Honestly of all the villains, I find his motives the most well written. He did what he did bc his brother and stepmother want to kill him the moment Jinxiu's war with Susha is over. Its rational and understandable and when he colludes with MY, he is not betraying his country, he is undermining Susha. The only truly bad thing he ever did was try to kill FYX. I don't think FXY's grudge against him is at all justified - he never misled her or lied to her. She only has herself to blame for her current situation.
