I think there are several reasons he was silent:

1. As @10credi points out, he can't just casually pardon him after his actions cost so many of his men their lives in battle. That would make him ungrateful to his men like MY felt the emperor was ungrateful to his father.

2. The emperor was trying to to make FSG ask him for the favour of pardoning MY and in return would have made him agree to take on the throne, something FSG already rejected. The emperor also saw it as an opportunity to seal the Murong family's loyalty to FSG.

It was a tragic setup bc they all had their own reasons for doing what they did. If Murong Sr understood the dynamics better, he would have chosen a better time to raise the subject.

Not defending him but from his crazy ass POV, he probably felt that since he saved FSG's life, he can also take it back.

Its all good. They really truly do deserve each other and the greatest irony she sees it even though he can't. 😂

The character was already very well acted in Pearl Eclipse even though it was as SFL. Maybe it is that every time its been the productions' fault but I have tried to watch ZJY in many an ancient dramas - never quite does it for me. But I like her in modern shows.

I think FSG will end up at the helm bc there is no one else viable. The princess is a disgrace and completely and utterly lacking in judgement. She is a hard NO. I have said it before - there is something seriously defective with the Feng gene pool.

Looks like besides Lu Ke, most of the top lieutenants of the Feng Battalion are dead and the much smaller secret Qiongqi unit looks like it was wiped out. They were already quite evenly matched with XJS's Zhennan army before this so it leaves the country in a terrible position relative to Jinxiu.

Well hopefully I am wrong but I just can't see either of them pulling off those characters. You need someone like a Wang Dou for the ML role. And I really don't like ZJY in ancient dramas - her look is so modern and so square she just doesn't look like she belongs in the watermelon seed face era.

And let the whole Zhuang clan get exactly what schemed, killed and manipulated everyone for? That would make it a super bad ending for me.

Its not a treat for the eyes kind of story. Its very dark and twisted. If you watched Novoland Pearl Eclipse you'd have seen enough of it to know what I mean.

They both lack complexity.

I just can't believe he waited all those years to get revenge. I mean he could have just killed Zhen Shuang then and there for killing his empress. And in front of so many witnesses too, he should have just indicted him and had him beheaded. The whole alienating his own son, the waiting and passive aggressive torture and scheming is just bat shit crazy.

I think the best way is just for FYX to kill MY.
