I get it but that’s just not enough. All convincing friendships/relationships have some kind of personal hook to make it resonate as real and not just they are each others bottom lines bc the plot says so. The humor can be dead pan gallows humor it doesn’t have to be goofy. It was there between SMY and MYM so they clicked for me already despite the small interaction so far. Changhe lapsing into dialect when he speaks to Su Tze also sold their rapport to me. It’s just a small thing that goes a long way.

I think they are both doing well enough even though there are moments GJ seems to be just starting at space. What I think is missing is I don’t see any deep bond or friendship between them. And I don’t mean in any BL kind of way but just in even the banter between the 3 leads in TBOY. That seems missing here. I think they need some running jokes - kind of like how MYM joking on about how Tang is so infatuated with her he won’t kill her.

I know that Youku has been rolling out 4K resolution for VIP subscribers but I don't know if its available in every region. I have access to it but my subscription is complimentary I don't know if what I have is available to everyone. Tbh on my TV the 4K is fantastic but it doesn't look like its that huge of a step up from 1080, which IMHO is already excellent.

Idk its just speculation on my part. But from their back story, they are found family, I doubt they really want to fight each other. And the Patriarch spared them both as kids so they both owe him. But they can't go against all 3 families. So Changhe can just help SMY stall by seeming to follow orders but not trying that hard.. I think they both want to reform the organization. Even in ep 6, Changhe is taking credit for Xie Fanhua's death when Xie Qianji was the one who stabbed him, creating conflict between the Su and Xie families. That will prevent all 3 families from uniting against the Patriarch. And Changhe and Qianji had some strange coded exchange that suggests they are working together to change the Blood River organization.

Dashing Youth should be about 10 years before Blood River. In it, Su Muyu is only the Umbrella Ghost of the Su Family. Blood of Youth takes place about 8 years after Blood River. Both Changhe and SMY are already among the oldies at that point.

Yes the night or dark atmosphere suits this story. Its possible that it may be a bit dark if you are watching on a phone.

Should be Guilin. It’s close to Cantonese in tone and some words but it is distinctly not the same.
