. He is a cripple - hard for him to run without being rescued.

I suspect that Wuyang will die and he will have to stay on to guide Wenjing. Which was his dream when peace returns to Chang'an - to aid a wise ruler. If Zhang Mo's father can go on, so can Huai'an.

Partly bc the Huben army stashed him in a "fake" location that was heavily guarded to try to lure Huai'an there. But they figured out where he really was from the trash.
